Services Offered

Frontier Campground provides a range of essential services and amenities designed to ensure a comfortable and straightforward camping experience, particularly catering to those seeking longer stays or full-time RV living.

  • Full Hookup RV Sites: The campground offers a significant number of full hookup RV sites, meaning each site provides connections for electric (30-amp and 50-amp options available), water, and sewer. These sites are designed to be "Big Rig friendly" with pull-throughs and back-ins ranging from 40' to 100' long, accommodating various RV sizes.
  • Tent Sites: While the primary focus appears to be RV camping, the campground does offer tent sites, providing options for traditional campers.
  • Cabin Rentals: For those who prefer a more solid structure, rustic log cabins are available, equipped with electric, air conditioning, and heat, offering a comfortable alternative to tent or RV camping.
  • Laundry Facilities: A convenient laundry room is available on-site, a highly valued amenity for guests on longer stays.
  • Propane Sales: Propane is sold on the premises, allowing campers to easily refill their tanks without having to leave the campground.
  • Dump Station: An RV dump station is provided for convenient waste disposal.
  • Restrooms and Showers: The campground features a bathhouse with flushing toilets and showers, ensuring basic hygiene facilities are accessible to all campers.
  • Wi-Fi Access: Free Wi-Fi is available, though it's noted to be in the "barn with limited range," suggesting that a personal hot spot might be advisable if strong, consistent internet is crucial.
  • On-Site Management: The presence of a dedicated owner/manager who is frequently on-site, making improvements and attending to guest needs, is a significant service highlight, as noted in customer reviews. This personal oversight contributes to a well-maintained and responsive environment.
Features / Highlights

Frontier Campground offers several key features and highlights that make it a compelling choice for Ohio campers, particularly those valuing a tranquil atmosphere and a hands-on approach from management.

  • Peaceful, Wooded Setting: A primary highlight is the campground's "nestled in the woods" and "country setting," providing a peaceful and shady environment. This natural backdrop is ideal for "self-reflection" and getting away from the stresses of daily life, as noted by full-time campers.

  • Owner's Dedication and Trustworthiness: Customer reviews consistently praise the owner for being "accommodating," "trustworthy," and always having "his camper's in mind." The visible effort put into "fixing/improving nearly everyday" ensures that the campground is continuously evolving and well-maintained. • Proximity to Natural Attractions: The campground's location is a significant draw due to its close proximity to the Spring Valley Wildlife Area. This offers "plenty of wild life," as well as opportunities for "bike trails, fishing, and boating all close by." The Little Miami Scenic Trail is also easily accessible, providing miles of well-shaded paths for cycling and hiking.
  • Focus on Respectful Community: The campground promotes a simple yet effective philosophy: "follow the rules, police yourself, and be respectful." This emphasis on considerate behavior among campers contributes to the quiet and pleasant atmosphere, ensuring a positive experience for all.
  • Long-Term Stay Friendly: For those seeking extended stays or full-time camping, Frontier Campground is highly accommodating, providing an environment that fosters a sense of home for long-term residents. This is a unique feature that sets it apart from many transient campgrounds.
  • Basic Site Inclusions: All campground sites (tent, cabin, and RV) are equipped with electric, a picnic table, and a fire ring, ensuring basic comfort and convenience for all guests.
Promotions or Special Offers

Frontier Campground, while not typically running seasonal public promotions in the way a retail business might, does have specific pricing structures and policies that benefit both short-term and long-term guests in Ohio. Transparency regarding deposits and electricity charges is also a notable aspect of their offering.

  • Long-Term / Monthly Reservations: The campground is well-suited for long-term stays, with reviewers indicating that they accommodate monthly reservations. While specific monthly rates aren't listed as "promotions" in the traditional sense, they inherently offer a more economical rate compared to daily or weekly bookings, making it highly attractive for those looking for extended stays in Ohio.
  • Transparent Deposit System: The campground requires cash deposits for both the site ($500) and electricity ($200) upon registration. While a deposit, this system is presented transparently and is "refunded before checkout as long as you settle out your account and leave the site in good condition." This clear process builds trust, as noted by customer reviews.
  • Metered Electricity for Long-Term Stays: For long-term reservations, electricity is charged based on usage (currently $0.18/kwh) or at a flat rate via a gentlemen's agreement with the owner (e.g., Travel Trailer = ~$80/month, 5th Wheel = ~$100/month, Class A = ~$120/month). This metered system ensures fairness and cost-effectiveness for extended stays, giving campers control over their utility expenses.
  • No Reservation Fees (Implied): The direct booking and transparent payment structure suggest there are no hidden reservation fees, making the initial booking process straightforward.

