Situated on OH-73, this campground is more than just a place to pitch a tent; it's a gateway to scenic trails, tranquil natural settings, and a perfect spot for group gatherings. Designed to provide a genuine outdoor adventure, Fifty Springs caters to those who appreciate a less developed, more natural camping environment, ideal for creating memorable experiences with friends, family, or organized groups.

The essence of Fifty Springs Group Campground is captured in the feedback from visitors who have explored its natural offerings. Another reviewer noted the "Great rustic area" and the "huge pavilion," suggesting excellent facilities for group activities. While acknowledging some logistical points like "parking is a maple" (likely a typo, perhaps meaning 'a maze' or simply challenging) and locked restrooms in early spring, the overall sentiment points to a valuable natural resource. The emphasis on a "rustic trail" that is "easily 5 kilometers around the peninsula and very scenic with nicely maintained paved road access" underscores its appeal for those looking for robust hiking options within a natural, yet accessible, setting. Fifty Springs Group Campground provides a true taste of Ohio's wilderness, making it a prime choice for locals eager to explore their state's outdoor treasures.

Location and Accessibility

Fifty Springs Group Campground is conveniently located on OH-73, in Waynesville, OH 45068, USA. Waynesville, often referred to as the "Antiques Capital of Ohio," offers a charming small-town atmosphere with access to local amenities, while the campground itself provides a serene, rustic escape.

The campground's location on OH-73 ensures relatively straightforward accessibility for Ohio residents. This state route connects to various major highways, making the journey to Fifty Springs manageable from different parts of the state, including the greater Cincinnati and Dayton areas. Services Offered

Fifty Springs Group Campground, based on its name and available reviews, focuses on providing essential services for group camping and outdoor activities within a rustic setting. While not a full-service commercial campground with extensive amenities, it offers key features that support a natural and communal camping experience.

  • Group Camping Facilities: As a "Group Campground," its primary service is to provide designated areas and facilities suitable for larger groups. This typically includes sizable camping plots, and potentially multiple picnic tables and designated fire rings, allowing groups to camp together comfortably.
  • Large Pavilion: A significant amenity mentioned in reviews is a "huge pavilion." This service is invaluable for group gatherings, offering a covered space for meals, activities, or shelter from the elements, enhancing the functionality of the campground for events.
  • Access to Hiking Trails: The presence of the "50 Springs trail" and "rustic trail... easily 5 kilometers around the peninsula" highlights a core service: providing well-defined and scenic hiking opportunities directly from the campground. These trails cater to varying levels of hikers and allow exploration of the natural surroundings.
  • Paved Road Access: Reviews note "nicely maintained paved road access" to the campground. While seeming basic, this is a crucial service ensuring smooth and easy entry for all types of vehicles, making it accessible even for larger group transport or RVs (though the focus is on group camping, not individual RV sites necessarily).
  • Restroom Facilities (with caveats): Although one review mentioned restrooms were "still locked at the end of March," indicating seasonal or access limitations, their presence and description as "appeared very nice" suggest that functional and well-maintained restroom facilities are a service provided during operational periods. It's important to confirm their availability upon booking.
  • Natural Setting: While not a direct "service," the provision of a "Great rustic area" and a "very scenic" environment is a fundamental offering. The campground provides the natural backdrop for camping, offering peace, tranquility, and opportunities for nature observation.

It is always advisable for group leaders or prospective campers to contact the campground directly to confirm specific available amenities and their operational status, especially regarding restrooms and water access, for their planned visit.

  • Beautiful Scenery and Water Access: The trails are described as "very pretty" and some lead "to the water," suggesting scenic views and potential access points to a body of water (likely associated with Caesar Creek State Park). This enhances recreational opportunities like nature photography or simply enjoying riverside tranquility.

These features collectively make Fifty Springs Group Campground a prime choice for Ohioans looking for a robust, nature-focused group camping experience with excellent hiking opportunities and practical facilities for large gatherings.

I just hiked the 50 Springs trail today for the first time. I felt a little unclear even though I was able to get through the trail. And not get on the perimeter trail. It's very pretty and there are little trails that go to the water. We had fun!

A great trail took us 2 hours to finish. PROBLEM-it's the orange trail and is NOT marked as such. There is yellow paint on the trail trees not orange. After two wrong turns found our way. Needs some looking after. Trees down over trail in several places, very overgrown, out of control tall weeds across trail in many areas, and lots of poison ivy.
