For residents of Pennsylvania seeking a genuine escape into the state's storied natural heritage, **Penn's Creek Campground** in Millmont, PA, offers an unparalleled experience. Nestled along the banks of the legendary Penns Creek—renowned across the Northeast for its premier wild trout fishing—this campground is more than just a place to park an RV or pitch a tent; it is a dedicated retreat for those looking to reconnect with nature and enjoy a digital detox. One of the most prominent features, as highlighted by a local camper, is the complete lack of cell service, making it truly "the place" if you want to get away from constant connectivity.
The core appeal of Penn's Creek Campground revolves around the water. The creek itself is arguably Pennsylvania’s longest limestone stream, providing an exceptional habitat for a vibrant aquatic ecosystem that supports famous hatches, including the highly anticipated Green Drake. Campers frequently report having a "Great time flyfishing from site," underscoring the direct, convenient access to the water. This is not just car camping; it's a dedicated environment for anglers, kayakers, and those who simply want to relax by the calming sound of running water.
The atmosphere here is generally clean and friendly. Guests have described the facility as a "clean camp ground" where "Other campers friendly," creating a communal, respectful environment. While the location provides an intense natural experience, it balances this with essential, modern amenities for a comfortable stay. Visitors can choose from highly-serviced sites with full hookups to simpler tent pitches, all designed to facilitate enjoyment of the picturesque, forested terrain that defines this region of the Pennsylvania Wilds.
### Location and Accessibility
Penn's Creek Campground is uniquely situated at **7300 Creek Rd, Millmont, PA 17845, USA**. This specific address places the property deep within a scenic, tranquil valley in Union County, directly alongside the famous Penns Creek. The location is purposefully remote, enhancing the feeling of a genuine wilderness escape, yet it remains accessible via a state road network.
The campground’s valley location is a primary factor in both its appeal and its character. It is centrally positioned to access the vast public lands of **Bald Eagle State Forest** and several popular state parks, including Poe Paddy State Park and Raymond B. Winter State Park. These nearby attractions offer miles of hiking, biking, and additional fishing opportunities, confirming the campground's role as a key base for exploring Central Pennsylvania's wilderness.
While the lack of cell service is a celebrated feature for those seeking total isolation, it is an important practical consideration for all visitors—a true digital detox is enforced here. Guests should plan ahead and take note that communication will be limited to landlines or the provided mobile number in case of emergency. As for river access, the sites are designed to maximize interaction with the creek, though visitors planning riverfront camping should heed the experience of others: "the campsites along the creek were prone to flooding" during periods of high water, indicating the need for situational awareness, especially given the high water levels noted in a review during a rainy year. The drive-in access is straightforward, but the destination offers a true sense of having left the noise and traffic of the city far behind.

We camped along the river had electric water and sewer at site. Booked online. Other campers friendly. Didn't notice who worked here, but clean camp ground. Great time flyfishing from site. Lots of rain this year so great water level on Penn's Creek.
Jun 29, 2025 · Beth HaileyI like this campground, this only issue I had was the campsites along the creek were prone to flooding. I was in campsite 44 and we had no protection from the high waters. No cell service so if you want to get away it's the place.
Jun 05, 2025 · Missy G (MissRailfan)Campsite was right on water. Hook ups were all in good working condition. My only concern is there is no cell service. Not a big deal if f you are prepared but we were not. It should probably be mentioned on website. Even in nearest town cell service s spotty with Verizon. We could not access weather reports or maps. Unfortunately we have grown accustomed to having information at our fingertips. Bring a map, a cell booster or radio and unless you have Starlink make sure you download any important information or media you wish to play. We were there to fish so it wasn’t a big deal except weather reports and stream regulations.
Sep 29, 2024 · Sandra CourterPenns Creek campground is a hidden gem of a place nested right on Penns creek. Fishing, relaxing, camping, great people surround you. Events in the surrounding area as well as TD Cats make this an every year thing for us. Should be for you too.
Oct 30, 2024 · Keith HDecent economical campground but kind of in the middle of nowhere. The full hookup sites were large enough, and right on the river. I had a great time here, solo camping and fishing every day. But that's why I went. For a family or a couple who isn't big into trout fishing, you might get a little bored. There is not much to do that is very close by. The nearest decent sized grocery store or Walmart is about 45 minutes away. But if you're looking to get away from all that, this could be a nice peaceful retreat.
