A campground is a designated area where individuals and families can set up temporary lodging, whether it's a tent, a recreational vehicle (RV), or even a rented cabin. This address places it directly on the shores of Lake Michigan in the charming city of Bridgman, which is located in Berrien County, in the southwestern part of Michigan. The prime location is a major draw for campers, offering unparalleled access to one of the Great Lakes.

Bridgman is known for its beautiful beaches and natural areas, providing a serene backdrop for a camping experience. The campground’s location on Lake Street suggests direct, or at least very close, proximity to the beach itself, as confirmed by customer reviews highlighting the "beautiful" beach and "waves like a real beach." Accessibility to Weko Beach Campground is generally straightforward for Michigan residents. It is conveniently located near major highways such as I-94, which runs through Southwest Michigan, making it an easy drive from larger cities like Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and even Chicago, Illinois. This allows for quick weekend getaways or extended vacations without excessive travel time. Furthermore, the proximity to other popular attractions like Warren Dunes State Park, which is a short distance down the beach, adds to the appeal, offering additional recreational opportunities. For locals, the ease of access to such a significant natural landmark makes Weko Beach Campground an excellent choice for a lakeside escape.

Services Offered

Weko Beach Campground offers a range of services and facilities to enhance the camping experience for its guests, catering to both RV and tent campers, as well as those opting for cabins.

  • Campsites: The campground provides designated campsites for tents and RVs. While specific hookup details (e.g., 30/50 amp electric, water, sewer) are not explicitly detailed, most established campgrounds offer a variety of options. It's recommended to inquire directly about available hookups for RVs.

  • Cabin Rentals: The campground offers cabins for rent, described as having "one double size bed and one twin bunk beds." These cabins provide a comfortable alternative to traditional camping, complete with amenities like a fire-pit and picnic table. Guests should bring their own linens and warm clothes for chilly nights.

  • Restrooms and Showers: Access to bathroom and shower facilities is provided. However, a customer review notes that there might not be "enough bathroom/shower facilities," requiring a "quite a ways" walk or drive from some spots. Outhouses are available closer to certain areas.

  • Fire-Pits and Picnic Tables: Each campsite or cabin typically comes with a fire-pit for campfires and a picnic table for outdoor dining, enhancing the traditional camping experience.

  • Firewood Sales: Campers can purchase firewood on-site at a cost of $7.00 per bundle, offering convenience for campfires.

  • Beach Access: The campground provides direct or very close access to Weko Beach on Lake Michigan, allowing guests to easily enjoy swimming, sunbathing, and other beach activities.

It is always advisable for prospective campers to confirm specific amenities and their locations within the campground, especially concerning restroom and shower access, to ensure a comfortable stay.

Features / Highlights

Weko Beach Campground offers several distinctive features and highlights that contribute to its appeal as a camping destination in Michigan, particularly for those seeking a lakeside experience.

  • Direct Lake Michigan Beach Access: The most significant highlight is the "beautiful" beach with "white soft sand and waves like a real beach." This direct access to Lake Michigan is a major draw, providing opportunities for swimming, sunbathing, and enjoying stunning sunsets. The beach is comparable to those found further south, like Warren Dunes State Park.

  • Comfortable Cabin Rentals: The availability of cabins, complete with beds, a fire-pit, and a picnic table, offers a comfortable alternative to tent or RV camping, ideal for those seeking a more glamping-style experience or who are not fully equipped for traditional camping.

  • Friendly and Helpful Staff: A positive customer review highlights the "friendly and helpful" campground staff, indicating a welcoming atmosphere and a willingness to assist guests.

  • Serene and Fun Atmosphere: Despite some minor issues, the overall experience is described as "very serene and fun time," suggesting a relaxing yet enjoyable environment for campers.

  • Proximity to Warren Dunes State Park: The campground's location near Warren Dunes State Park is a significant bonus, offering expanded recreational opportunities, including a dedicated "dog beach" at Warren Dunes for pet owners.

  • On-site Amenities: The provision of a fire-pit and picnic table at each site, along with the convenience of on-site firewood sales, enhances the camping experience.

However, it's important to note some challenges mentioned in reviews. These include potential misinformation regarding golf cart usage (leading to police intervention due to lack of street-legal features like blinkers/seatbelts/insurance and park pass) and a perceived lack of sufficient bathroom/shower facilities, requiring long walks or drives. There was also a mention of an entire day being impacted by "mass of flys biting everyone" on the beach. While these points highlight areas for improvement, the overwhelming draw remains the beautiful beach and overall positive atmosphere.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a municipal or public campground (often managed by the city of Bridgman), Weko Beach Campground typically operates on a set rate schedule rather than offering frequent, dynamic "promotions" like private businesses. However, there are inherent value propositions and established pricing structures that campers in Michigan should be aware of:

  • Varying Rates by Season and Site Type: Camping fees generally differ based on the time of year (peak season vs. off-season) and the type of site (e.g., RV site with hookups, tent site, cabin rental). Cabin rentals will naturally be at a higher price point than basic campsites.

  • Potential for Off-Peak Value: Visiting during the shoulder seasons (spring or fall) might offer a more peaceful experience with potentially lower rates, though specific pricing for these periods should be confirmed.

