For residents across Pennsylvania looking for an authentic and deeply immersive outdoor escape, Dingmans Campground stands as a premier destination. Situated right in the heart of the magnificent Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DWGNRA) in Dingmans Ferry, this local, family-run business offers a gateway to some of the most pristine nature the Keystone State has to offer. Dingmans Campground is not just a place to pitch a tent or park an RV; it is the only developed campground located on the Pennsylvania side of the vast DWGNRA, giving it an unparalleled location advantage.
The philosophy of the campground is simple: provide a clean, friendly, and rustic environment where Pennsylvanians can truly unplug and reconnect with nature. Spanning 65 acres, the property embraces the scenic beauty of the Poconos, offering a variety of 134 sites nestled along the banks of the Delaware River and within an old-growth forest setting. The dedicated owners and staff are renowned for their hardworking attitude and commitment to maintenance, ensuring that the facilities—from the bathhouses to the well-stocked store—exceed expectations for cleanliness and utility. Whether you are a seasoned backpacker, a family seeking a weekend retreat, or an RVer looking for a comfortable base camp, Dingmans Campground provides the perfect setting for making lasting memories in the great Pennsylvania outdoors. It successfully marries the essential elements of a traditional camping experience with the convenience and safety provided by a dedicated, local team.
The experience here is intentionally designed to be a true escape. As a notable feature, the campground embraces a digital-free environment, lying in a cellular dead zone and purposefully not offering public Wi-Fi. This encourages guests to put away their screens and fully enjoy the starry nights, crackling campfires, and the peaceful sounds of the Delaware River, fulfilling the true promise of a camping getaway.
Dingmans Campground is conveniently located at 1006 US-209, Dingmans Ferry, PA 18328, USA, positioning it perfectly for easy access from both Eastern and Central Pennsylvania, as well as the nearby states. Its placement directly on US Route 209 makes it simple to navigate to, even for first-time visitors to the Delaware Water Gap region.
The site’s prime geographical benefit is its integration into the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. This means that a wealth of recreational opportunities—from significant historical sites to breathtaking natural landmarks—are just minutes away. For Pennsylvania locals, the accessibility to major hiking trails is a huge draw. The 32-mile McDade Recreational Trail, a popular path for biking, hiking, and running, actually runs right through the front of the property, allowing campers to step out of their site and immediately onto a quality trail system.
Furthermore, the location is a short, scenic drive from major natural attractions. Visitors frequently mention the convenient access to nearby waterfalls, such as Dingmans Falls and the historic George W. Childs Recreation Site (which features Factory Falls, Fulmer Falls, and Deer Leap Falls), offering incredible day-trip potential. The campground’s position along the Delaware River also allows for direct river access, appealing to paddlers, anglers, and those who simply want to lounge by the water. The combination of easy road access and unparalleled proximity to the DWGNRA's best features makes Dingmans Campground a uniquely accessible and desirable location for Pennsylvania outdoor enthusiasts.
The locally owned and operated Dingmans Campground focuses on providing essential services that enhance the rustic camping experience, ensuring comfort and convenience without sacrificing the feeling of being in the wilderness. The dedicated staff and comprehensive facilities allow guests to minimize packing stress and maximize relaxation.
What truly sets Dingmans Campground apart for Pennsylvania residents are the unique features that enhance the nature-centric experience while maintaining a strong connection to the local environment and community values.

This campground is truly excellent! It’s run by hardworking and dedicated owners (local business) who clearly put so much care into everything they do. The bathrooms and showers were clean, and the store is impressively well stocked with all the essentials you might forget—and plenty more. Most importantly, the staff were incredibly helpful and thoughtful, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. The river sites are absolutely stunning and perfect if you’re looking for breathtaking views. I highly recommend this campground!
Aug 25, 2025 · uliana demianovaWe did 2 nights of family camping in late September. The facilities were always clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We also spent a day hiking Child’s Park which was a close drive from Dingmans. It’s kid friendly but there is no jungle gym which I was happy about. The whole point of camping is to camp and do fire stuff and hike and enjoy nature, not play on slides :)
Sep 22, 2025 · MotoveliI can’t say enough good things about this campsite! The grounds were beautifully maintained, with plenty of space between sites for privacy and comfort. The bathrooms and showers were clearly cared for regularly, which made a huge difference. The staff was incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The location also provided bike rentals and there was a really nice trail right near the campsite.
Aug 31, 2025 · Mike LeeWe had the best stay camping on the river at Dingman’s Campground. The river was so beautiful in the morning. The sites were large enough for 2 families and we felt like we had lots of privacy from our neighbors. We were close to endless waterfalls and epic hiking. The camp store was cozy and had everything you might have forgotten to pack (and was affordable!). Hunter, one of the brothers who own the campground, was friendly and helpful in planning our hikes! We only wished we stayed more than one night. We will definitely be back!
Aug 10, 2025 · Lauren PagliughiArguably the best, dog friendly, rustic camping experience you can find in the greater New York Area, even though it’s in Pennsylvania. Although it does have a bathhouse and arguably the best camp-store I’ve ever encountered in my 20+ years of camping, it’s genuinely “out in the woods” camping. Pitch black at night, plenty of wildlife in the area, beautiful scenery, and legitimately no cell service. If you want to disconnect this is the place. I don’t mean some carriers will have reception type of disconnection, it is a legitimate dead-zone for phone coverage. The river was such a nice piece of the puzzle to have right in the campgrounds. It’s clean, warm, and shallow enough to walk across with areas of west and chest deep water to take a dip or float a tube in. They also have a nice open field, volley ball net, and a 20+ mile walking trail right in the grounds. The sites are nicely screened between each other, so there is some tree coverage between most sites, and most sites are very big. I stayed at site 38 and it was a perfect size for our 8 person group, our cars, and still enough space to have my pup run around on a 15 ft tether without leaving the site. The staff was awesome, got to speak to one of owners a bit. Seemed like a great guy and he (along with his brother and staff) are definitely doing a great job with the camp ground. The bath houses can get a bit buggy, but it comes with the territory. I mean you are in the middle of the woods haha. However, that is at no fault of the staff, but actually the other campers who can’t seem to read the signs about keeping the doors shut. I would absolutely come back again, and have actually already booked my second weekend at the campgrounds after having such an amazing time with the first one!
