Features / Highlights

The West Fork Sports Club & Campground is not just a place to stay; it's a destination brimming with unique features and highlights that cater specifically to the outdoor-loving Wisconsin local.

  • Premier Fly Fishing Access: This is arguably the biggest draw. Situated directly on the West Fork of the Kickapoo River, the campground offers unparalleled access to one of Wisconsin's most celebrated trout streams. As attested by a satisfied customer, it's a place where anglers can catch "the biggest brown trout of their life." This direct access minimizes travel time and maximizes fishing enjoyment, making it "the absolute best place to stay if you’re coming out to the area to fish!"

  • Affordable Membership and Camping: The club operates on an accessible membership model. Becoming a member is described as "easy and a great value" (annual membership is $30). This membership unlocks the ability to camp directly on the river for very reasonable rates ($20 for non-electric, $30 for electric sites), making it an incredibly cost-effective option for regular campers and anglers.

  • Strong Conservation Ethos: Beyond recreation, the West Fork Sports Club is deeply committed to environmental conservation. Founded in 1966 and focusing on cold water conservation since the late 1980s, the club actively participates in stream restoration projects and environmental education. This means your stay directly supports efforts to preserve the natural beauty and ecological health of the Kickapoo Valley, aligning with the values of many environmentally conscious Wisconsinites.

  • Flexible Camping Options: Campers aren't restricted to designated, numbered sites. Instead, they are welcome to camp anywhere on the generous 19-acre grounds, offering a more dispersed and private camping experience. This freedom allows visitors to find their perfect spot, whether it's right by the river or nestled in a more secluded area.

  • Comfort Amenities: Despite its natural setting, the campground doesn't skimp on essential comforts. The availability of flush toilets, hot showers (for a small fee), and Wi-Fi significantly enhances the camping experience, blending rustic charm with modern convenience.

  • Additional Rental Facilities: The option to rent a cozy cabin or the larger clubhouse provides versatility. The cabin is perfect for those who prefer a solid roof over their heads, while the clubhouse is an excellent resource for groups, family reunions, or club events, offering a dedicated space for indoor gatherings.

  • Natural Beauty of the Driftless Area: The campground is nestled within the unique, unglaciated landscape of the Driftless Area, characterized by rolling hills, stunning bluffs, and crystal-clear streams. This provides a picturesque backdrop for all activities and an immersive experience in one of Wisconsin's most distinctive regions.

Promotions or Special Offers

The primary "special offer" or unique promotion at West Fork Sports Club & Campground is its membership-based access, which provides exceptional value for consistent use of the facilities, especially for fishing and camping.

  • Annual Membership Value: As noted by a satisfied customer, becoming a member is "easy and a great value." An annual membership is $30 (or $33 if paying by PayPal or Venmo due to fees, or $30 cash/check onsite). This membership runs from January 1st to December 31st each year. The significant benefit is that only members may camp without prior reservations through third-party platforms like Campspot or Hipcamp, and they gain full access to the property.

  • Temporary Memberships for Guests: If you reserve a campsite through Campspot or Hipcamp, a daily temporary membership is included with your reservation. This allows non-members to experience the campground while supporting the club, with the encouragement to consider an annual membership for future visits and to directly support the club's conservation efforts.

  • Affordable Camping Rates for Members: Members enjoy highly competitive camping rates: $20 per night for non-electric sites and $30 per night for electric hookup sites. These prices are a significant draw, especially given the prime riverside location and included amenities.

While specific seasonal discounts or short-term promotions are not widely advertised, the consistent value offered through the annual membership is the campground's main "promotion." It encourages a sustained relationship with the club and its conservation mission. Prospective visitors are always encouraged to check the official West Fork Sports Club website or contact them directly for any unadvertised specials or package deals, particularly for group bookings of the cabin or clubhouse.

Camping stream side is the best. Nice and cool under the canopy of tall old trees. The birds were fun to watch and don't forget to leave a treat for the racoon or he wakes you up at 3am with his temper tantrum.
