Introduction / Overview
For Rhode Island residents, escaping the bustle of city life doesn't always require a long drive out of state. Holiday Acres Camp Grounds, nestled in the quiet, scenic town of North Scituate, RI, provides a long-established and popular local destination for both seasonal and recreational camping. Operating for over half a century, this campground has become a cherished retreat for families, couples, and individuals looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the Ocean State.
The core appeal of Holiday Acres lies in its strong sense of community and its waterfront access. Many campers here are seasonal, forming lasting friendships and a welcoming atmosphere, as one long-time patron happily notes: “My family and I have been seasonal campers at Holiday Acres for seven years and love it here! The beach on the lake, fishing, relaxing, and the friends we’ve made over the years are all reasons why we love it here.” This highlights the campground’s success in creating a second home environment. The grounds cater to a variety of needs, offering RV sites, tent areas, and convenient camping cabins for rent, ensuring an option for nearly every Rhode Island family's outdoor adventure.
While some public reviews point to areas that could benefit from road and utility updates, the overall sentiment consistently praises the friendly staff, the cleanliness of the essential facilities (like the restrooms), and the overall value provided, with sites noted as "sizable compared to other locations with seasonal camping." The commitment to ongoing fun, with scheduled bands, food trucks, and varied activities, keeps the atmosphere lively and engaging throughout the season.
Location and Accessibility
Holiday Acres Camp Grounds is conveniently located at 593 Snake Hill Rd in North Scituate, RI 02857. This positioning places it right in the heart of Rhode Island’s rural landscape, often referred to as the West Bay or rural Providence County, yet it remains incredibly accessible to the state's urban centers.
The location offers the best of both worlds for Rhode Islanders: a quiet, peaceful setting surrounded by woods and a lake, combined with exceptional proximity to major destinations. For those who need to remain connected to the city, the camp grounds boast an "easy commute to Providence," as noted by one visitor who was in town for work. This means that while campers can enjoy starry nights and a relaxing atmosphere, they are only a short drive away from work, hospitals, and major shopping areas.
The campground is situated around the Coomer's Reservoir area, providing a truly natural, tranquil backdrop. The easy drive from central and southern Rhode Island makes it a practical choice for locals seeking a quick weekend escape or a full summer of seasonal camping without the long-distance travel stress associated with leaving the state. Its relative proximity to the state capital and other towns like Glocester and Chepachet solidifies its position as a highly convenient local retreat.

My family and I have been seasonal campers at Holiday Acres for seven years and love it here! The beach on the lake, fishing, relaxing, and the friends we’ve made over the years are all reasons why we love it here. The prices are reasonable and the sites are sizable compared to other locations with seasonal camping. There are bands and food trucks scheduled on weekends throughout the summer in addition to various activities for kids and adults. The kid’s rec hall is frequented by our son with games and tables to play cards and other games. Guests are allowed to visit and/or stay overnight for a fee. It’s a great place where a family can enjoy time together.

Aug 17, 2025 · Joe WithamThis place has so much drama and the manager does nothing about it. He is one sided and rude. Also, he has his staff do his dirty work. They need a better manager in that place. The campground has so much potential and he does nothing to improve it. It has little to none amenities. It's gets improve with campers expenses. I have also learned to many snitches that report to him. I will never stay at a campground that I have to walk on eggshells. You are there to make memories not to be watched! Hopefully someday that campground will go back to what it once was.
