It's important for potential visitors to understand that while this is a dedicated group site, its popularity and location within a busy state park mean shared public access is a factor. This aspect, while leading to some unique considerations, also speaks to the campground's desirability due to its prime location and access to varied recreational opportunities. For Ohio locals seeking a memorable group camping experience with access to lake activities and trails, Cedar Point Group Campground remains a top contender for creating lasting outdoor memories.
Cedar Point Group Campground is located on Old Clarksville Rd in Waynesville, Ohio, with the full address being Waynesville, OH 45068, USA. This places it directly within the expansive and popular Caesar Creek State Park. For Ohio residents, its location in Waynesville makes it a reasonably accessible destination from various parts of the state, particularly for those in the southwestern and central regions.
The campground's position within Caesar Creek State Park is a significant advantage. This park is a major recreational area in Ohio, well-known for its large lake, diverse natural habitats, and extensive trail systems. The road leading to Cedar Point Group Campground, Old Clarksville Rd, is a public access route that allows for convenient entry and exit, even for vehicles towing trailers or carrying substantial camping gear for a large group.
Accessibility around the campground itself is generally good, designed to accommodate multiple vehicles and camping setups typical of a group site. Its proximity to key park features, such as the lake for swimming and fishing, and various hiking trails, means that activities are often just a short walk or drive away. While the reviews mention the presence of hikers and day-use visitors passing through or near the camp, this also highlights its integrated location within an active outdoor recreational area. This blend of dedicated group space and easy access to park amenities makes it a convenient and desirable option for Ohioans planning a group outdoor adventure.

As a facility within the Ohio State Park system, Cedar Point Group Campground operates under the general policies of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). Specific "promotions" or "special offers" in the commercial sense are not typically offered for state park campgrounds. Instead, the value and benefits come from the state's commitment to providing accessible outdoor recreation for its residents.
However, Ohio locals planning a visit might benefit from general state park policies or affiliations:
- Advance Reservations: While not a discount, the ability to reserve group campsites well in advance (typically up to one year) is a significant advantage, especially for popular sites like Cedar Point. This ensures your group can secure their desired dates, a valuable 'offer' in terms of planning certainty.
- Ohio Resident Discounts: Ohio State Parks may offer various discounts for eligible residents, such as those holding a Golden Buckeye Card (for seniors 60 and over) or for military personnel (active and retired). It is always advisable to inquire about these potential savings when making a reservation.
- Youth Group & Non-Profit Rates: While not universally advertised, some state park systems may offer reduced rates or specific considerations for official youth groups (e.g., Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts) or registered non-profit organizations. It's worth contacting the park office directly to inquire if your group qualifies for any special provisions.
- Seasonal Value: Visiting during off-peak seasons (e.g., early spring or late fall, avoiding major holidays) can offer a more peaceful experience and potentially easier booking, providing a different kind of 'value' compared to peak summer crowds.
For the most current and accurate information regarding any potential cost-saving opportunities or reservation policies that could benefit your group, it is always recommended to contact Caesar Creek State Park directly or visit the official Ohio State Parks website (ReserveOhio.com).

For Ohio locals, Cedar Point Group Campground in Waynesville offers a compelling opportunity for large-scale outdoor adventures, balancing the beauty of nature with the practicalities of group accommodation. While some reviews point to the shared nature of the park and its trails, this characteristic also underscores its primary suitability: it's a vibrant, active outdoor hub that provides direct access to some of Ohio's best natural resources.
The core strength of Cedar Point is its dedication as a "group site." This means it's designed to handle multiple tents, vehicles, and the varied needs of a large party, offering more space and flexibility than individual campsites. For Ohio families planning a big reunion, scout leaders organizing an excursion, or friends seeking a communal camping experience, this setup is invaluable. It provides a central base from which to explore the expansive Caesar Creek State Park.
Its location is a major draw. Proximity to Caesar Creek Lake means opportunities for swimming, fishing, and boating are readily available. The "random people hiking" mentioned in reviews, while potentially a consideration for privacy, also highlights that the campground is embedded within an active trail network, inviting campers to easily step out for a hike or explore the surrounding woodlands. This access to diverse outdoor activities is a significant benefit for Ohioans eager to make the most of their state's natural beauty.
Furthermore, the positive feedback about the campground staff is a testament to the welcoming atmosphere and the support available to campers. Knowing there are helpful individuals at the check-in and store area can greatly enhance the overall experience, especially for groups who might have specific needs or questions during their stay. For Ohio locals, Cedar Point Group Campground, despite its active environment, offers a unique and well-equipped setting for creating memorable group camping experiences, fostering connection with nature and each other.

Really nice group site BUT......... Random people hiking and using the area are going to walk through your camp all day long, all night long, day use people are going to absolutely wreck your group campsite restroom and drive around the circle blasting their radio or yelling without any regard for your camp reservation. Random people camped out in the woods behind us during our reservation also. Would be such a wonderful camping spot but people hiking the trails or there to swim and fish will be coming right through the middle of your camp non stop. There are no rules or anything posted regarding day use people to respect the group campers. Might stay again sometime in the future, might not. This weekend we rented a cabin for Halloween fun. We had such a good time. I want to give a HUGE shout out to the staff inside the campground store and check in area! Today they went out of their way to help my daughter! Thank you! You all JAM 💐✌️
Very nice camp site. Shelter with plenty of tables, fire pit, 2 grills, lantern hook?, bathrooms (not bad for a park), garbage can, parking lot, access to the perimeter trail, plenty of room to put up tents in the "infield", and a lovely little shore area at the very end of the peninsula about 100 yards down the path near the shelter. We would definitely stay at this site again. Lots of people driving and walking through so don't leave anything out (a grill was stolen from a neighboring site while they were hiking).
A favorite group camp site. The only real downside is that this location has gotten more and more popular over the years, so there's a lot of people walking through your campsite, especially on weekends.
Nice hiking trail. Beautiful scenery. Easy access from multiple parking areas along park drive.
