Lone Star RV Park About

Are you an RV enthusiast in Tennessee looking for a friendly and accommodating place to set up camp, perhaps for an extended stay near one of our state’s most beautiful lakes? Lone Star RV Park in Tazewell offers a unique option for those seeking a welcoming environment with a focus on community. While every RV park has its quirks, Lone Star stands out for its exceptional staff and the sense of safety it provides. Many visitors have highlighted the very friendly and helpful nature of the owners, with specific mention of Kevin expertly assisting with parking rigs, making arrival a breeze. For those who appreciate a genuine, hospitable welcome and a secure place to stay, Lone Star RV Park is certainly worth considering for your next Tennessee adventure.

Lone Star RV Park is located at 134 Lone Mountain Boat Dock Ln, Tazewell, TN 37879, USA. This address places it squarely in Claiborne County, a picturesque region of East Tennessee known for its stunning natural beauty and, crucially, its proximity to Norris Lake. The "Lone Mountain Boat Dock Ln" in the address strongly suggests that the park is situated very close to, if not directly on, Norris Lake, offering potential boat access and water activities.

However, it is important for potential visitors to be aware of the accessibility nuances mentioned in reviews. One visitor noted traveling "miles on a very narrow road to get to it (was harrowing with our 40' 5er!)." This indicates that while the destination is rewarding, the journey, particularly for larger rigs, requires careful navigation. The campground's roads themselves are paved but described as "very narrow, with a huge drop off on the sides in places." This information is critical for RVers, especially those with longer or wider vehicles, to consider when planning their route and arrival. Despite these challenges, the park’s location offers a serene setting away from heavy traffic, allowing for a peaceful retreat once you've settled in. Its proximity to Norris Lake, despite the approach road, is a significant draw for those looking to enjoy boating, fishing, and other lakeside activities that are central to the East Tennessee outdoor experience.

As an RV park, Lone Star RV Park provides essential services designed to accommodate both short-term and, predominantly, long-term RV stays. While a comprehensive list of every single amenity isn't publicly detailed, based on typical RV park offerings and customer reviews, you can expect the following services:

  • RV Sites with Hookups: The core service of an RV park includes dedicated sites for recreational vehicles. While specific details on amperage (e.g., 30 amp, 50 amp) or water/sewer connections aren't provided, these are standard for RV parks.
  • Long-Term Stays: Reviews indicate that "99% of the sites have permanent residents," suggesting that the park primarily caters to long-term or seasonal campers, offering a more stable community feel.
  • Friendly and Helpful Staff: A consistent highlight from reviews is the staff's very friendly and helpful nature. This likely extends to providing assistance with site selection, check-in, and general support during your stay.
  • Assistance with Parking: Notably, a reviewer mentioned Kevin (an owner or staff member) expertly parking their rig, which is an invaluable service, especially given the potentially challenging access roads and narrow internal roads.
  • Safe Environment: A key benefit mentioned by a guest is feeling "safe" during their stay, which implies good security measures or a secure community atmosphere.
  • Paved Internal Roads: The campground roads are paved, which is a significant advantage for RVs, though their narrowness should be noted.
  • Access to Norris Lake (Implied): Given the address "Lone Mountain Boat Dock Ln," it's highly probable that the park offers convenient access to Norris Lake for boating and fishing, or at least is in very close proximity to a public boat dock.

It is always recommended to contact Lone Star RV Park directly to confirm the specific services and amenities available for your particular needs before booking, especially if you have a large rig or specific requirements.

Lone Star RV Park, while having its unique characteristics, offers several features and highlights that make it a distinct option for RVers in Tennessee. These points, gleaned from customer feedback, paint a picture of what to expect:

