Introduction / Overview: Your Secluded Horse and Trail Hub in the Finger Lakes Region
For New York residents looking to fully immerse themselves in the state’s expansive trail system, particularly with their equine partners, Ron's Place offers a uniquely tailored and highly-regarded camping experience. Located in Beaver Dams, New York, this establishment is less a traditional public campground and more of a private, dedicated retreat, specializing in horse camping and offering a secluded basecamp for accessing the renowned trails of the Finger Lakes region.
Ron's Place is situated near the vast wilderness of Sugar Hill State Forest and the Six Nations Trail System, making it an ideal staging point for hiking, car camping, and, notably, horseback riding adventures. The overwhelming sentiment from local users is one of genuine hospitality and attention to detail provided by the host, Ron, which elevates the entire stay from a simple overnight stop to a welcoming outdoor experience. This focus on guest satisfaction and the specific accommodation for horses set Ron’s Place apart as a specialized destination for New Yorkers who cherish privacy, convenience, and direct access to major outdoor recreational areas.
The facility is praised for its clean, functional amenities and the ability to accommodate various camping setups, from traditional tents and car camping to multiple rigs for groups traveling together. For New Yorkers passionate about trail riding, this spot provides a rare and valuable service: immediate, private access to some of the best equestrian trails in the state without the congestion of large, public facilities.

Nov 25, 2024 · Mark PetruniakRon was very welcoming. His accommodations were perfect for camping. There was a clean out house, plenty of parking, plenty of space for tents, picnic tables, there was even a water well pump for extra water (not suitable for drinking, but everything else). We’ll be back. Thanks Ron!
