As one reviewer aptly puts it, "When you get off I-94 onto Mount Hope Road. You instantly feel like you are way up north. Nice tree lined road to the park." This is our favorite campground. It is well maintained, nice wooded lots. Quiet. Clean restrooms & showers. When you get off I-94 onto Mount Hope Road. You instantly feel like you are way up north. Nice tree lined road to the park. Great paths to the lake, which is also well maintained. Bird life is great. Love the Sand Hill Cranes. Friendly staff. Just the best and only 40 min away from home. We have been coming here since 2015 and are always excited to be here. Just the best. You want a sight with trees and shade. You have it. You want a site with a pad to park on, you have it. You want hiking trails, you have it. The best!!
Aug 11, 2024 · RevinIt was easy to reserve a camping spot in the Michigan DNR web page. The camp grounds are clean and well maintained and each site has a fire pit, picnic table and an electrical outlet. There is a nice paved trail to the beach. There are plenty of picnic tables and grills at the beach for eating and cooking. The natural trails are well mark. Will definitely come back. The bathrooms and showers are ok. There is also a play ground between the camp grounds and the beach.
Jul 16, 2022 · Cristina LugoThe sites are spacious, well placed, fire pits. Some are not level. Some have paved pads. Throughly enjoyed ourselves!
Apr 27, 2025 · Jill T.This campground is very crowded with lots of RVs and few trees except along the edges. Our sites 34 and 36 were against the tree line but facing the middle of the campground which resembled an RV parking lot. People were noisy and burning their trash. We did not stay the night. It just wasn't the secluded, wooded camp sites we have found in western and northern Michigan. There were also tons of mosquitoes!
Aug 05, 2024 · Andrea PatrieStayed for 3 nights. Other than the sites being very hilly, overall a good experience