  • Exceptional Staff and Ownership: This is arguably the top highlight. The "very friendly & helpful staff (owners?)" including Kevin's "expertly parked our rig for us" service, stands out. This personal touch and willingness to assist is a huge plus, particularly for less experienced RVers or those with large vehicles navigating challenging terrain.
  • Sense of Safety: A reviewer explicitly stated, "I felt safe," which is a paramount concern for any traveler. This suggests a secure and peaceful environment, likely fostered by the predominant long-term residents.
  • Long-Term Community: The fact that "99% of the sites have permanent residents" creates a unique atmosphere. This can be a significant highlight for those looking for a stable, community-oriented RV living experience rather than just a transient stop. It implies a sense of neighborhood and shared experience among campers.
  • Access to Norris Lake: While the exact nature of access (e.g., direct park access, proximity to a public ramp) is not detailed, the address clearly links it to Lone Mountain Boat Dock and Norris Lake, offering prime opportunities for water recreation.
  • Peaceful Setting (Once Arrived): Despite the road challenges, the overall experience of feeling "safe" and potentially being away from heavy tourist traffic suggests a quiet atmosphere once settled in.
  • Paved Internal Roads: While narrow, the fact that roads within the park are paved is a benefit for RVs, reducing dust and providing a smoother surface.

It is important to note that some reviews also mention the "trashy looking" nature of many sites (not the campers themselves) and debris, particularly at the back of the park. While the staff's friendliness is highly praised, potential visitors should manage expectations regarding the overall tidiness of some areas within the park.

As a more resident-focused RV park, Lone Star RV Park might not run traditional, publicly advertised promotions in the same way a transient campground would. However, it's always worth inquiring directly about any potential offers, especially if you are considering a long-term stay. Typical "promotions" in such settings might include:

  • Monthly or Seasonal Rates: Given the high percentage of permanent residents, Lone Star RV Park likely offers discounted rates for longer commitments, which would be significantly more cost-effective than nightly stays.
  • Extended Stay Incentives: There might be benefits for those committing to several months or a full year, such as preferred site selection or minor utility inclusions.
  • Referral Programs: While not publicly noted, some parks encourage existing residents to refer new ones with a small incentive.
  • Off-Peak Specials: If they do have any transient sites, there might be lower rates during less popular seasons (e.g., late fall, winter).

To get the most accurate and up-to-date information on availability, pricing for long-term or short-term stays, and any potential offers, contacting Lone Star RV Park directly is the best approach. Don't hesitate to discuss your specific needs and duration of stay.

Lone Star RV Park is particularly suitable for locals in Tennessee, especially those with larger RVs or those seeking a stable, community-oriented long-term base near Norris Lake. For Tennesseans who own RVs and are looking for a reliable, safe, and friendly place to park their rig for extended periods, the park's high percentage of permanent residents fosters a welcoming, neighborhood-like atmosphere. This can be a huge benefit for those who desire more than just a transient stop; they're looking for a semi-permanent home away from home. The exceptional friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, including direct assistance with parking, makes the potentially challenging access roads much less daunting for large rigs – a significant consideration for experienced RVers navigating our state's more scenic, less-trafficked routes. Despite some notes on the general tidiness of certain older sites, the core value proposition of a safe environment and genuinely supportive management makes it attractive. For those who prioritize a secure, stable, and hospitable environment over pristine aesthetics, and who wish to be near the recreational opportunities of Norris Lake, Lone Star RV Park offers a unique and suitable option right here in East Tennessee.

Very friendly & helpful staff (owners?). Kevin even expertly parked our rig for us. I felt safe, and would stay there again. Had to travel miles on a very narrow road to get to it (was harrowing with our 40' 5er!). 99% of the sites have permanent residents, with a healthy mixture of old & new campers. However, most of the sites (not the campers) are "trashy" looking - LOTS of debris, especially at the back of the park. The CG's roads are paved, but very narrow, with a huge drop off on the sides in places.

They don't fix anything and when you contact them they still don't fix whatever it is that is messed up like your meter or the septic system. I have lived here for a year and they still haven't fixed the septic system so a lot of the time when you step outside of your camper it smells like rotting sewage especially in the summer. If I could leave a -5 star review I would. I don't recommend this place if I were you I would go elsewhere

This place is awful. If you like the smell of raw sewage and living around crack heads and loud obnoxious people, then this is the place for you! Do yourself a favor and find another camp ground, because this is not the one to go to. I've been living here for a year and they don't fix or change anything. You will likely have issues with the meter and they won't fix it either.