  • Park Entry Fees: It's important to note that while Weko Beach Campground provides direct beach access, there is a cost for parking at Weko Beach itself, as indicated in a review. This is an additional fee beyond the camping rate.

  • Proximity to Free Dog Beach: While not a direct promotion from Weko Beach Campground, the close proximity to Warren Dunes State Park, which offers a "dog beach" with no parking cost, can be seen as an indirect benefit for pet owners.

For the most accurate and up-to-date information on rates, availability, and any specific policies (like golf cart usage or pet restrictions), it is always best to directly contact Weko Beach Campground. Inquiring about all associated fees, including parking, is crucial for planning your budget.

Beach is beautiful. Campground staff was friendly and helpful. I'd called to see I could bring my golf cart as to assist in getting to the beach and back from our camping spot. I reconfirm this a week before my trip. After getting there, checking in with my golf cart, I set up and used the golf cart to get wood. I was immediately stopped by a cop before even getting to the booth to be told he'll speak to the campground but because I don't have blinkers, seat belts, a campground pass and it wasn't insured. I explained is actually insured and the city I live in, it is as legal as a regular or electric bike and we just use hand signals). The staff of the campground told me to email someone who can get me a pass but I'm now home days after leaving and still never got a response or pass. Due to the misinformation, it made for a pretty miserable trips to the beach in 90°+ Not sure why but 1 entire day we couldn't even stay at the beach due to mass of flys biting everyone.

Weko Beach Campground is really nice. My Sister and I rented one of the Cabins and it was nice also. It had one double size bed and one twin bunk beds. They were comfortable. Bring warm clothes too during the summer. It got very chilly at night and we weren't prepared for that. Only thing we didn't like was they don't have enough bathroom/shower facilities. We had to either drive or walk quite a ways to go to the closest facility near our cabin. They do provide outhouses that are closer though. There was a good fire-pit and picnic table. Bring your own firewood or buy it there. Cost was $7.00 per bundle. The beach is really beautiful, white soft sand and waves like a real beach, especially further down to Warren Dunes State Park. Made me feel like I was back on Maui. If you have a dog or dogs, there is a dog beach at Warren Dunes. No cost for parking either, but be prepared to pay for parking at Weko Beach. All in all, it was a very serene and fun time at Weko Beach Campground ⛱️🦮 😎 😍

We stayed in a cabin for a long weekend in early May. Upon check in, we found there was an error on the internet, that resulted in our room not being what was described. I went back to the check in office and spoke with a manager. She told me that there wasn’t anything she could do, as they were booked full for the weekend…. She could offer us our money back, or we could accept the incorrect arrangement… I told her I paid extra to make sure we got the arrangements we wanted, she should move us to a cabin that has the features we paid for… She said she couldn’t, so at that point I asked to speak to someone above the manager. the park director took over my issue and after a few uncomfortable minutes, she agreed to move us…. After this little issue was resolved, we had a wonderful stay!! Our cabin was small, which we expected, but bigger than our tent we are accustomed to. It kept us warm and completely dry during the few rain showers we had. We sat in the cabin, listening to the rain hit our roof, feeling sorry for all the soggy, wet, tent camping folks. And we decided that our tent camping days are most likely over… time to start looking at campers…. Behind our cabin is a beautiful wooded area, we found a “lean-to” shelter someone built Naked & Afraid style, While we gathered small sticks and logs to burn… From this point on, these firewood gathering missions would now be known as a “Naked & Afraid”… As in, “Hey, we’re low on firewood, wanna go buy some, or do a Naked & Afraid?” The police patrolled the campgrounds on a regular basis, but I never saw a need for them. Our little area of the campground was full, but it stayed relatively quiet. Great place to bring the whole family!!! Oh, did I forget to mention the beach??? Cmon, Florida may have palm trees, but you can’t beat the sand and water of Weko Beach and Lake Michigan. Absolutely Beautiful…Stunning…. Gorgeous… The best of both worlds… Forest, Woods, Trails, Streams… And just a few feet from the White Sand Beach and Crystal Clear Waters of Lake Michigan.

I camped here about a month ago. The spots are very close together, especially on the south portion of the campground where we were staying. The east and west parts seem to have a little more space, but not much more. I did not like the fire pits either. They were tire rims and you could move them wherever you needed to. So there were piles of ashes in places where people previously had fires. The only thing that makes this campground worth the stay is the beautiful beach. If you are camping, you can either drive to the beach parking lot in which you need to pay, or you can walk up and down stairs and walk to the beach. The beach has a little building with restrooms and concessions. Overall, Weko Beach is beautiful. The campground, not so much. The beach does make it worth the visit though.

This is pretty much just an experience piece. We arrived in a consistent light drizzle so we were not able to enjoy most of the campgrounds features. The main reason behind this review is to let folks know that this campground has great potential. We were able to walk the beaches and a few of the camping areas. The beaches are worth camping here. The sites are clean. they are not as defined as COE parks but they held our 38' Class A without issue. Although their website does not mention the ability to take larger rigs, there are some sites that can and our site may have been able to take a 43 footer. Leveling may be difficult but not impossible. Just understand that the campsites are kind of secondary to the primary draw which is the beach. They have room for grills and the basics. Not tiny, just right for up to 6 people or so. Other campers were nice and approachable, there were all ages represented in our walks. I do recommend this campground, we will be going back at some point to see the summer life here. We went in September.
