This isn't just any campground; it's a comprehensive recreation area designed to provide a serene and enjoyable experience for military personnel, their families, and on a space-available basis, DoD civilians. Imagine waking up to the sounds of nature, casting a line into a peaceful pond, or simply enjoying the abundant wildlife that calls this place home. Holbrook Pond offers a unique blend of tranquility and amenities, making it a prime destination for your next Georgia adventure.

Holbrook Pond is conveniently located at 7336 Austin Road, Fort Stewart, GA 31315, which is just about 10 minutes from Hinesville, GA. For those familiar with the Fort Stewart area, you'll find it accessible within the installation, ensuring a secure and well-maintained environment. While it offers a feeling of being immersed in nature, it's not so remote that it becomes difficult to reach, making it perfect for weekend getaways or longer stays for Georgia residents. Keep in mind that as it's located on a military installation, access policies apply, primarily serving active duty military, retirees, 100% disabled veterans, and DoD civilians, with space available for regular civilians. This controlled access often contributes to the peaceful and well-kept nature of the grounds, as noted by many visitors. When planning your trip, be sure to confirm any specific gate access requirements for non-military ID holders.

Holbrook Pond goes above and beyond to provide a comfortable and convenient camping experience. Here's a rundown of the services you can expect:

  • Variety of Campsites: The campground boasts 30 sites in total, offering flexibility for different camping styles. This includes 10 full hookup sites (water, electric, sewer) perfect for RVs, and the remaining sites providing electric and water hookups. Tent sites are also available for those who prefer a more traditional camping experience.

  • Clean Bathhouse and Laundry Facilities: Guests have access to a well-maintained bathhouse with restrooms and showers, ensuring comfort and hygiene during your stay. Additionally, on-site laundry facilities are a significant convenience, especially for longer visits.

  • Excellent Wi-Fi Availability: Staying connected is easy at Holbrook Pond, as excellent Wi-Fi is available, a pleasant surprise for a campground setting. While T-Mobile service might be spotty, Verizon is reported to work very well.

  • Dog Parks: For those traveling with their furry companions, Holbrook Pond features two dedicated dog parks, providing a safe and enjoyable space for your pets to run and play.

  • MWR Equipment Rental: The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) facility allows you to rent various items, which can be incredibly useful for enhancing your outdoor activities without needing to own all the gear yourself.

  • Dump Station: For RV campers, a convenient dump station is available on-site for waste disposal.

  • Picnic Areas and Pavilions: Various picnic areas with grills and tables, as well as screened and unscreened pavilions, are available for day use or group gatherings, some with playgrounds nearby.

  • Recreational Activities: Beyond camping and fishing, the area offers opportunities for hiking, biking, and bird watching. There's also a swimming beach and a boat ramp for water activities.

  • Spacious and Well-Maintained Sites: Reviews frequently mention the large, well-shaded campsites, particularly the back-in sites in the wooded areas. The entire area is noted for being very well maintained and clean.

  • On-Site Camp Host: There is a camp host located in site #1, providing an accessible point of contact for guests and contributing to the welcoming atmosphere.

  • Proximity to Local Attractions: While offering a secluded feel, Holbrook Pond is not far from Hinesville and Richmond Hill, providing convenient access to shops, restaurants, and other local amenities if needed.

I took my dog out here one afternoon after work. There were very few people out so our visit was quiet and peaceful as we walked around the pond. I know that there are alligators here, we are in South GA, but we didn’t see any.

Nice place to stay. Lots of room between campers. Most campgrounds would put another site between the current sites and still be better than most. New pull through sites being added (10). Nice walking trail and a pond to fish in. Close to Ft Stewart main post. Free laundry only three washers and dryers.

Do not bother to go to Holbrook pond if you are planning to catch fish. It not going to happen. To call it a public fishing area is falsehood. They have stopped managing the fishing area years ago. The only time any fish is in the pond is for the annual fishing derby. Soon after the derby, some come in and overfish emptying the pond in about four days. In the past, Holbrook was a great place to fish. Because of mismanagement and overfishing, it is the worse place to fish.

I was very impressed how the grounds and campground was well managed and kept up. Very clean bathrooms, quiet, nice trails around the pond. Sarah the camp host was very friendly as well as Sarah at the MWR office. I will definitely come back again. June 2020
