Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park About

Are you an Oklahoman searching for an RV park in the Duncan area, perhaps for a short stopover or a longer-term stay? Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park, located at 10 Shady Oaks Ln, Duncan, OK 73533, has historically been presented as a functional option for RVers. However, recent customer feedback indicates some significant issues with access and management, which potential visitors should be aware of before planning their trip.

Historically, Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park has been listed as a facility offering a range of amenities suitable for RV camping, including full hookups and communal facilities. It has been described as a family-friendly environment with options for daily, weekly, and monthly rates. However, recent reviews paint a concerning picture, with reports of "gate is shut with private property-no trespassing signs all over" and highly negative experiences regarding the demeanor of the management. This conflicting information suggests that the park's operational status and guest experience may have significantly changed from its advertised offerings.

For Oklahomans, seeking a reliable and welcoming place to park their RV is crucial. While the official descriptions point to various conveniences like clubhouses and laundry facilities, the most current customer experiences raise serious questions about accessibility and overall hospitality. It is important for anyone considering Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park to exercise caution and attempt to verify its current operational status and accessibility before making plans.

Given the nature of the reviews, it's difficult to provide a purely promotional yet factual overview without acknowledging the significant concerns raised by previous visitors. This article will present the publicly available information about the park's stated features and services, while also incorporating the direct feedback from recent customers to provide a balanced, albeit cautious, perspective for local users.

As you plan your RV adventures in Oklahoma, remember to prioritize clear communication and confirmed bookings, especially when relying on online information that may not reflect real-time conditions. While Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park lists a number of appealing features, the recent feedback suggests a need for thorough due diligence before visiting.

Location and Accessibility

Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park is located at 10 Shady Oaks Ln, Duncan, OK 73533, USA. Duncan is a city in Stephens County, Oklahoma, known for its rich history and role in the oil and gas industry. The park's address places it within the Duncan area, suggesting proximity to local amenities and the community at large.

Historically, its location would imply relatively easy access from major roads in and around Duncan. Duncan is served by US-81 and OK-7, which provide connections to other parts of Oklahoma. For Oklahomans traveling from Oklahoma City, Lawton, or Ardmore, these routes would lead to Duncan and, presumably, to the park via local roads. The "Lakeview" in its name suggests a location near Duncan Lake, which would typically be a draw for those interested in water activities such as fishing or boating.

However, recent customer reviews directly contradict assumptions of easy access. Reports of a "gate is shut with private property-no trespassing signs all over" on the highway raise significant concerns about the current accessibility of the park. While signs may still be present on the highway advertising the park, the physical access appears to be severely restricted or entirely closed off to casual visitors. This means that despite its listed address in Duncan and potential proximity to the lake, actual entry may be impossible without prior arrangements or if the park is, in fact, no longer openly operating in the manner of a public RV park.

For Oklahomans planning to visit, this presents a critical issue. Relying solely on the address or old highway signs could lead to a wasted trip. It is imperative to understand that its "accessibility" is currently questionable, and verifying open access is a necessary step before attempting to travel to this location. The convenience of being near Duncan and its lake, which would typically be a positive aspect of its location, is undermined by these access issues.

Therefore, while the address places it within a generally accessible area of Oklahoma, the current feedback strongly suggests that potential visitors should confirm its operational status before attempting to reach 10 Shady Oaks Ln.

Services Offered

Based on official information and general RV park expectations (though tempered by recent negative reviews), Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park has historically advertised or offered a range of services designed for RV campers. It is important to note that the current availability and quality of these services are called into question by recent customer feedback.

  • Full Hookups: The park is listed as offering "full hookups with 30 amp and 50 amp electric service." This typically includes connections for water and sewer as well, providing essential utilities for RVs.

  • Variety of Site Types: Sites are described as being on "gravel, grass, dirt and shaded sites." This suggests a mix of options that could cater to different preferences, with shaded sites being particularly desirable in Oklahoma's climate.

  • Shower House: A "shower house" is listed as a facility, providing communal restroom and shower facilities for guests who do not have their own or prefer to use park amenities.

  • Laundry Facilities: "A coin-operated washer and dryer are offered on-site," which is a convenient service for both short-term and long-term campers, allowing for fresh laundry during their stay.