It is important to note that cancellations typically result in no refunds, as the site is considered reserved for the guest. Weather-related discomforts are also not grounds for refunds, a standard policy for many campgrounds. For the most current rates and specific details on deposits and long-term stay options, Ohio residents are strongly encouraged to contact Frontier Campground directly.

I stayed here for two months with my young son and husband. The owner was accommodating, made space for us with no reservation. Theres a playground and trampoline. Very quiet and there's laundry. No other amenities though, it seems there's repairs needed on multiple areas but I saw the owner fixing/improving nearly everyday. He will request cash and a large deposit, but always provided receipts and is a trustworthy guy.

Full time camper here with a ton of experience. Frontier Campground is awesome! I've been to others that can't light a candle to this campground. Nestled in the woods, it's peaceful and a great place to self reflect. Plenty of wild life, bike trails, fishing, and boating all close by. Frontier Campground is safe and family friendly. The owner always has his camper's in mind. It's simple here: follow the rules, police yourself, and be respectful. From my point of view, if you want quick service, have a do as please attitude on business property, and promote stress, get a hotel room or stay home.

I was told by the owner of frontier campground Walter himself that he would "bury me" if I put any negative reviews on here but I want to warn everyone. I would give zero stars if I could. Avoid this place at all costs. My son, boyfriend and I lived there for around 8 months and it was total hell. He made us get rid of our sweet mastiff because he looked like a pit. Walter labeled him aggressive because he was playfully barking at him (while wagging his tail). My Aussie barked for an hour while we were gone during the day and he told us randomly on a Friday afternoon at 4pm that we all had to leave that night or he would keep my $750 deposit. I asked him if we could stay until the school year was over so my son can finish school (2 weeks away) to which he said no. We were paid up until the end of the month and he kicked us out on the 11th and kept our money. He did say if I got rid of my Aussie and left my boyfriend that night that I could stay. REALLY odd request from a landlord. I had to literally beg for my deposit back even when we kept our end of the deal and left that night. He put us in quite the pinch having a matter of a couple hours to find a place to go and move there.he even tried to keep my flower pots that i planted hundreds of dollars worth of flowers in. He's also completely creepy around women he checks them out and makes them uncomfortable and tries to cause chaos in their relationships by saying their man is cheating on them or lying to them etc (did it to me and other women). My son's best friend lived across the street from us at frontier and now my son isn't even allowed to go over and hangout with him anymore because we dropped him and/or his friend off and picked them up (we obeyed the speed limit and did nothing wrong, just wanted to make sure my son and his friend made it to their destination safely). So now apparently my 11 year old isn't allowed to be around his best friend according to Walter. This isn't anywhere close to every problem we've had with him. He always carries a gun and is super unstable. He told me once he was gonna snap one day. I would stay far away from this campground if you don't like drama or constantly being threatened with being kicked out (he does this to almost everyone there except for his friends ). Thanks for taking the time to read this

As I read some of the reviews posted here, I find many of the comments false & misleading so I'm here to share our personal experiences. Walter, the owner, is kind, approachable & shows concern for our safety while staying here so when I read some of the disparaging comments about his demeanor with woman, well I was frankly blown away with the blatant & outright lies! I have NEVER felt uncomfortable around him & my husband hasn't either over the several years we've been coming here. I feel comfortable enough to have even been his office secretary for 2 1/2 years prior to retiring. I certainly wouldn't have done that had I had any misgivings about his character! My husband travels with work so my safety while he's gone is very important which is one reason we enjoy staying here. Walter has the grounds monitored by security cameras & he often patrols the grounds with a sidearm which is his absolute right & we certainly appreciate the added security in our behalf. If you're someone who has a problem with him carrying then you're just anti-gun. He doesn't put up with any riffraff and will ask people who cause problems or don't follow the very simple campground rules to leave so that others are able to enjoy their stay. I don't like reviews because, as in many cases I've seen, people will stretch the truth or outright lie which can be harmful to a business but more importantly is defamation of a good man's character! If you're looking to stay at a beautiful, quiet campground that's ran by a man that is worried about your safety & comfort while you're camping then this is the place to come....we love it here and it's largely because of the way Walter runs it for our benefit.

Tenants whom follow the rules of any establishment, usually have nothing negative to say. People who can't follow simple rules like keeping your dog on a leash, picking up after your dog, keeping your camper and area around your camper clean and free of trash and clutter. These are your basic rules of any campground. As well as if you are told to leave, you don't come back for any reason..that's true with jobs, relationships etc. No business working with the public is easy. The customer is not always right and a little respect for your fellow campers goes a long way. I have been here for over 3yrs.. I abide by the rules and respect the owner . I have never had any issues. There are many happy campers that have stayed here and never had anything bad to say...but there are always those ones that no matter what you do, you're always the bad guy.
