Customer Reviews
The Mississinewa Shelter & Amphitheater is the common area sort of between the the front and back section of the campgrounds. We used the shelter for our wedding reception. It is a great common area & lots of events held by DNR happen there throughout the camping season.
It is a very nice and clean facility. The staff has been both helpful and friendly. The reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the sites could use some leveling. I literally had the back end of my 17' trailer jacked all the way up on blocks and the tongue was still on the ground.
I'll start with the bad. The camp sites are very, very small. The electric campsite area looked like a mobile home park with all of the RVs stacked on top of each other, so close together. Fortunately, we are tent campers and we used a non-electric site. This area was not crowded (we didn't have neighbors on either side of us) and all had a significant amount of shade from trees. Our site, 459, was perfect. The pit toilets were fine. The bathhouses need updates as most of the showers fail to get hot and only one had a turn faucet. The others were push button. There also is a lot of rotting wood and a paucity of hooks for hanging your towels/clothes. The lake concession stand is awesome. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the pizza was. I recommend that you try it. Thw brand of ice cream that they swrveleaces much to be desired, But kids will love it. The lake is awesome. There are so many well maintained ramps for access. There are also areas that you can fish easily from the shore. Overall, we enjoyed this camp ground and we are looming forward to returning to the non-electric sites.
Great experience. I hope they update all the bathrooms soon. The new bath houses look amazing! Only problem we had, was the shower we used had a nossle opening smaller than a garden hose and was only two inches, if that, away from the wall pointing down. So when you wanted to rinse your body, half of it was touching the wall. Made us feel gross, because how many people touch that wall everyday?
It was a great weekend. Learned a new game, tried a new drink and I had a wonderful time. But we woke up to a water leak in the yard between camping spots which in turn was flooding both lots. Had to pick up and leave early not knowing how big is was going to flood ? That part was a bummer 😕
