Marina Campground About
For Kansans who cherish lakeside adventures, boating, and the simple joys of camping, Marina Campground near Mt. Hope offers a promising spot to drop anchor and set up camp. Situated near the expansive waters of Cheney Lake, this campground is a gateway to a world of aquatic recreation, fishing, and outdoor relaxation. While some aspects might require a bit of patience, the potential for a memorable lakeside experience, combined with access to a marina and friendly service, makes it a noteworthy option for your next Kansas outdoor excursion.
The reviews from fellow Kansans offer a candid glimpse into the experience at Marina Campground. One visitor, after enjoying a meal at the marina, "noticed quite a few things available for campers.. and Snackers.. the meal that was purchased was very good.. we'll be going back!" This highlights the convenience of having dining options and potential amenities right at the marina, enhancing the overall camping experience. The mention of the water being "low in Cheney" is a common seasonal fluctuation for many Kansas lakes, important for boaters to note, but not a deterrent to the core appeal of being near the lake.
Another review, while offering constructive criticism, points to areas of potential improvement that, once addressed, could elevate the campground significantly. This reviewer noted, "Sorry but this place has much to be desired 😒 Let's say the picture I'm posting of the firering will always apply to the bathrooms. And the map and the legend is a total joke. We did meet a really nice parlor employee who offered to lead us to the actual campground at the ready entrance. Do I day signage was also bad😕 Could be awesome with a little elbow grease and better maps!!" This feedback, while critical, underscores the potential for a truly "awesome" experience with better maintenance and clearer signage. It also highlights the positive impact of helpful staff ("a really nice parlor employee who offered to lead us"), suggesting a core of good customer service despite facility challenges. For locals, understanding these aspects can help manage expectations and still enjoy the primary benefit: lakeside access.

It is recommended to have a clear understanding of the route or utilize GPS directions carefully, especially when arriving after dark.

We were hungry and ate at the marina.. while waiting for the food.. we walked around some and noticed quite a few things available for campers.. and Snackers.. the meal that was purchased was very good.. we'll be going back! Downslide was the water was low in Cheney..

I picked up way too much trash out there but not near as much as other areas lakes. They need to turn the fan down a notch or two on the lake and it seems the AC on the dock wasn't working. The marina had very helpful staff and plenty of minnows. Be sure to check out the marina. All in all it was a wonderful place to fish and relax.
Of all the photos to post of the campground, I cannot believe you post a photo of a snake eating a fish. I don’t think it’s necessary to post for people interested in what the area is like.
Amazing hidden gem at Cheney State Park, Small Campsites so great for camping friends and family. Nice shady campsites and in the protected cove of Marina. **Only 30amp electric sites, with water hook up, and soon to come wireless fiber optic internet provided through Ideatech**
