Introduction / Overview
For generations of Pennsylvania residents, the Pocono Mountains have been the quintessential escape, and Otter Lake Camp-Resort stands out as a premier destination within this stunning region. Situated on 300 wooded acres surrounding its own glistening 60-acre private lake, this East Stroudsburg location has been recognized as a top-rated, full-service resort campground, blending the traditional joy of camping with a comprehensive array of modern, family-friendly amenities.
Otter Lake Camp-Resort operates on a model designed for extended family fun, offering everything from full hookup RV sites to cabin rentals, catering to both seasoned campers and those looking for a comfortable retreat. The resort is particularly known for its extensive recreational facilities, which include multiple swimming areas and a daily activity program, ensuring there is always something engaging for all ages. It is a destination where the natural beauty of the Poconos meets the convenience and entertainment of a well-managed family resort.
While the resort is highly praised by many for its cleanliness, quiet evening atmosphere, and high level of site maintenance—with reviewers noting the "spotless" bathrooms and "clean" pools—it’s important for prospective guests to align their expectations with the resort's operational style. As a highly managed facility, the resort adheres strictly to its rules, a practice some long-time visitors have found to be less flexible than in the past, particularly regarding specific site accommodations and staff interactions. However, for a Pennsylvanian seeking a secure, amenity-rich, and organized camping experience in the Poconos, Otter Lake Camp-Resort remains a standout choice that many find "worth every penny" despite the slightly higher cost compared to more primitive venues.

Location and Accessibility
Otter Lake Camp-Resort is ideally located for local Pennsylvania travelers, nestled in the heart of the Pocono Mountains wilderness while maintaining excellent accessibility from major metropolitan areas like Philadelphia, the Lehigh Valley, and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The tranquil setting is immediately adjacent to the vast Delaware State Forest and is only a short distance from the stunning Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, placing world-class hiking and natural attractions right on its doorstep.
The resort's specific address is 1639 Marshalls Creek Rd, East Stroudsburg, PA 18302, USA. Accessibility by vehicle is generally excellent. For those approaching from Interstate 80, the resort is a manageable drive from Exit 309, following routes that wind into the scenic Marshalls Creek area. However, potential visitors bringing large RVs or trailers should note that the final approaches on local roads are described by some campers as winding, hilly, and narrow. The roads within the resort itself are paved, contributing to ease of movement once inside the property.
The geographic position provides the perfect balance: a peaceful 300-acre wooded escape that is simultaneously close to area attractions like Bushkill Falls, local restaurants, and the Shawnee Mountain resort area. This proximity allows guests to easily venture out for daytime excursions before returning to the full-service convenience of the camp-resort.

Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
Otter Lake Camp-Resort is exceptionally well-suited for Pennsylvania locals, especially families, seeking a reliable, full-featured vacation destination close to home. Unlike basic state park campgrounds, Otter Lake offers a resort-level experience—a true 'staycation'—without the need for long-distance travel, allowing for weekend getaways or full-week retreats with minimal planning stress.
For local users, the value lies in the all-inclusive nature of the fun. The combination of a private lake, multiple pools (indoor and outdoor), full hookup services, and a comprehensive activity program means that once you are on-site, there is little need to leave. This is particularly appealing to families with children and teens who thrive on organized fun and varied activities. While the strict adherence to campground rules and the operational environment may not suit every camper’s style, especially those accustomed to more relaxed, rustic settings, the consistent cleanliness and high level of site maintenance provide a dependable and high-quality environment. It’s a guaranteed fun zone for the family that wants modern comfort and endless entertainment in the beautiful backyard of the Pocono Mountains.

I spent a week there with my teenager and my 7 year old and we had a great time. It was a holiday weekend so the campground was crowded but everyone respected the rules and at night it was quiet and peaceful. The facilities are well maintained, the bathrooms were spotless, the pool was clean and the showers were also very clean. We really enjoyed our stay there and can't wait to go back again. It's not as cheap as some other campgrounds but it's well managed and the lake is beautiful. It's worth every penny to stay here.
Sep 15, 2025 · GREG THORUMNot at all the Otter Lake experience we grew up with or grew to love. While understanding running a functioning business is stressful, if you work in hospitality priorities shift. We were all so excited to return to Otter Lake, however our last trip was nothing short of disappointing. While family visited, our disabled aunt was treated horribly. Upon explaining several times that she could not walk more than 20 feet without excruciating pain , she was still told she needed to be parked up the hill & on the other side of the campground. There was no accommodations, no empathy, no offer to shuttle her to our family’s campsite with the golf cart they spend most of their time riding around & monitoring people instead of engaging / enhancing experiences. The animosity of the environment was intense enough we felt the need to spend time with family elsewhere for most of our stay. While amenities where fine, public areas clean, the space beautiful - the atmosphere was not welcoming. Aside from the experience itself, the current owners were more than content talking poorly of the previous owners to our family. We have been long time friends of the previous owners, so naturally this was upsetting. However the negativity they felt free enough to spread to other campers is not only in bad taste but simply unprofessional. There are plenty of gorgeous & hospitable campgrounds / lodgings in the area. Island Lake, the Buckhorn, Pictured Rocks Family Rentals, etc. Otter Lake unfortunately is no longer one of those. The current owners clearly only care about earning an extra buck, not about enhancing the experience of paying customers. While once before I’d recommend this campground to friends / family visiting before anywhere else, this place has become one I’d emphasize to not waste your money on.
Sep 02, 2025 · Kendall KeplerI’ e been camping here for nearly 47 years. Once we started at Otter Lake, we never left. Fantastic campground for all. So clean and well kept. You can tell the staff has everyone’s best interest at heart. The staff is so accommodating. All you need to do is ask. Kudos to all employees who absolutely love this place as much as we all do! ❤️❤️👍👍

There is so much to do.. boating, fishing, swimming, daily scheduled/staffed sports activities suitable for all ages which are lots of fun and a great way to bond with your kiddos,.. live music, bingo, crafts, tie die, ceramics, food trucks, ice cream window, hot dog stand, fire truck rides, and increadible sunsets,.. staff members are very friendly, facilities and grounds are kept very clean and well manicured. I cant say enough. This will not be your average family vacation,.. its a family experience!.
Aug 20, 2025 · Liana's Homesthe campsites were large! We had plenty of space. The bathrooms were kept extremely clean and showers were pretty decent too. People were very friendly and patient with our younger kids. Tons of daily activities that helped keep our kids entertained with zero screen time!! 10/10 we will be back!!