  • Clubhouses for Rent: The park reportedly features "two clubhouses for rent, both with heat and air." The "large clubhouse holds 250-300 people and has a full kitchen," and the "small clubhouse holds 80 and features an efficiency kitchen." These facilities would typically be used for group gatherings, rallies, or events, indicating a capacity for larger groups.

  • Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Rates: The availability of "Daily, weekly and monthly rates" suggests flexibility for different lengths of stay, accommodating both transient visitors and those seeking a longer-term spot.

  • Family-Friendly Environment: The park is explicitly stated as being a "family-friendly environment," with a policy that "no alcoholic beverages are allowed inside park." This indicates a specific atmosphere the park aims to cultivate.

However, it is crucial to juxtapose these stated services with the recent customer reviews. One review mentioned "Rude people no Manger office and no rec buildings shower and bathroom area was unusable," and "Laundry was closed all the time." Another describes issues with water and management hostility. These accounts suggest that while services may be listed, their actual availability, functionality, or the ease of accessing them might be severely compromised, or even non-existent in practice. This makes it challenging to rely on the listed services without prior verification.

Features / Highlights

Based on the publicly available descriptive information for Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park, several features and highlights are advertised that would typically appeal to RVers. However, it's essential to consider these alongside recent negative customer feedback, which may indicate that these highlights are not consistently available or enjoyable.

  • Full Hookup Sites with Variety: The park offers "full hookups with 30 amp and 50 amp electric service" on "gravel, grass, dirt and shaded sites." This variety would typically allow campers to choose a spot that best suits their RV and preferences, with shaded sites being a significant advantage during Oklahoma's hot summers.

  • Communal Facilities: The presence of a "shower house" and "coin-operated washer and dryer" are typically strong features, providing essential conveniences for campers. A clean and functional shower house is particularly valued by those without full onboard facilities or who prefer communal options, and on-site laundry saves trips to town.

  • Event and Meeting Spaces: The availability of "two clubhouses for rent," one large (250-300 people with full kitchen) and one small (80 people with efficiency kitchen), is a notable highlight. These spaces would be ideal for RV rallies, family reunions, or other group gatherings, offering dedicated facilities for social events.

  • Family-Friendly Atmosphere: The explicit mention of a "family-friendly environment" with "no alcoholic beverages allowed inside park" suggests a focus on a wholesome, quiet atmosphere, which can be appealing to families with children or those seeking a more subdued camping experience.

  • Flexible Stay Options: Offering "Daily, weekly and monthly rates" provides flexibility for various travel plans, catering to both transient visitors and those needing a longer-term base in the Duncan area.

  • Potential Lake Proximity: While not explicitly detailed, the "Lakeview" in the name and location near Duncan suggests potential views or easy access to Duncan Lake, which could be a highlight for water recreation enthusiasts, though this needs independent verification.

It is critical to reiterate that recent customer reviews severely undermine these advertised highlights. Reports of a "gate is shut with private property-no trespassing signs all over," unusable bathrooms, closed laundry, and hostile management indicate that these features may not be accessible or functional for current visitors. Therefore, while these are the stated highlights, potential guests should verify their current availability and the overall operational status of the park before relying on them.

Promotions or Special Offers

Based on the publicly available information, Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park primarily offers flexibility in its pricing structure rather than specific, advertised "promotions" or "special offers." The key aspect mentioned is the availability of different rate tiers based on the length of stay.

  • Daily Rates: For short-term visitors or those passing through Duncan, the park offers a daily rate.

  • Weekly Rates: For stays longer than a few nights but less than a month, weekly rates are available, which typically provide a discount compared to paying the daily rate for each night.

  • Monthly Rates: For RVers seeking a longer-term base, potentially for work in the area or extended leisure, monthly rates are offered. These are generally the most cost-effective option for prolonged stays.

One detail mentioned on some official listings is that "Reservations are accepted for rallies only." This suggests that while individual daily/weekly/monthly rates might be available upon arrival (if the park is indeed open and accessible), pre-booking is primarily facilitated for larger group events. There is no public information regarding typical RV park discounts such as Good Sam, military, or senior citizen rates.

