Many visitors, like us, fall in love with the friendly atmosphere and the incredible access to outdoor activities. As one happy camper shared, "We were welcomed by Cindy who was very friendly, helping us with information about the area, the Creeper trail, the beautiful Evening Primrose that blooms each evening there at the park, and adding extra days when we just weren't ready to leave!" This sentiment perfectly captures the essence of what makes Damascus Creekside RV Park a truly special place for local Virginians to discover and return to again and again.

Location and Accessibility

Damascus Creekside RV Park boasts an enviable address at 111 S Railroad Ave, Damascus, VA 24236, USA. This prime location is a significant highlight, placing guests directly in the vibrant heart of Damascus, a town famously known as "Trail Town, USA" due to its unique position at the crossroads of several major recreational trails.

The park's accessibility is one of its strongest features. For Virginians traveling by RV or car, Damascus is conveniently located in Southwest Virginia, easily reachable via major state routes. From areas like Roanoke or Charlottesville, you would typically use I-81 South to Exit 19 in Abingdon, then follow US-58 East which will lead you directly into Damascus. The RV park is situated just off the main thoroughfare, making for an easy entry and exit even with larger rigs.

What truly sets this location apart is its walkability. As noted by a satisfied customer, the park is "Within walking distance of everything in town and the trails." This means you can park your RV and explore Damascus on foot. Numerous shops, dining options, bike rental establishments, and even a local distillery are just a short stroll away. The Damascus Farmers Market, offering local produce and goods, is also within easy reach, providing a delightful local experience.

Crucially, the RV park offers unparalleled access to the region's most famous trails. The Virginia Creeper Trail, a renowned rails-to-trails path popular for biking, is literally "just down the block," allowing guests to "Hop on The Creeper." Similarly, the iconic Appalachian Trail, which passes directly through Damascus, is also incredibly close, providing opportunities for both casual day hikes and longer backpacking excursions. The park's proximity to these trails means less time driving and more time enjoying the outdoors, a perfect scenario for adventurers.

Furthermore, while nestled in a peaceful setting by the creek, the park is also a short drive from other regional attractions. Abingdon, Virginia, known for its historic downtown, diverse dining scene, and the famous Barter Theatre, is just a brief trip away for those looking for a night out or additional cultural experiences. This combination of serene creek-side camping, immediate access to world-class trails, and walkability to town amenities makes Damascus Creekside RV Park an exceptionally well-located and accessible destination for Virginia residents.

We were welcomed by Cindy who was very friendly, helping us with information about the area, the Creeper trail, the beautiful Evening Primrose that blooms each evening there at the park, and adding extra days when we just werent ready to leave! This is a small park that backs up to the Laurel Creek, walking distance to shops, distillery, dining options, farmers market, and bike shops. Hop on The Creeper just down the block. With our e-bikes we were able to do to the whole Creeper trail, some days we rode to Abingdon and others to White Top Station. Abingdon is just a short drive for nights out, dining and theater. This park is a perfect spot for exploring the area! We hope to be back soon and see more of the area! Highly recommend! Also, all the flowers around the office and fire pit area are gorgeous!

We were passing through Damascus on our way to Tennessee and decided to stay here with our little camper. The RV park is small, but extremely quaint, and probably one of the cleanest and most organized campgrounds I have ever stayed in. (And we travel a lot.) The host was kind and helpful. The bathrooms and outdoor shower were spotless. There was clear signage everywhere. There was complimentary coffee and cookies. No weirdos or creepy people to worry about. The creek was lovely, and the little town was pleasant to walk through. A short walk down the road led to a nice swim spot. While it's not super private or anything, we would definitely stay here again! (We stayed in the "overflow" spot!)

Great experience and we’ll definitely plan to return. The owner was very friendly and gave us tons of information about the area. Dog park is not far but if walking, be aware of the house near the entrance with two very barkie Goldens (?)on the fenced back porch. No issues, just startled our dogs. We biked part of the creeper trail and look forward to riding more of it. The AT goes right through there and we enjoyed looking through the outfitters stores. The distillery is worth a visit! The Rye is very smooth.
