Spanning 283 acres, its diverse landscape offers a rich environment for learning, adventure, and personal growth. From structured scouting events like the "Swamp Derby" that boys rave about, to opportunities for church groups, civic organizations, and even private parties, the camp's versatility is one of its greatest strengths. While some recent visitors have noted areas needing upkeep, the overarching sentiment is one of hope and dedication to its restoration, ensuring that future generations of Louisiana locals can continue to benefit from this incredible natural resource. Camp Edgewood boasts several key features and highlights that make it a compelling and beloved destination for outdoor enthusiasts and groups in Louisiana, even amidst its ongoing restoration efforts.
As Camp Edgewood is primarily managed by the Calcasieu Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, its "promotions" often take the form of specific program packages and tiered pricing for different user groups rather than typical commercial discounts.
For registered scouting units and members, there are often favorable rates for utilizing camp facilities and participating in council-sponsored events. The Calcasieu Area Council provides a comprehensive "Camp Edgewood Pricing Guide" which meticulously outlines the costs associated with various facility rentals, including campsites, and programs. It is highly recommended for any group, scouting or otherwise, to request this guide directly to understand the fee structure.
Additionally, the camp frequently hosts major annual events, such as "Winter Camp" or "Summer Camp," which are essentially all-inclusive packages that provide a wide array of activities, meals, and accommodations at a set price. These events represent significant value for the immersive and educational experiences they offer. For non-scouting groups, it is always advisable to inquire directly with the camp administration about off-peak season availability or potential discounts for booking multiple days, larger groups, or combining facility rentals. Direct communication with the camp staff is the most effective way to explore any available opportunities or tailored arrangements for your specific needs.

Great Boy Scout Camp! Hopefully, the camp will be restored better than ever before. The camp received a lot of storm damage, but the staff is working hard to restore the grounds. The staff is wonderful. My boys loved Swamp Derby 23!
Mar 15, 2023 · Daphne Nolen KinganWe are camping here for a cubscout event. This used to be an excellent place for scouts. It seems rundown now. The bridges are rotted, the lake and creeks are dry. It isn't upkept like it used to be unfortunately. I was disappointed.
