Weeks Island RV Park About

For RV travelers navigating the picturesque landscapes and vibrant culture of South Louisiana, finding a convenient and functional place to rest is often a top priority. Weeks Island RV Park in New Iberia, LA, presents itself as a notable option, particularly for those seeking a practical "stop over campground." Its location provides easy access to some of the region's most iconic attractions, making it a strategic base for exploring the heart of Acadiana.

Reviews for Weeks Island RV Park offer a mixed, but insightful, perspective. One traveler praises it as a "great little stop over campground for travelers," highlighting its "clean, spacious, and level" sites, which are "not crowded." This type of feedback is invaluable for RVers who prioritize ease of access and comfortable parking after a long day on the road. The mention of "full hookups" and a "great price" also points to its appeal for budget-conscious travelers looking for essential amenities without exorbitant costs. The note that it's "in process of upgrading everything" suggests a commitment to improvement, which is always a positive sign for an evolving property.

However, another review provides a more critical, detailed perspective, raising concerns about certain aspects of the park's management and facilities. This feedback touches upon discrepancies in advertised amenities (like a pool), payment methods (cash only), and issues with maintenance and management professionalism. These points are important for potential visitors to consider when evaluating their options.

Navigating these varied insights, it becomes clear that Weeks Island RV Park offers a no-frills, functional approach to RV accommodation, with definite advantages in location and pricing, especially for those who value practicality over extensive resort amenities. Its proximity to New Iberia and the famous Tabasco Plant makes it an appealing choice for locals exploring their own state or out-of-state visitors looking for a convenient cultural immersion.

In this article, we will provide a comprehensive overview of Weeks Island RV Park, detailing its location and accessibility, the services it offers, key features and highlights, information on promotions (or lack thereof), and essential contact details. Our aim is to provide a balanced and factual portrayal to help Louisiana locals make an informed decision for their next RV adventure.

Location and Accessibility

Weeks Island RV Park is strategically located at 3004 Weeks Island Rd, New Iberia, LA 70560, USA. This address places it within the vibrant cultural landscape of Iberia Parish, a region renowned for its Cajun heritage, picturesque bayous, and significant agricultural and industrial presence. Its location offers a balance of convenient access to local attractions and a potentially quieter setting, away from the immediate bustle of city centers.

The park's accessibility is highlighted by its proximity to key landmarks and transportation routes. It is "6 miles from Tabasco Plant" on Avery Island and "3 miles from New Iberia." This makes it an ideal base for locals wishing to explore these iconic Louisiana destinations. The Tabasco Plant, a major tourist draw, offers tours and a gift shop, providing a unique cultural experience. New Iberia itself is rich in history, featuring attractions like the Shadows-on-the-Teche plantation home, Rip Van Winkle Gardens, and a charming historic downtown with local eateries and shops.

Furthermore, the park is conveniently located at the intersection of Highway 90 East and Highway 83 (Weeks Island Rd). US-90 is a major east-west artery through South Louisiana, facilitating easy travel to and from the park for RVs of all sizes. This excellent road connectivity ensures that travelers can reach the park without significant navigational challenges, making it an attractive stopover point for those passing through or staying for a few days to explore the area. While one review mentions the ground being "hard to stay level" and previously a "sugar cane field," the general consensus from a positive review highlights that sites are "level," suggesting this is not a universal issue or improvements have been made.

Services Offered

Weeks Island RV Park focuses on providing essential services for RVers, positioning itself as a practical and affordable option for both short-term travelers and potentially longer-term stays. While some luxury amenities might be absent, the core offerings aim to meet the fundamental needs of RV life. Based on the provided reviews and public data, here's an overview of the services you can expect:

