Promotions or Special Offers
As a state park campground, Green Valley State Park Campground typically operates under the pricing and reservation system set by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) or its designated reservation partner, such as ReserveAmerica. While direct promotional "deals" in the commercial sense (like "buy one night, get one free") are less common for state parks compared to private campgrounds, there are inherent value propositions and sometimes special rates that benefit campers:
- Affordable Rates: State park camping generally offers competitive and affordable nightly rates compared to private RV resorts, making it a budget-friendly option for Iowans.
- Online Reservation System: While not a "promotion," the convenience of being able to book campsites and cabins up to 12 months in advance through ReserveAmerica or similar platforms (http://iowastateparks.reserveamerica.com or by calling toll-free 1-877-IAPARKS) is a valuable service that helps secure popular spots, especially during peak season.
- First-Come, First-Served Sites: For the spontaneous Iowan camper, the availability of a significant portion of sites (approximately a quarter, including both electric-only and full hookup spots) on a first-come, first-served basis is a flexible option, though it carries the risk of full occupancy during busy times.
- Off-Season Enjoyment: While not a discount, visiting during the shoulder seasons (spring and fall) often means fewer crowds and a more tranquil experience, offering a different kind of value. Always check the park’s specific operating hours and any seasonal closures for facilities.
For the most up-to-date information on rates, reservation policies, and any specific offerings, it is always best to visit the official Iowa DNR State Parks website or the dedicated reservation portal (e.g., ReserveAmerica for Green Valley State Park). While direct "discounts" are not frequently advertised, the overall value provided by a well-maintained state park with abundant amenities and natural attractions remains a strong draw for local Iowans.

Customer Reviews
Very nice campground. Well maintained, clean shower houses, friendly park ranger. The beach in June 2024 is the nicest and cleanest I have seen it in years, no goose droppings.
Great lake side tent camping spots. Nice shower houses. Miles of trails that can take you all the way into town and puts you at McKinley Park. 3 Cabins are available. Trails are wooded on the west side and paved on the East. Path into town is paved and takes you right by the YMCA and Greater Regional Health. Fishing, beach and plenty of Geocache.
Nice place to relax and enjoy fishing. Also great place to pitch a tent ⛺.
One of our favorite places to camp and fish. Tent camping right on the water and the fishing was great as usual. Bathrooms are modern and clean.
I like this place. It gets a bit frustrating though when they have “Pull Up Sites” that aren’t reservable. When you arrive theirs tags that the site is paid for and theirs NO camper or anything on the site! So you end up in a less desirable spot.