However, it is crucial to highlight the severe contradiction posed by recent customer reviews. The reports of the "gate is shut with private property-no trespassing signs all over" and an inability to access the park directly imply that any listed rates or booking opportunities may currently be irrelevant for the general public. Additionally, the extremely negative experiences with management, including being "charged the full rate" despite discussions about water issues, further complicate any potential promotional offers or even standard rate applications.

Therefore, while the park theoretically offers tiered pricing, the current practical reality suggests that inquiring about or expecting any promotions (or even basic access) would be moot until its operational status and accessibility are definitively confirmed. Potential visitors are strongly advised to attempt contact first and verify current access and availability, as relying on older information could lead to significant disappointment and wasted time.

Contact Information

To attempt to verify the current operational status, accessibility, and availability of Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park, you can try to reach them using the following contact information. Please note, given the recent negative customer reviews regarding access and management, direct contact is highly recommended before making any travel plans.

  • Address: 10 Shady Oaks Ln, Duncan, OK 73533, USA

  • Phone: (580) 255-7042

  • Mobile Phone: +1 580-255-7042

It is vital to try calling these numbers to confirm if the park is currently open, accepting guests, and if the gate access issues mentioned in reviews have been resolved. Inquire specifically about the "no trespassing" signs and whether individual RVers can enter the property. Due to the severe nature of the negative feedback, exercising extreme caution and seeking current information directly from the park (if contact can be established) or from very recent, reliable local sources is paramount before planning a visit.

Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals

Based on the conflicting information available for Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park in Duncan, Oklahoma, its suitability for locals, particularly in the current climate, is highly questionable and requires significant caution. Historically, and based on some official descriptions, the park would have been suitable for locals for several reasons, but recent direct feedback from customers presents a starkly different reality.

(Historical/Advertised Suitability – with caveats):

If the park were operating as advertised, its location at 10 Shady Oaks Ln in Duncan would offer local Oklahomans a convenient and accessible option for RV parking. Proximity to Duncan Lake (implied by "Lakeview" in the name) would provide opportunities for fishing, boating, or simply enjoying the outdoors without extensive travel. The stated provision of "full hookups" on various site types (gravel, grass, shaded) would cater to diverse preferences, making it a flexible choice for both short getaways and longer-term needs.

Furthermore, the availability of a "shower house" and "coin-operated washer and dryer" would address practical needs, allowing locals to utilize essential amenities without having to leave the park. The presence of "two clubhouses for rent" would also be a significant draw for local groups planning rallies, family reunions, or other events, providing dedicated spaces for community gatherings. The "family-friendly environment" and "no alcoholic beverages" policy would appeal to those seeking a quiet, wholesome atmosphere for their RV stays.

(Current Reality and Lack of Suitability for Locals):

However, the overwhelming and recent customer reviews severely undermine any historical suitability. The report of the "gate is shut with private property-no trespassing signs all over" directly implies that the park is currently inaccessible to the public. This makes it entirely unsuitable for locals who might attempt to visit based on old highway signs or outdated online listings, leading to wasted time and frustration. A location that is physically inaccessible cannot be considered suitable for any purpose.

Moreover, the deeply negative review detailing a "hateful" manager, unprovoked aggressive behavior, and unusable facilities (like a dirty shower/bathroom and closed laundry) points to a severe breakdown in customer service and park maintenance. For Oklahomans seeking a respectful and accommodating environment, such experiences are unacceptable and directly contradict the notion of a welcoming local business. The sentiment of having "any self respect you will not stay there" is a strong deterrent.

Therefore, in its current apparent state, Shady Oaks Lakeview RV Park cannot be genuinely recommended as suitable for locals. While its listed amenities and location might once have made it an appealing option, the significant access issues and highly negative management experiences reported by recent customers suggest that it is currently not a reliable or welcoming place to stay. Locals are strongly advised to consider alternative RV parks in the Duncan area and to thoroughly verify the current operational status and accessibility of any campground before visiting.

Do not stay here! The old man that runs this place is not only one of the most hateful people I have ever met, he jumps to conclusions, and will jump down your throat if your water has even the slightest drip... then jumped down my throat for leaving water dripping inside during freezing nights... I HAD NOT EVEN BEEN DOING THAT, MY WATER HAD BEEN FROZEN UP FOR A WEEK I WAS USING BOTTLED WATER! These people are just jerks and if u have any self respect you will not stay there.
