Harrison Mobile Home Park About

For many residents across Illinois, the dream of homeownership often comes with a hefty price tag. However, there's a practical and increasingly popular alternative that offers both affordability and a sense of belonging: mobile home parks. Among these, Harrison Mobile Home Park in Decatur, IL, is a community that's not only providing housing but also undergoing a significant transformation, moving towards a more structured and pleasant living environment for its residents.

Mobile home parks, or manufactured home communities as they are increasingly known, provide a unique housing solution. They typically involve owning the home while leasing the land it sits on, which can drastically reduce upfront costs and ongoing property taxes compared to traditional site-built homes. This model makes homeownership accessible to a wider range of individuals and families who are looking for stability and a place to call their own in the Illinois real estate market.

Harrison Mobile Home Park, in particular, is a place where residents have experienced both challenges and positive shifts. As one long-time resident eloquently put it, the park is actively "making it and taking it from 'Trailer Parks,' …. To 'Mobile Home Communities.'" This highlights a dedication to improvement and fostering a true sense of community, where neighbors largely "get along just fine." Understanding these dynamics is key to appreciating what Harrison Mobile Home Park offers to those seeking a home in Decatur.

My family and I have lived here for years. Everybody basically knows everybody here (for the most part) and for the most part we all get along just fine . We’ve lost a few and gained a few neighbors . And the new owners have made a lot of changes and improvements in this park and others. And it is improving. It also takes time. Remember Rome wasn’t built in a day. And we are making it and taking it from “Trailer Parks” , …. To “Mobile Home Communities”. Kinda like our little individual towns of “Mayberry” which means the Manager has to be Both Andy and Barney lol ….. And besides I don’t think there is a neighbourhood out there that doesn’t have its share of problems. Thank you 😊

This place as honestly gone downhill over the years. Which I didn't know was possible. But, it does serve a purpose as a trailer park. They just don't have any regulations on keeping anything clean or making the place look good.
