We stayed in the campground for 3 nights. It rained a majority of the time. The sites are pretty small but served us well as we had little outdoor time due to the weather. We did get in a hike to the observation tower, the lake, and the law family cemetery when the rain took a break. Views around the park are gorgeous. We went to the lodge to swim one evening. There is a charge for campers to use the pool. $4 for kids and $6 for adults, 2 years old and under are free. The lodge has a cute gift shop. The majority of lodge employees were welcoming. The lifeguard at the pool hovers over you until you pay. The woman at the front desk warned us the pool was cold so told us to go check the temperature before deciding if we wanted to pay to stay and swim. The lifeguard didn't seem happy about that, despite the front desk calling down first to let her know they were sending us down. The nature center was a fun stop. The young man working there was knowledgeable and helpful.
May 29, 2025 · JENNIFER HULITWas under the impression that since we stayed at the resort campground that the amenities would also be available for campers. Not true. The man at the front desk of the lodge "scoffed" when we asked about the indoor pool for campers. He stated there will be an additional fee for all campers. We needed to drive to everything on the resort and everything was pretty much closed the first week of June. All employees of thr resort were rude simply because we stated in an RV instead of the lodge. Couple of nice waterfalls within a 1/2 hour drive. Will not return to the pipestem resort.
Jun 09, 2024 · Justin BurrellHave visited here for decades. Definitely gone downhill. Everything needs updated, from building and mechanicals to ground grading (standing water everywhere, not just from heavy rain). Child helmet rules not enforced, at all. Vehicle rules not enforced; too many at sites, parked off pavement causing ruts and mud holes, wrong direction and high speed. Staff "coloring" at camp store/check-in. Staff doing the once per day rounds through campground playing music very loud in park vehicle.
May 31, 2025 · D CBeautiful state park, especially in October. There are so many colors in the leaves. The campground restrooms are nice. We have both of our dogs with us this weekend.
Oct 21, 2023 · Larry WigalBEAUTIFUL state park Something for the whole family (putt-putt, horseback riding, golf, archery . . .) camping for full hookups close together water & electric & no hook ups seem roomier nice clean bathhouse (heated). Site #8 was not quite enough room for our 28ft. setup even though pull through--too close to road. We rode the tram (adult $8) down to Bluestone Scenic River. Absolutely gorgeous river and some leaves left. We hiked the river. We wanted to do the 3 1/2 hour zipping, but weather didn't cooperate.
