Introduction / Overview: Your Exclusive Seasonal Retreat on Gardner Lake
For Connecticut families seeking a permanent summer escape without the commitment of a second home, Indianfield Co-Op Campground in Salem, CT, offers a distinctive and appealing alternative. Unlike typical transient campgrounds, Indianfield is primarily known as an owner-only, family seasonal campground. This cooperative model fosters a strong sense of community, safety, and long-term commitment among its members, often leading to a welcoming, extended-family atmosphere, as noted by enthusiastic visitors.
Nestled on the serene shores of beautiful Gardner Lake, the campground provides over 900 feet of pristine waterfront, allowing local users easy access to boating, swimming, and fishing. The environment is safe and comforting, designed specifically to help families unplug from the daily grind and create lasting memories. While the core experience is seasonal—meaning most sites are occupied by owners for the duration of the camping season—the community provides robust amenities and a schedule packed with social events that rival any top-tier camping resort. For Connecticut residents who want to invest in a yearly, dedicated vacation spot close to home, Indianfield Cooperative Campground presents an exceptional, established option.
It is important to emphasize the "owner only" and "co-op" nature, which means the process for new campers is often centered around seasonal rentals or purchasing a share/site, rather than booking a short weekend stay, though seasonal rental sites may be available. This structure promotes an unparalleled level of community investment and site maintenance, often resulting in beautifully groomed, shaded, and open sites that feel more like a vacation neighborhood than a transient RV park.

This spot provides a quick weekend getaway without long-distance travel, yet feels sufficiently remote to offer a true escape. Beyond the camp gates, the area is rich with attractions. Sep 03, 2025 · Michael DeCarloI’ve got to say, I have Never met a nicer group of people. I have seen groups of people who like dancing, people who like sitting around campfires, some hang out on the beach, but what I’ve noticed is that even though this “click” prefers cards or that one prefers to play bingo, that are All family and friends with each other, willing to help each other anyway they can. I’m Very happy my family and I chose INDIANFIELD.
Feb 13, 2024 · Melissa CarrWe "lived" here now for about 15 years. Mostly nice people, old maintenance crew was great, last one was dreadful and new one we will see... Nice clean spring feed water, dock can use some updates, but nice. Beach is nice. Lots of activities for kids and adults. Nice family environment.