  • Full Hookup Sites: The park offers sites with full hookups, which typically include connections for water, sewer, and electricity (both 30 Amp and 50 Amp service are often available, allowing for accommodation of various RV types). This is a crucial service for convenient RV living.
  • Spacious and Level Sites: Positive reviews note that sites are "clean, spacious, and level," which is vital for easy setup and comfortable living in an RV. The park also mentions 91 campsites, shaded by trees, with gravel sites and pull-thru options.
  • On-Site Management: The presence of a manager (Curtis, as mentioned in one review) indicates an on-site contact for resident issues, though the professionalism of the manager has been a point of contention in one detailed review.
  • Pet-Friendly Policy: Weeks Island RV Park is a pet-friendly location, welcoming furry companions, though specific restrictions (e.g., on breed or quantity) may apply and should be confirmed directly.
  • Laundry Facilities: Public information indicates the presence of a laundry room. However, one review describes the building as "in bad shape," suggesting this amenity may require significant upgrades.
  • Shower Rooms and Restrooms: The park offers shower rooms and restrooms. Similar to the laundry, a review indicates the building is "in bad shape," which may affect the user experience. Good Sam also notes "tiled restrooms."
  • Self-Service RV Wash: Some public listings mention a self-service RV wash facility, which can be a valuable amenity for maintaining vehicles.
  • WiFi at Overnight Sites: Public information suggests WiFi is available at some overnight sites, which is a key amenity for modern travelers.
  • Children Stay Free: As noted on Explore Louisiana, children stay free, making it potentially more budget-friendly for families.

It is important for prospective visitors to note the contrasting views on the condition of facilities (like showers and laundry) and management professionalism. Direct communication with the park and perhaps an on-site visit for long-term considerations would be prudent.

Features / Highlights

Weeks Island RV Park, despite its varied reviews, possesses several features that make it a notable option for RVers in Louisiana. These highlights often appeal to travelers prioritizing practicality, affordability, and a convenient location over luxury resort-style amenities.

  • Strategic Location for Area Exploration: A major highlight is its prime location just "6 miles from Tabasco Plant" on Avery Island and "3 miles from New Iberia." This proximity makes it an excellent base for exploring the cultural and historical attractions of Iberia Parish, including the famous Tabasco factory and Jungle Gardens, as well as the charming town of New Iberia.
  • Affordable Pricing: The park is consistently praised for its "great price," with one review noting it was "quite right at $410 a month" (though current pricing should always be verified). The instruction to "bring cash or check-no credit cards accepted" reinforces its budget-friendly, no-frills approach. Good Sam lists rates "From $30 / night" with a 10% discount for members, indicating a generally accessible price point.
  • Spacious and Level Sites: For many RVers, having a comfortable and easy-to-navigate site is paramount. Reviews highlight sites as "clean, spacious, and level, and not crowded," which facilitates stress-free parking and setup. It boasts 91 campsites, some shaded.
  • Full Hookups: The availability of full hookups (water, sewer, electric) across its sites is a fundamental and appreciated feature, providing all the necessary connections for a self-contained RV stay.
  • Potential for Upgrades: The mention of the park being "in process of upgrading everything" suggests a future-oriented approach and a commitment from the owner to enhance the guest experience. This indicates potential for improved facilities. Good Sam also lists it as "Newly renovated RV park with tiled restrooms, new laundry & fantastic playground," though this contradicts the negative review about conditions.
  • Owner's Positive Demeanor: While management interactions receive mixed reviews, the owner is described as "very nice" and "seems nice enough," suggesting a reasonable and approachable demeanor, which can be a comfort for guests.
  • Convenient Stopover: For travelers simply needing a place to rest for a night or two while on a longer journey, its straightforward access and essential amenities make it a practical "stop over campground."
  • Pet-Friendly: Weeks Island RV Park welcomes pets, allowing travelers to bring their furry companions along.

Promotions or Special Offers

Based on the provided information, Weeks Island RV Park's approach to "promotions" seems to be rooted in consistent affordability rather than frequent, fluctuating discounts. The emphasis is on providing a good value for essential RV services. However, there are a few points related to pricing and value that prospective visitors should note:

  • Great Price/Affordable Rates: The most significant "promotion" is the park's generally "great price." One review explicitly states the monthly rate as "quite right at $410 a month," which is considered affordable for an RV park with full hookups. Daily rates are also competitive, starting "From $30 / night" according to Good Sam.
  • Cash or Check Payment: It's crucial for prospective guests to be aware that the park explicitly requires "cash or check-no credit cards accepted." While not a promotion, this is a significant operational detail that affects financial planning for a stay.
  • Good Sam Club Discount: Weeks Island RV Park offers a "Save 10% at this location" discount for Good Sam Club members, which is a direct and valuable promotion for members of this popular RV organization.
  • Children Stay Free: As noted on Explore Louisiana, children stay free, which can be a significant cost-saving benefit for families traveling with young ones.
  • Included Utilities: Like most full-hookup RV parks, the basic rate typically includes water, sewer, and electricity, offering a transparent and all-inclusive fee for essential services.

