Double J Stables and Campgrounds boasts a fantastic and highly accessible location for Kentucky locals, situated at 542 Lincoln School Rd, Mammoth Cave, KY 42259, USA. This address places it directly in the heart of the Mammoth Cave region, making it incredibly convenient for anyone looking to explore one of Kentucky's most iconic natural attractions. The proximity to Mammoth Cave National Park is a significant advantage, as guided trail rides directly access the park's trails, offering an unparalleled experience of its unique landscape from horseback.
Despite its immersive, "working farm" feel that makes you feel "like you walked out your backdoor," the campground is not isolated. Mammoth Cave, while a natural wonder, is a well-established tourist destination, meaning the surrounding area has the necessary infrastructure to support visitors. Access to the campground typically involves driving on well-maintained roads leading into this picturesque rural area. For those traveling from various parts of Kentucky, the location near a major national park generally implies straightforward routes.
The true accessibility highlight, however, isn't just about road access. It's about access to the experience itself. Being so close to Mammoth Cave National Park means you spend less time commuting and more time enjoying your horseback ride through its beautiful trails. For campers, having their RV setup or the Bunk House available right on a working ranch offers a unique level of immersion. This convenient location, combined with the genuine, non-touristy atmosphere, truly sets Double J Stables apart as an accessible and authentic adventure destination for Kentuckians.
Double J Stables and Campgrounds offers a unique blend of lodging and authentic equestrian experiences, providing a comprehensive set of services for visitors.

Double J Stables and Campgrounds stands out with several key features that make it a truly exceptional destination:

- Versatile Accommodation Options: Whether you prefer the comfort of your own RV, the rustic charm of the Bunk House, or bringing your own horses and setting up camp, Double J provides flexible lodging solutions.
- Family-Friendly and All-Experience Levels: From young children (like an 8-year-old) to adults, and from terrified beginners to experienced riders, the environment is welcoming and tailored to ensure a positive experience for everyone.
- Beyond the Ride Interaction: The opportunity to walk around stalls, greet horses, and even brush them after a ride (as mentioned with June) fosters a deeper connection with the animals and the farm.
- High Customer Satisfaction and Loyalty: Reviews indicate an "overall fantastic experience" and a strong desire for repeat visits, highlighting the park's ability to create lasting positive impressions.
Double J Stables and Campgrounds focuses on providing a high-quality, personalized, and authentic experience rather than seasonal discounts. Their "special offer" is the inherent value found in their unique services and exceptional hospitality.
However, based on customer reviews, there is an indication of flexibility and willingness to accommodate guests. For instance, a reviewer mentioned that they were offered a longer ride when another group failed to show, suggesting that the owners prioritize guest experience and may offer impromptu enhancements when possible.
For the most accurate and current information on pricing for guided horseback rides, RV camping rates, Bunk House stays, or arrangements for bringing your own horses, it is always recommended to contact Double J Stables and Campgrounds directly. Dave and Rocky are known for their helpfulness and can provide specific details tailored to your needs, ensuring you get the best possible experience at their wonderful farm. Customer Reviews
Ranch owners Dave and Rocky will treat you like family upon your arrival, so we encourage you to prepare to fall completely in love with your entire adventure at the stables! This is not a tourist trap experience, but just like you walked out your backdoor onto a working farm. The horses are loved, given ample rest periods between rides, and groups are kept small for a personalized experience. After your ride you can enjoy a walk around the stalls and greet the horses as they munch on their mounds of hay. Each horse has such a distinct personality, but all are delicate and docile, making your experience inside and outside of the barn safe and enjoyable. If horses make you anxious, don’t fret, as Dave and Rocky have successfully won over even the most terrified of riders to secure them safely on a horse that fits their personality, and by the time the trail ride is over, they are bonded with their horse and ready for a second round! You will have an overall fantastic experience and enjoy the wonderful guides that take you through the trails of Mammoth Cave National Park. Bring your own horses and set up your RV, or if you don't have your own horses, stay in the Bunk House and take a guided ride, or come for the day and enjoy a guided horseback ride. We can't wait to see you there!
My friend and I came here as part of our college graduation camping trip to Mammoth Cave. We booked a one hour horse ride and Courtney was our guide. As soon as we pulled up to the barn, both she and Rocky greeted us so kindly and told us we could do a longer ride if we wanted to since another group failed to show. They explained everything very nicely and made it a super easy process. The horses very obviously are loved and enjoy doing their jobs, and the ranch is so beautiful and well maintained. The ride was so much fun, Courtney was very funny and energetic making fun conversation and talking about the horses during our ride. When we got back to the stables they offered to take graduation pictures for us with the horses and we hung out to brush a horse named June! When we left we both decided that if we ever get the opportunity to come back we will absolutely camp and ride horses here again. Thank you so much for being part of our trip, we had the best time!
We had an exceptional 1.5 hour trail ride into Mammoth Cave National Park. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with true southern hospitality. They even showed us their campground and let us greet every single horse in their stalls. We were appropriately matched to our horses with 2 kids and 2 adults, each horse was selected perfectly. We especially appreciated the step to mount the horses. The trail was wide, beautiful, and even crossed a little running stream. Excellent guide, I believe Courtney was her name. And owners Dave and Rocky felt like old friends. Very well cared for horses and truly a joy to support their business.
We had a great 3 hour ride through the mammoth cave national forest! Our guide was awesome and very knowledgeable of the area. The whole crew was warm and welcoming on the cold day we went riding. The horses are very well trained and even my husband who is new to riding had a smooth ride. I highly recommend and we will visit again!
As a Cubmaster, this location is perfect for a Scouting weekend adventure. It has easy access to hiking (Mammoth Cave Trails) and fishing (Lake Nolin). It has excellent grounds with indoor rest facilities, electrical access, and potable water. Finally, it has a great staff! The owners are accessible, upfront, and accommodating, the guides are kid friendly, and the horses are well trained. It's the whole package!
