Location and Accessibility

The St. Johns River Water Management District Group Camp is located in Mims, FL 32754, USA. This places it within the northern reaches of Brevard County, bordering the vast natural lands managed by the SJRWMD. While Mims is the nearest town, the campsite itself is nestled deep within a natural preserve, away from major roads, ensuring a truly secluded experience.

For Floridians, reaching the Mims area is straightforward. From Orlando, the drive is typically about 45 minutes to an hour, making it a feasible distance for weekend trips or longer group excursions. From Daytona Beach, it's approximately a 30-minute drive south, and from Melbourne, about an hour north. The proximity to major highways like I-95 and US-1 provides excellent access to the general area. However, it is crucial to understand that specific directions to the group camp within the preserve will be provided by the SJRWMD upon confirmed reservation. These often involve navigating well-maintained but unpaved management roads, adding to the sense of adventure and seclusion.

The campsite's location within lands managed by the St. Johns River Water Management District is a significant advantage. This means your group will have direct access to pristine natural environments, perfect for kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and extensive hiking. While this remote setting often means limited to no cell service, it contributes to the desired unplugged experience, allowing groups to fully immerse themselves in the natural surroundings without digital distractions.

The road in is washboard, it's packing in pack it out. I would not recommend a large rigs. I was able to get my van turned around easily. If you can't handle flying insects don't go. Lots of wildlife. I plan on going back. Maybe I'll run into the idiot who started a campfire in the middle of the road. Thank you Saint John's water Management district it's a beautiful, quiet place.

If it wasnt for the noise from the boat ramp near by it would get 5 stars. If you want quiet with no motor noise this is not the camp site to book. Unless it is raining non stop get ready for truck and airboat noise all hours of the day.