Given the nature of the reviews, it's highly recommended that interested parties contact Weeks Island RV Park directly via phone to confirm current rates, payment methods, and any specific policies. This direct communication will provide the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding what the park offers financially and operationally.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals

Weeks Island RV Park, while presenting a mixed bag of resident experiences, holds a particular suitability for Louisiana locals, especially those who value practical, affordable RV accommodation and a strategic location for exploring their own state. It caters to a segment of the RV community that prioritizes convenience and cost-effectiveness over resort-style luxury.

Firstly, its location is undeniably a major draw for Louisiana residents. Situated just a short drive from New Iberia and the iconic Tabasco Plant on Avery Island, it serves as an excellent launchpad for cultural excursions within the Acadiana region. Locals can easily visit these famous landmarks, enjoy Cajun cuisine, and immerse themselves in the unique charm of South Louisiana, all while having a convenient and accessible place to park their RV. Its proximity to US-90 and LA-83 ensures effortless travel for those coming from various parts of the state.

Secondly, the park's affordability, particularly for longer stays, is a significant advantage. The reported monthly rate of around $410 (though current rates should be verified) for a full hookup site is competitive, making it an economically viable option for those needing extended lodging for work or a longer vacation within the state. The acceptance of cash or check only, while a logistical point to remember, contributes to keeping costs down for the park, which often translates to more accessible rates for guests. For locals accustomed to the realities of Louisiana's cost of living, this can be a compelling factor.

Finally, despite some critiques regarding management and facility upkeep, the fundamental offerings of spacious, level, full-hookup sites remain. For many seasoned RVers, especially those with self-contained units, these core amenities are sufficient. The ongoing process of "upgrading everything," as mentioned in a positive review, also suggests a forward-looking approach that could continually improve the park's offerings. For a local seeking a functional, no-frills, and budget-friendly base to explore their vibrant home state, Weeks Island RV Park offers a practical and well-positioned choice.

First on their flyer it says there is a pool there’s not. Second you have to pay cash each month I figured they hiding money from the state that way, not my lane. I was there long enough to know the manager is not professional does a lot of talking about his health like his balks are swollen 😅I can’t. The owner comes and goes seems nice enough but not vested in the business. The shower room and place they claim you can rent for parties, the building is in bad shape I’ll include photos. Just saying it was quite right at 410 a month. The ground is hard to stay level it use to be a sugar cane field. Last I was told even though the water is well water the manager adds bleach to it, be aware you will spend lots for water for you and your pets. Also be aware of cars and windows. The manager has popped holes and dents in RVs and Cars while on riding lawnmower. This is a RV park

Good place to stay overall. Attached are pictures of the grounds, the office, and the building housing the laundry mat and shower house. It does cost money to operate the washer and dryer. Not sure why the sign says Weeks Island RV park, but it is the campground labeled Chase's RV park on Google maps. The owner is super nice and was very helpful. This was especially welcoming since we were staying here due to our home being unliveable at the moment due to Hurricane Ida. The grounds are nice and the shady trees are a definite plus. They have spots that are 30 amp and 50 amp with sewer and water. They also have nightly, weekly, and monthly rates that are very enticing. I was concerned because other Google reviews talk about their treatment while here being sub-par. I can see how they felt that way, but it was probably because the park does have strict rules and the groundskeeper is quick to say something about it. Two other small things are that the wifi signal the park has is super weak and didn't even reach our camper, but we did stay on an end of the park. Also the laundry room and shower house building does not have any a/c. Overall I would stay here again.
