Unlike some of the busier Ohio lakes, Leesville Lake maintains a 10 horsepower maximum limit for boats, ensuring a calm and tranquil atmosphere that truly sets it apart.

Operated by the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District, Leesville Lake South Fork Campground is nestled on the picturesque shores of Leesville Lake, known for its excellent fishing and inviting ambiance. It's a place where the sounds of nature prevail over the roar of high-speed boats, making it an ideal destination for families and individuals looking to enjoy the water at a relaxed pace. While it might be a smaller campground with a unique first-come, walk-in policy for travel trailers, its prime location next to the lake and the available marina services significantly enhance its appeal.

The campground emphasizes a more traditional camping experience, offering both tent and limited RV sites. Visitors frequently praise the beauty and quietude of the lake itself, highlighting it as a prime spot for kayaking, paddleboarding, and fishing for muskie, saugeye, and other popular Ohio species. However, general pricing insights can be gleaned from user reviews. One reviewer noted a primitive tent site costing $42, which they considered expensive given the lack of shower facilities. Most expensive campsite I've been to since hiking 500 miles from the Atlantic in Delaware a month ago. $42 for primitive tent site only. No shower facilities. Very good view, and good location for those wishing to go fishing. For thru hikers on the Buckeye trail I'd suggest finding alternative accommodation options for value for money.

Very small campground. It is first come, walk-in, only for travel trailers. Most of the sites were occupied by seasonal campers. We made the mistake of driving down believing we would find a spot...nope! Looks like there are some great tent sites,; there was signage that a permit is required. On a huge positive note: the marina here has a kayak launch and a 2 lane boat ramp. The lake is beautiful and quiet. 10 hp max. So it's not a place you can water ski. Nice family place. The marina rents kayaks, paddle boards and pontoon boats. We had our own kayaks and really enjoyed our 10 mile paddle along the south shore!

Mike the camp manager was very helpful. Actually lots of season campers were. Gave us a plug to take the 30 amp service down to a 15 amp extension cord for phone charger. You can camp despite what sign says about covid and seasonal campers only. Docks are seasonal campers only. You can tie your boat to a tree and beach it. Launch is very close with a steep ramp. 38 for site with electric and only found bathroom with no shower.
