Dry Dock Campgrounds About

For many Hoosiers, the call of the great outdoors is a familiar siren song. Whether it's the allure of lakeside relaxation, the joy of a crackling campfire, or the simple pleasure of waking up surrounded by nature, camping holds a special place in the hearts of Indiana residents. But for those who want more than just a weekend getaway – perhaps a consistent retreat, a summer-long haven for their RV, or a friendly community to return to – a seasonal campground can be the perfect answer. Dry Dock Campgrounds in Amboy, Indiana, offers just such an experience, establishing itself as a beloved spot for a "stay all summer kinda campground" right on the beautiful Mississinewa Reservoir.

Campgrounds vary widely, from rustic tent sites to full-service RV resorts. Dry Dock Campgrounds falls into the latter category, designed primarily for those who enjoy extended stays, often keeping their RVs on-site for the entire season. This type of campground fosters a unique sense of community, where neighbors become friends, and shared experiences create lasting memories. Unlike transient parks, a seasonal campground allows you to truly settle in, personalize your site, and enjoy the rhythm of lakeside living throughout the warmer months.

The appeal of a well-maintained, seasonal campground like Dry Dock Campgrounds is undeniable for Indiana locals. It provides a stable base for outdoor adventures without the constant packing and unpacking. It means consistent access to fishing, boating, and hiking opportunities around the nearby Mississinewa Reservoir, one of Indiana's premier outdoor destinations. For families, it can mean a summer of structured fun and freedom, while retirees might find it a peaceful escape and a welcoming social hub. The convenience of a dedicated spot, coupled with a clean and friendly environment, transforms simple camping into a lifestyle choice.

Amboy is a small town in Miami County, in north-central Indiana. It's nestled amidst the serene landscapes characteristic of this part of the state, offering a peaceful retreat away from urban hustle.

The strategic advantage of Dry Dock Campgrounds lies in its proximity to the Mississinewa Reservoir. This massive body of water, covering over 3,200 acres with an encompassing 14,000-acre recreation area, is a significant draw for outdoor enthusiasts in Indiana. The campground is described as being "situated right on top the beautiful Mississinewa reservoir," indicating excellent accessibility to the lake's myriad activities.

Amboy's location in north-central Indiana provides relatively easy access from various parts of the state. While it's a small town, its connections via local and state roads allow for convenient travel. Major thoroughfares such as US-31, a primary north-south route in Indiana, are typically within a reasonable driving distance, connecting Amboy to larger cities like Indianapolis to the south and South Bend to the north. Based on the nature of a well-run, long-term focused campground and insights from customer reviews, Dry Dock Campgrounds likely offers a range of services designed to make seasonal stays comfortable and convenient. While exhaustive details aren't always publicly listed for such operations, common services at campgrounds of this type often include:

  • Seasonal Campsite Rentals: The primary service, allowing campers to reserve a spot for the entire warm season, typically from spring through fall. This provides a stable base for their RV.
  • Full Hookups (Implied): For a campground catering to RVs and long stays, it's highly probable that sites offer essential hookups including electricity (30 and/or 50 amp), water, and sewer connections.
  • Well-Maintained Facilities: Reviews emphasize a "neat, tidy, clean" environment, which strongly suggests clean restrooms and showers, and overall well-kept grounds.
  • On-Site Management: A "well-run" campground implies active management to assist residents, maintain order, and handle any issues that arise.
  • Storage (Potential): Some seasonal campgrounds offer on-site winter storage for RVs, allowing residents to leave their units in place year-round. While not explicitly stated, it's a common offering.
  • Guest Sign-In System: Public information indicates a "Guest Sign IN" requirement, which helps ensure safety and manage visitor access to the premises, as a state requirement.

Dry Dock Campgrounds appears to offer several key features and highlights that contribute to its appeal as a long-term camping destination for Indiana locals:

  • Prime Location on Mississinewa Reservoir: This is arguably the biggest highlight. Being "right on top" the reservoir provides unparalleled access to boating, fishing, swimming, and other water-based recreation. The reservoir itself offers hiking trails, wildlife viewing, and various state recreation areas (Miami SRA, Red Bridge SRA, Frances Slocum SRA).
  • "Stay All Summer" Focus: Unlike short-term parks, Dry Dock caters to those seeking a more permanent, seasonal spot for their RV. This fosters a stable and friendly community atmosphere, as noted in reviews.

At this time, specific promotions or special offers for Dry Dock Campgrounds are not publicly advertised. As a seasonal campground that appears to cater to long-term stays, their availability might operate more on a waitlist basis, as suggested by their website's "Wait List" form. Pricing for seasonal sites is typically set for the entire season rather than nightly rates, offering a different kind of "value" through consistent access.

It is always recommended for interested parties to directly contact the campground to inquire about:

  • Current availability of seasonal sites.
  • Pricing for the upcoming season.
  • Details on any available RVs for purchase that are already located on a site within the campground (some long-term campgrounds facilitate this).
  • Any rare or limited-time incentives that might be offered, although these are less common for highly sought-after seasonal spots.

Given the positive reviews highlighting its desirability, potential residents might find that the primary "promotion" is the opportunity to secure a spot in a well-regarded seasonal community near a popular Indiana lake.

For more information, to inquire about current availability, or to add your name to their waitlist, you can contact Dry Dock Campgrounds using the following details:

  • Address: Amboy, IN 46911, USA (A more specific street address, 4780 W. 1100 S. Amboy, IN 46911, is also publicly listed for the owner/manager, Jeff Bonnell, and may be used for direct communication or navigation).
  • Phone: (574) 727-7297

It is advisable to call during typical business hours, or to utilize their online waitlist form if you are interested in a seasonal site, as per their website's instructions. When calling, be prepared to discuss details such as your camper's length and amperage, as these details are requested on their waitlist application.

This isn't a campground it's more of a trailor park. Half is campers and the other permanent trailors. A little pond in the middle. Paved roads throughout for golf carts.

What's the point of listing a business that has no address, no website, and no phone number?
