Troublesome Hollow Primitive Campsites is located at 41277 MO-19, Salem, MO 65560, USA. This address places it firmly within the beautiful and rugged landscape of the Missouri Ozarks, specifically in Dent County. The location is strategically positioned near some of the state's most cherished natural attractions, including the pristine Current River and the expansive Ozark National Scenic Riverways. Accessibility to Troublesome Hollow is generally good, as it's situated off MO-19, a state highway. While the campground offers a distinctly primitive feel, getting there isn't an arduous backcountry journey. For Missouri residents, Salem serves as a nearby town for stocking up on supplies, groceries, and fuel, usually within a 15-20 minute drive. This balance of a remote natural setting with reasonable access to essential services makes Troublesome Hollow appealing to campers who desire a true outdoor experience without being completely cut off from civilization. Visitors should be aware that while the setting is rustic, it is a designated campground, not dispersed camping, and fees apply. For those seeking more creature comforts, the campground's connection to Shannondale means that Timber Lodge and Pinecone Cottages are located up the hill, offering alternative lodging options just a short distance away.
As Troublesome Hollow Primitive Campsites is a more rustic and less commercially oriented campground, it typically does not advertise frequent promotions or special offers in the same way larger, full-service RV parks might. Its appeal lies in its simplicity, natural setting, and affordability. However, it's always advisable to contact them directly for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding their pricing and any specific booking details.

Beautiful primitive campground with natural spring. Lovely flat camping spaces with fire pits. Near Current River and Ozark National Scenic Riverways. One primitive outhouse. Shannondale also has Timber Lodge and Pinecone Cottages up the hill.
Oct 12, 2024 · Drea RanekDefinitely not primitive sites, not dispersed camping. There is a fee, water, electric available. One star because I traveled 3 hours with the impression it was dispersed camping.
May 09, 2025 · rex nullFirst time I have been here and I will be back. Secluded beautiful forest. Today was a mushroom foray event via the Missouri Myological Society. Just 10 minutes from Devils Well...Just a little further to Akers Ferry. If you are looking for secluded camping for just you family or an entire group, THIS IS THE PLACE!!
