Customer Reviews
Pretty expensive for no amenities. $120 for 2 nights. We paid in-season price only to get there and find that the water was turned off. No fresh water and no running water at the dump. 50A plug wasn't accessible because the box was mangled. We tried to talk to someone about the price and water on our way out, but he basically gave us the "not my problem" attitude. Lady when we checked in was nice though. The campground section was pretty unkept. Nothing mowed. Facilities were ok. Clean and warm. And the walking/hiking trails were beautiful. We went here to test pilot a new camper, but ended up fighting the site and location more than anything. Had to re-level on day 2. The spot was so marshy that we sunk to one side. We initially tried to book an end site so it would be easier with our dog but it showed booked. Tried to call a bunch of times but no one answers. That spot we were looking at stayed vacant all weekend.
Got the large cabin foe 2 nights. Came with a bundle of wood, outdoor fireplace, with rotating grill top for cooking. The cabin was clean and spacious with climate control one room with 2 beds and a main room with 4 bunk beds. Indoor bathrooms and sinks and plenty of outlets. Nearby play area for kids and pond.
We loved camping here! We also have enjoyed hiking day trips here. Bikes, boating and fishing
Camp Bullfrog is a great location 30-40 minutes from downtown Chicago. We stayed in mid October for 5 days. There are lots of trails, fishing, kayaking (although the lake is very small) in a beautiful setting. During the week it was very quiet. The weekend was 98% full - what a difference. The first bunch of firewood was free - amazing. We stayed in spot #5 with a 30 foot travel trailer - which was absolutely perfect. Art and John were very helpful. The camp does close the gates so you want to be back before this happens. One note would be to bring yellow jacket traps - we did and caught a ton! Highly recommend this campground.
A great break from city life, only about a hour from home! The trails around the campground are gorgeous, great for biking or walking. Ravines, meadows, lake views, hills. The kids liked the lake for fishing and kayaking. Sites are small and close together, and there’s no shade, so we were glad to have an awning. Clean bathrooms, well maintained, and friendly staff. We enjoyed our stay!
