Introduction / Overview: Your Family Basecamp in Historic Bucks County
For Pennsylvanians seeking an escape that blends the tranquility of the woods with the excitement of family activities, Ringing Rocks Family Campground in Upper Black Eddy, PA, presents a compelling destination. Nestled within the scenic wooded hills of historic Bucks County, this campground positions itself as the ultimate setting for a family vacation, operating seasonally from April through October. The focus here is distinctly on family fun, community, and providing a wealth of on-site and local activities to keep all ages entertained.
The campground offers a diverse array of accommodations, including full-service RV sites, rustic and deluxe cabin rentals, and various tent camping options. Guests consistently praise the accommodating and helpful staff, the cleanliness of the facilities—including well-maintained, hot showers and bathrooms—and the extensive schedule of themed weekend activities. The atmosphere is noted for being family-oriented, with children frequently enjoying the pool and playground areas. The campground is also well-organized, making it a clear favorite for many eastern Pennsylvanians who return regularly.
It is important for new visitors to understand the unique community atmosphere. A significant majority—estimated at around 70%—of the encampments are seasonal or permanent. These sites are often personalized with custom wooden decks, sheds, gardens, and decorations, contributing to a stable, vacation park feeling. While this creates a strong sense of community, first-time campers should be prepared for the layout to feel more like an established vacation neighborhood than a purely transient campground. Additionally, tent campers should note that sites can be closely clustered with minimal natural barriers, and while activities are plentiful, a catch-and-release fishing pond is not available, which may be a consideration for families with young anglers.
Location and Accessibility
Ringing Rocks Family Campground is conveniently located at 75 Woodland Dr, Upper Black Eddy, PA 18972, USA. This Bucks County location places it in the southeastern corner of Pennsylvania, making it an excellent weekend getaway for residents of the Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley, and New Jersey areas.
The location’s key appeal is its close proximity to major natural and recreational features of the region. It is situated just minutes from the Delaware River and the New Jersey border. Crucially, the campground is the namesake for, and just a short drive from, Ringing Rocks County Park, a fascinating geological wonder where boulders produce a unique metallic sound when struck.
Local access points to the campground are something to be mindful of. While Google Maps and GPS will direct you, some past visitors have noted that the final approach roads, such as Marienstein Road or routes through Upper Black Eddy, can be narrow, steep, and twisty, which may require extra caution when navigating with large RVs or trailers. However, its central location allows for easy day trips to a number of popular Pennsylvania destinations, including Nockamixon State Park, Ralph Stover State Park, and historic sites along the Delaware Canal State Park. The drive time is manageable for many Pennsylvania families, being approximately an hour from Philadelphia and Allentown/Bethlehem.

Very accommodating and helpful staff. Bathrooms are clean and showers are nice and hot. Checkout for tent sites is 12 pm and they only charge $10 more to checkout at 4pm. The pool and playground looked great although i did not use either since it downpoured the entire weekend. My only grip is that the tent sites are slightly close to each other without much of a barrier. They have a lot of activities but unfortunately do not have a catch & release pond that my kids were hoping for.
Jun 17, 2025 · JennA well organized RV park, and clearly a favorite spot for eastern Pennsylvanians. We just stayed 2 nights, as we were visiting family in the vicinity, and it was our first time, but the majority of the residents were clearly regulars. I would say that 70% of the encampments are permanent, equipped with custom wooden decks with stairs, gardens, bear gardens, animal enclosures, fences, sheds and decorations, while 30% are for more occasional visitors. (I would roughly estimate 100 RV sites in total.) It was a family atmosphere, a vacation park, the pool and playground filled with kids. Many people get around in golf carts. Good camp store. Easy access to Bethlehem.
Jul 24, 2025 · Alan TolertonStayed for the week. It was very quiet, most sites were seasonals. Nice pool and playground. Very clean and well kept, clean bathhouses. Close to all the places we wanted to visit. I only took away one star because my husband and I had literally no cell service whatsoever unless we went up to the store
Sep 02, 2025 · Jessica FisherRR is a family campground that accomodates all kinds of sites, from big assed RV homes, to smaller RVs to car camping to simple tent sites. Fortunately, as it was Friday Memorial day weekend, and one client wasn't coming in til Friday, and it was a 3 day minimum to take a site they moved or offered us a tent site that was open that night instead of the rocky RV site we had been assigned. That was fortunate, as I don't see how we were going to tent on those rocks. I did not use the shower, but I heard the flow was abysmal, but I guess it got the job done. We were in multiple sites, and while we didn't have a fire at ours, we walked over to the others where they did start up theirs.
May 31, 2025 · J Eric HallanderGreat campground. Very clean and professional staff. Highly recommended for families with young children. I traveled solo and still had a great time. I loved my stay there. I was hoping to work remote but myT-Mobile hotspot was very spotty and the connection was poor despite checking the Tmobile website and seeing that T-Mobile had a strong signal at this address. Looking into satellite Internet to work remote
