Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For Floridians, Mexico Beach RV Resort presents a suitable option, particularly for those who understand its current state of transition and are looking for a conveniently located, full-hookup RV park with a commitment to improvement. Its primary appeal lies in its amazing location, being just a short walk or drive from the "sugar-white beaches of Mexico Beach and Saint Joe Beach." This immediate access to some of Florida's most beautiful and less crowded coastal areas is a significant draw for locals seeking a beach getaway.
The fact that the resort is under new ownership and actively undergoing renovations signals a positive trajectory. While past reviews highlight issues like rough gravel roads and older facilities, the current management's stated goal to "turn this into a 5-star destination" means that guests choosing to stay now are part of its journey of improvement. This can be appealing to those who appreciate supporting local businesses through their growth phases and potentially benefiting from enhanced amenities in the future, such as the mentioned dog park and kayak/paddleboard rentals.
The resort offers full hookup RV sites, which is a fundamental requirement for many RVers, ensuring comfort and convenience. For Floridians working at or visiting Tyndall Air Force Base, the resort's close proximity makes it an exceptionally practical and convenient temporary housing solution. Furthermore, the availability of cabin rentals extends its suitability beyond just RV owners, offering a flexible option for friends or family who don't have an RV but want to join the coastal experience.
While some amenities, like the bathhouses, are noted to be older and in need of renovation, they are functional, and the presence of laundry facilities is a practical benefit for longer stays. The overall atmosphere, as indicated by a reviewer who "made friends with the other former Airborne Army brothers," suggests a potential for community and camaraderie. For Floridians who prioritize location, essential amenities, affordability, and are willing to embrace a park that is on an upward trajectory, Mexico Beach RV Resort offers a solid camping option with the promise of continuous enhancement.

We stayed here for a month after I accepted a job on Tyndall AFB. So, we needed someplace temporary before we found a more permanent location for our camper. I believe they're under new ownership and they are slowly renovating and cleaning things up. So, I'll go with the pros and cons. PROS: Location is amazing! Especially if you're working on Tyndall, it's like a 15-minute drive. There are places for a drink or food nearby and the beach is just up the road. The CONS: The gravel road will beat the hell out of your vehicle and your camper! I hated having to swerve all the way from the main road to my camper to avoid all the potholes. There seems to be some long-term tenants on the property, and they just have crap everywhere and it honestly makes the park look a little trashy. They do have washers and dryers on site, but a few don't work. The public bathroom at the main building really needs some love. I wouldn't say its dirty but its old and needs some paint and new toilets installed. the main building you check into needs some Maintenace so again it's not a good look from the outside looking in if I wanted to stay here. It really wouldn't be too much to clean the place up and it would make a world of difference. Overall, we liked our stay here and made friends with the other former Airborne Army brothers they just happened to be camping near us. So, if the price is right and you don't need amenities this is a solid place to camp.
Mar 20, 2025 · Chris FoxThis place is a POS. DO NOT believe the photos. The only way I can explain this place is a permanent living place. Dog poop everywhere. No water front place. Roads are all dirt and no communication with the office. 0 ⭐️ Worse place ever. We wouldn’t recommend it to anyone and wont ever go back. We were to stay there for 3 nights 2 days and left right when we woke up. I called and told them why we left and they never came to talk to us and they never even called me back. I’ve They is nothing in the town to do. You would have to drive an hour to Panama City to do anything.
Dec 28, 2024 · Naomi LloydThe pictures on the website do NOT give you a true understanding of the “resort” at all!!! I understand the entirety of Mexico Beach has struggled to rebuild from the hurricane, but be honest with your representation on your website. It looks like a junkyard or building site in all areas of the park. The pictures show nice neat gravel sites…I couldn’t really see gravel. The grass was tall, you couldn’t walk around our site without stepping on animal poop. You couldn’t really tell where to stop your camper within what you thought was your site. There was a stump at least 8 inches tall right where you normally lay out your rug. Our door lined up almost exactly across from the neighbor site’s sewer hook up. Normally the sewer site is near the rear of the site. The pool is a smaller residential size…a man on a larger float basically took up the majority of the pool. My husband was afraid to leave me, my grown daughter and 2 grandchildren. We luckily found a spot at the wonderful Coastline Resort in Eastpoint so we got out of there after 1 night. There was no way we were comfortable letting my grandchildren run around and play. I know the website and the person you talk to tells you there is NO refund, but when your website pictures don’t represent the actual place…isn’t that fraud. We lost a chunk of our vacation fund since we had to pay for another place that was decent for the next 8 nights. Region’s should be given as long as there is misrepresentation!!!
Jul 30, 2024 · Georgette JonesWe stayed for 3 nights, for July 4th weekend. Our RV location was great, people were friendly and helpful. The pool was clean and the kids enjoyed it. There was a place to park the trailer we hauled our motorcycles down in. All the hook ups worked without issues. The only downfall that could be an issue, but wasn’t for us, it is a mile walk to the beach. I enjoy walking and was able to log many miles. If you bring a car or golf cart, you won’t have any issue. There is a market a couple minutes walk from MBRVR. If you need ice, food, etc., they got you covered. We had a great weekend and will definitely be back!
