Promotions or Special Offers
As a municipal campground, McKinley Park Campgrounds typically operates under a standard fee structure set by the City of Creston rather than offering frequent, publicly advertised commercial promotions. Therefore, specific "buy one night, get one free" or percentage-based discounts are unlikely to be a regular feature. However, understanding how city parks often manage their services can help Iowans identify potential value propositions:
- Affordable Rates: City park campgrounds are often priced more affordably than private RV parks, making them a budget-friendly option for local campers. The primary "promotion" here is the inherent value of a convenient, well-located camping spot at a lower cost.
- First-Come, First-Served: While not explicitly stated for McKinley Park Campgrounds, many city parks operate on a first-come, first-served basis for some or all sites, which can be a "promotion" for spontaneous campers who prefer not to make advance reservations. However, this also means no guaranteed spot, especially during peak times.
- Seasonal Rates: It's possible that rates may vary between peak season (summer, holidays) and off-peak times, offering a slightly lower cost during quieter periods. Campers should inquire about any such seasonal adjustments.
- Local Resident Benefits: While not common for camping, some city facilities offer slight discounts or priority to city residents for certain services or reservations. It's always worth asking if any such policy applies to the campground.
For the most accurate and up-to-date information on rates, availability, and any specific policies, it is highly recommended that interested Iowans contact McKinley Park Campgrounds directly via the provided phone number. Inquiring about rates for different types of sites (RV vs. tent), daily vs. weekly rates, and any specific rules will be the best way to understand the full cost and value of a stay.

Customer Reviews
They allow travel trailers to leave trash, cans everywhere personal items play loud music be loud all through the night. If you stay there in a tent your quiet keep your site clean they harass you tell you they don't want you there lol even though your paying like everyone else. Their dogs bark all night but complain if your dog barks.
I was there Tuesday after Memorial Day. I would have been disappointed to come camp for a long weekend of camping and seeing the grass needed mowed for the holiday weekend. No weed trimming done either. Restrooms so so after a holiday weekend. No signs that the campground was busy. Disappointed to see how many local 5th wheel campers came by to use the dump stations. I thoughts are when you camp here you can dump for free. However if you took your camping business elsewhere. You should dump there. Must have been a line. I would charge $10 for that service. Plus install cameras to keep the huge 6th wheels honest. Called honor system for a reason. Just my thoughts Beautiful views of the lake.
Could have a better facility or empty sewage from the public restroom more. No swimming area and public pool was closed, so there was no way to keep cool.
Tornado warning. No map of campground posted. Called the police, they explained where the tornado shelter was. BUT THE SHELTER WAS LOCKED. We stayed in a bathroom till it passed
Decent camp grounds. No shower facilities which was very disappointin.
