Roberts Landing Campground About
For Michiganders who value stunning waterfront views and a genuine, laid-back camping atmosphere over polished amenities, Roberts Landing Campground in Cheboygan offers a truly unique experience. This campground, nestled on the shores of the Straits of Mackinac, is a well-kept secret for those who are relatively self-sufficient and appreciate raw natural beauty. It's not a luxury resort, but rather a place where the scenery takes center stage, and the camaraderie of fellow campers adds to the charm.
As one passionate visitor described, "This campground is a gem in my opinion. It’s not kept up very well but if you relatively self sufficient then you should have no issues. Most sites offer power and water. We were able to get as close to the water as you can in a camper. There was some goose poop to clean up but once we were set up it was amazing. The camp host was very personable and helpful and the other campers were great to visit with. The views of Bois Blanc, the Mackinaw Bridge, and the passing freighters were worth camping there alone." While acknowledging some rustic aspects, this review perfectly captures the essence of what makes Roberts Landing special: unparalleled views, essential hookups, and a friendly atmosphere. Another review noted, "We got our trailer all set up, but then noticed the electric pole wasn’t working, so we had to move to another spot. Also, the bathrooms are pretty old, and the toilet seat was a bit shaky," indicating the need for a flexible mindset but affirming the presence of essential services. For those who prioritize location and breathtaking vistas, Roberts Landing Campground is a compelling choice in Northern Michigan.

Its location also offers proximity to the charming city of Cheboygan, which provides opportunities for shopping, dining, and exploring local attractions like the Cheboygan River and the Cheboygan State Park. While the campground itself embraces a rustic feel, the ease of reaching it via a major highway, combined with its direct access to some of Michigan's most iconic waterways and views, makes Roberts Landing an incredibly appealing and straightforward destination for local campers.

As a more rustic, family-run, or independently operated campground, Roberts Landing Campground typically focuses on consistent, fair pricing rather than frequent, complex promotional offers. The inherent value of staying at Roberts Landing comes from its exceptional location and views at a reasonable rate, which often serves as its primary appeal to campers.
While specific, advertised discounts or loyalty programs might not be common, it's always recommended for Michigan locals to directly contact the campground by phone. Sometimes, off-season rates, deals for extended stays, or specific group rates might be available upon inquiry, especially during quieter periods or mid-week bookings.
The true "promotion" for Roberts Landing is the unique experience it offers: unparalleled views of the Mackinac Bridge, majestic freighters, and Bois Blanc Island, often allowing campers to secure a waterfront spot with essential hookups. For many, this unique scenic value at a straightforward price is more appealing than a percentage discount at a less desirable location. Calling ahead to discuss your specific needs and potential availability, especially if you're looking for a particular type of site or planning a longer visit, is the best approach to ensure you get the most out of your stay.

If you have a camper and are self sufficient this place is great! We saw the reviews about the bath house, but we didn’t need it. (I did use the restroom before we left and it wasn’t bad.) We had a spot maybe 30 yards from the lake. It was gorgeous. We sat outside by the fire pit in the evening and watched the sun go down. The owner is very friendly! The value is fantastic. Again, if you are looking for a place to park your camper or tent to sleep in, and don’t need a bunch of amenities (pool and other stuff) this place is great! It served us quite well and we would absolutely stay there again. The views are beautiful!
This is a nice waterfront campground. It is not a resort. Power was consistent throughout our stay. Staff (Tom) was exceptional and great help getting to the sites and checked in throughout the weekend. We brought 14 rigs for a weekend rally and had a wonderful time. Sites along the water are not level so bring boards and also power extension chords. Dump station is an easy pull in/back out. I hope they make improvements to the site leveling but don’t do too much to make it so popular that we can’t get in again!!
Great location close to Mackinaw City but far enough away from the crowds. Absolutely stunning views of the lake. You can see the bridge from the campground. Some of the spots are basically right on the beach. We showed up late on a Saturday night and Walt welcomed us and let us pick out a site. We ended up staying in some tents he had already set up with queen sized air mattresses and clean bedding inside. It was super convenient since we were only staying for one night on our way up north. The campground is on the small side and was pretty full, but everyone was respectful and reasonably quiet. There was plenty of firewood available to purchase. The bathrooms were clean. 100% will come back again and would recommend.
