Introduction / Overview
For Pennsylvanians who cherish the natural splendor of the Commonwealth, particularly the majestic Susquehanna River, finding the perfect, stress-free spot to set up camp can feel like striking gold. A1 Susquehanna Campground, nestled along the banks of the river in Jersey Shore, PA, is consistently praised by local travelers and those just passing through as a "diamond in the rough." This privately-owned campground offers a refreshing alternative to larger, overly commercialized parks, focusing on friendly service, convenience, and a relaxing atmosphere.
A1 Susquehanna Campground is primarily a seasonal destination, designed to make your stay as comfortable and straightforward as possible, whether you are pulling a large RV, setting up a travel trailer, or looking for a spot for a quick overnight stay. The overall experience is one of simplicity and genuine hospitality, with a strong emphasis on accommodating guests. The owners are noted for being "super accommodating" and going the extra mile to assist with everything from finding an immediate spot to helping with parking, ensuring your Central Pennsylvania getaway starts on a high note.
The campground’s appeal lies in its prime location coupled with its value. Located directly on or very near the Susquehanna River, it serves as an excellent base camp for exploring Lycoming County and the broader region, famous for its outdoor recreation. Visitors appreciate that even in an area with fewer camping options, this spot provides a reasonably priced and welcoming environment that encourages return visits.
Location and Accessibility
The campground is strategically located at 460 Susquehanna Dr, Jersey Shore, PA 17740, USA. This placement in Lycoming County positions it perfectly for local users seeking access to some of Pennsylvania’s most popular natural attractions. Jersey Shore, PA, itself is a charming community, historically significant and surrounded by the kind of rolling hills and dense forests that define the Central Pennsylvania landscape.
Accessibility is a key advantage for local campers. The campground is situated close enough to major roadways to be easily reachable, yet its placement on Susquehanna Drive ensures a peaceful, riverside ambiance. For those traveling with RVs or large rigs, the location offers convenient access, minimizing the stress of navigating tight, rural roads often associated with deep-woods camping. The riverfront setting means guests are never far from the water, providing instant access to activities like fishing and boating.
Furthermore, the campground is a practical hub for exploring the wider region. It serves as a comfortable home base for day trips to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon (Pine Creek Gorge), numerous State Parks like Ravensburg and Little Pine, and the historic attractions and dining options available in nearby Williamsport. For a Pennsylvanian seeking a convenient, scenic, and practical launchpad for regional adventures, A1 Susquehanna Campground’s location is hard to beat.
Services Offered
A1 Susquehanna Campground is structured to provide essential and convenient services for both short-term visitors and seasonal residents, with a particular focus on the needs of RV travelers. While the reviews emphasize the welcoming nature of the staff, the physical services ensure a comfortable stay.
The primary services available to guests include:
Full Utility Hookups: The campground accommodates RVs, motorhomes, and travel trailers of various sizes (including Class A and C motorhomes and fifth wheels). Sites are generally equipped with electric (often 20/30 amp service), water, and sewer hookups for maximum convenience.
Variety of Sites: Sites are available to accommodate different needs, including pull-thru sites which make maneuvering large rigs simpler, and dedicated tent sites for traditional campers.
Reasonable Daily Rates: Customers consistently note that the daily rate is "very reasonable," providing excellent value compared to other options in the area, which is a major draw for budget-conscious local travelers.
On-Site Laundry Facilities: For guests staying for extended periods or those needing to refresh clothing on a longer road trip, coin laundry facilities are available, offering a vital convenience.
Bathhouse and Restrooms: Essential clean restroom facilities are provided. Although some older reviews mention basic options, the presence of a dedicated bathhouse with showers is generally expected to cater to all guests.
River Access: The most significant natural service is the direct or immediate river access, allowing guests to engage in fishing, boating, and enjoying the Susquehanna River with minimal effort.
Free Parking: Parking is included for guests, with accommodating assistance from staff on parking large units.
Pet-Friendly Policies: The campground is generally pet-friendly, allowing furry friends to join the family vacation. Some data suggests additional amenities like a dog park and washing station, catering to local pet owners.

Prime Riverside Location: Situated directly on or in close proximity to the Susquehanna River, the campground offers a beautiful, peaceful backdrop. This is a major highlight for Pennsylvania residents seeking water-based recreation or simply a relaxing view.
Convenient "Diamond in the Rough" Status: Given the scarcity of high-quality, accommodating campgrounds in this specific Central PA area, A1 Susquehanna Campground is valued as a convenient, reliable, and friendly find that fills a critical need for travelers.
Excellent Value: The reasonable daily rates, noted by customers, ensure that the campground remains accessible and practical for repeat visits, making it a budget-friendly option for weekend getaways or longer trips through the region.
Accessibility for Large RVs: The ability to easily accommodate larger RVs, campers, and fifth wheels, combined with assisted parking, removes a major source of anxiety for many modern RV owners.
Seasonal Operation: The campground typically operates through the warmer Pennsylvania months (April to October), ensuring that the experience aligns with the best weather for outdoor activities and river enjoyment.
Contact Information
A dedicated staff is available to assist with reservations, directions, and answering specific questions about site availability and the seasonal schedule. Given the campground's reputation as a valuable find in the area, it is always wise for local users to call ahead, especially during peak summer weekends, to confirm space and rates.

Aug 26, 2024 · maurizio oTom the owner of the campground was super accommodating. Not many campgrounds in this area so finding this place was a diamond in the rough. He found a spot for us immediately assisted with parking and the daily rate was very reasonable. Would definitely return, if we were in the area again.
Sep 23, 2023 · Edward BilbyCoast to coast road trip with my husband— gem of a spot. Wild strawberries galore. Clean, quiet, very affordable. Beautiful lake view. Camp host was extremely knowledgeable made sure we set up camp in a safe area since there are lots of trees over head. (We are minimal and only tent camping) showers are out due to state covid regulations, not a problem for us tho! (We have a pop up shower) Barb was also the camp host there, she quiet literally offered me her jacket for extra warmth. Fortunately I came prepared for the cold, but still just a Sweet lady! We appreciate you and the beautiful land you allow camping on! Safe travels
Oct 05, 2022 · Paige PlumleeWanted to stay here but they dont like taking reservations. They dont like you to ask to many questions or tell you how much the price is or amenities are. I finally got him to try to take reservation as I wanted 2 weeks and he told me the price then I asked my husband a question and he said I was trying to change the date I originally said. We were thinking of staying longer. That is ok. I found just 5 min down the road 275.00 per week with full hooks which is less than than he ended up quoting. It sounds like they have regulars that just show up and dont need me.
Jun 06, 2022 · Holli BertrandIt's a dump. Roads are full of potholes. No shower in either bathhouse. Can't even fill soda machine on holiday weekend. Run down buildings everywhere. Bathhouse very unsanitary. No playground or game room
