Introduction / Overview
For Massachusetts residents seeking a dedicated, long-term summer retreat without the hassle of constantly booking new spots, Blueberry Hill Campground in Plymouth offers a unique, nostalgic solution. Tucked away on Rocky Pond Road, this local gem provides a decidedly "cozy and quaint" atmosphere, reminiscent of the "old timey" camping experience many Bay Staters grew up with. It is an intentional escape from the "hussle and bussle of city life," emphasizing simplicity, community, and the enjoyment of natural surroundings.
Blueberry Hill Campground is located right on Curlew Pond, within the greater Plymouth area, and is best known for its focus on seasonal camping. Unlike many public parks or transient campgrounds that cater to short-term visitors, Blueberry Hill predominantly offers seasonal campsites—sites rented for the entire camping season, typically spanning from Memorial Day to Labor Day. This unique operating model means that a sense of community is highly valued and well-established, with neighbors being "thy neighbor" for the duration of the season. As one local visitor noted, it’s a "basic, no frills campground" that encourages campers to "make your own entertainment," fostering self-reliance and genuine outdoor enjoyment.
The environment is defined by its quiet nights, broken only by the natural sounds of crickets and the occasional chirp of a hummingbird. The daytime atmosphere is described as lively, with the sounds of people, children playing, and dogs barking (a factor to consider for noise-sensitive campers). The campground openly seeks applications for seasonal sites, and while transient or overnight sites are generally not a focus, the consistent community and connection to the beautiful Southeastern Massachusetts landscape make this a compelling, annual destination for many local families who consider their campsite a true summer home.
Location and Accessibility
Blueberry Hill Campground is conveniently situated at 571 Rocky Pond Rd, Plymouth, MA 02360, USA. This location places it squarely in the heart of the South Shore region of Massachusetts, making it incredibly accessible for locals from Greater Boston, the South Coast, and all points in between.
Strategically located near the major routes connecting Boston to Cape Cod—just about 30 miles south of Boston—the commute to your seasonal escape is manageable, allowing for frequent weekend visits without excessive travel time. The campground is also closely associated with the expansive Myles Standish State Forest, a key environmental feature of Southeastern Massachusetts. While not officially part of the State Forest, its proximity means that seasonal residents have easy access to the numerous trails, ponds, and recreational opportunities that the largest publicly owned recreation area in the region provides. Moreover, its Plymouth location offers the dual benefit of a peaceful, wooded setting while still being a short drive from the historic town of Plymouth, providing easy access to shopping, dining, and the rich historical attractions of the area, like the waterfront and Plimoth Patuxet Museums. Its address on Rocky Pond Road positions it perfectly for local Massachusetts families who want a quick gateway to nature while remaining close to home.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Blueberry Hill Campground is an ideal and suitable option for local Massachusetts families for several compelling reasons. First and foremost, its seasonal-only focus offers a unique advantage: the opportunity to establish a true summer home with minimal setup and breakdown each year. For Bay Staters, this means securing a consistent, reliable spot without the anxiety of fighting for reservations every weekend.
Its location in Plymouth provides the perfect balance—it’s close enough to the major population centers of the state (like Boston and its surrounding suburbs) for a quick commute after a work week, yet it is immersed in a beautiful, natural setting adjacent to Myles Standish State Forest. This easy access allows locals to maximize their leisure time and minimize the long, frustrating drives that often plague weekend getaways. The atmosphere, described as cozy, quaint, and focused on "make your own entertainment," resonates with the traditional New England spirit of simplicity and community. It is a genuine Massachusetts escape, a place where local families return year after year to find not just a campsite, but an established neighborhood on the South Shore, perfect for creating lasting summer memories without ever leaving the Commonwealth.

Cozy and quant , away from the hussle and bussle of city life. Feels old timey. I think the place is great. During the day you hear people and their kids, dogs barking, hummingbirds chirping, at night its quiet.
