Introduction / Overview
For Massachusetts residents searching for that quintessential New England outdoor escape—one that balances the serenity of nature with the comfort of top-notch amenities—Pinewood Lodge Campground and Function Hall stands out as a premier destination. Nestled in the historic heart of Plymouth, this beautifully maintained, family-run business has been a cherished local fixture for over two decades, earning a loyal following from families across the Bay State and beyond.
The campground occupies 200 acres of tranquil white pine forest and boasts an impressive 3,000 feet of frontage on a picturesque 50-acre freshwater lake, Pinewood Lake. This provides a truly immersive natural experience. However, what truly sets Pinewood Lodge apart is its commitment to providing a full-service, hassle-free vacation. The sites—whether for tents, RVs, or rental cabins and yurts—are described as spacious and clean, giving guests that "true camping experience" while still keeping excellent amenities close at hand. Visitors consistently praise the warm, inviting atmosphere and the exceptional cleanliness of the facilities, a detail often appreciated by families with young children.
Pinewood Lodge goes beyond just camping; it promotes a strong "sense of community," where families gather, and children make lifelong friends. The inclusion of a full-service Function Hall and modern, updated gathering spaces—like the pavilion with high-top tables and Adirondack chairs—positions it as an ideal location not only for a family vacation but also for hosting special events right in the heart of your favorite camping spot. From the friendly, welcoming staff to the commitment to maintaining a clean, rowdy-party-free environment, Pinewood Lodge is highly recommended as a comprehensive, family-friendly, 10-out-of-10 Massachusetts getaway.

We had such a wonderful stay at Pinewood Lodge! The campground is beautifully maintained and offers the perfect mix of relaxation and fun. The sites are spacious, clean, and surrounded by nature, giving you that true camping experience while still having great amenities close by. The staff was friendly and welcoming, always ready to help or answer questions, which made our stay even better. The lodge itself has a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the grounds are filled with activities for both kids and adults. Between the lake, fishing, and all the recreational options, there was never a dull moment. What we loved most was the sense of community—families gathering, kids making new friends, and everyone enjoying the outdoors together. Even on rainy days, it was still enjoyable, and we made memories that we’ll cherish for years. Aug 18, 2025 · Kaitlin RodriguesThis is my absolute favorite campground, Ive been coming here for more than 20 years. This is a family run business and you can tell they love what they do. The camp sites are spacious and the bathrooms are very clean. They also have washers/dryers available which is super convenient. I have stayed on campsites and have also rented cabins and the cabins are comfortable and clean. The campground itself is clean and very family friendly. I havent had any issues with rowdy party people and quiet hours seem to be respected which is nice for families with little kids. They have a food truck now which is great, it's convenient and right next to the beach so you can get a snack while soaking up some sun. The foods really good and they also offered specialty cocktails. Some campgrounds I have been to are run down, but this campground isn't at all. They recently updated their pavilion area with high top tables and adirondack style chairs, which were really great when we were listening to the band they had playing. They had some outdoor games like giant jenga, which was fun. We also rented a row boat which was cheap and a lot of fun. 10 out of 10 recommend.
Sep 15, 2025 · MelanieWe had a wonderful time staying at lake House #2. The view of the pond was beautiful. Looking at the old campers and the antique cars were wonderful. Our favorite place.
Sep 16, 2025 · Karen AlgerSpacious, clean sites with convent proximity to bathhouses. The facilities and campground are clean and well maintained. The staff is helpful and friendly. There are plenty of amenities within the camp such as canoe/kayak rentals, a well-stocked camp store, and a communal space (lodge) that has board games, books, with a few arcade games. The location is great, with proximity to historical sites, dining, a grocery store, and the city of Boston.
Jun 07, 2025 · Alex JPlace has too many rules. Told me I couldn’t have more than 2 people on a site without paying an absurd price. Forced me to pay for a tent site for our kids that wanted to sleep in a tent outside our camper which was an extra 250. Then when we complained to see if they could accommodate us they had no problem letting us leave because they weren’t letting us get a refund after leaving from us being there only 10 minutes. Much better off going to Ellis haven 10 minutes down the road.
