Duncan's Grove R.V. Park About
For RVers exploring the rich tapestry of Oklahoma, Duncan's Grove R.V. Park offers a unique and historically significant stop just outside the city of Duncan. This isn't your typical resort-style RV park; instead, it provides a quiet, unassuming experience deeply rooted in the very fabric of Oklahoma's past. It’s a place where the legendary Chisholm Trail once ran, and where Duncan’s original store, marking the city's foundation, was located. For those who appreciate history, tranquility, and a simpler approach to RV living, Duncan's Grove presents a compelling and authentic Oklahoma experience.
Duncan's Grove R.V. Park is for the traveler who values a quiet retreat and a direct connection to the state's pioneering spirit. While it may not boast elaborate amenities, its charm lies in its historical significance and its commitment to offering a peaceful environment. It serves as an excellent base for exploring the local history of Duncan, including the renowned Chisholm Trail Heritage Center, and provides a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of modern life. If you're an Oklahoman or visitor looking to escape the grind and immerse yourself in a slice of the past, Duncan's Grove offers a genuine "slow down life" experience.
The location of Duncan's Grove R.V. Park is intrinsically linked to its unique appeal. Situated at 1802 E Chestnut Ave, Duncan, OK 73533, USA, the park is conveniently positioned "just outside of Duncan" and is notable for having "pavement all the way" for easy access. While the signage might be minimal, the presence of RVs in the yard often signals your arrival to this hidden gem.
What truly sets this location apart is its profound historical significance. The park is literally "right along side Cow Creek and the actual Chisholm Trail went through the property." Imagine cattle herders centuries ago resting their animals on the very ground where you park your RV today. This direct connection to the iconic Chisholm Trail provides a unique historical dimension to your stay, offering a tangible link to Oklahoma’s frontier heritage. Despite its historic roots and tranquil setting, the park remains a "short drive away" from Duncan's restaurants, shopping, and convenience stores. This ensures that while you can "escape the grind and hustle," you're never too far from necessary supplies or a meal out. The accessibility to Duncan, Lawton, and Fort Sill also makes it a practical "base to use while checking out the history" of these significant Oklahoma locations.
Duncan's Grove R.V. Park focuses on providing fundamental services necessary for a comfortable RV stay, leaning into a more rustic and historically preserved experience rather than a resort-style offering. The park aims to provide a functional and peaceful environment.

This balance suggests a genuine, no-frills environment that resonates with the practical and community-oriented values often found in Oklahoma. For the budget-conscious RVer, it also represents a potentially "great place to stay as a permanent cheaply." While not for everyone, for those who seek a genuine connection to Oklahoma's history, a peaceful retreat, and good value, Duncan's Grove R.V. Park is a truly fitting choice.
Customer Reviews
The park is located just outside of Duncan. There is pavement all the way. Signage is almost non existent. Had we not noticed the RVs in the yard we would never have know we had arrived. There is a sign but it is laying on the ground. Check in was efficient and friendly. The rules are fairly basic. The interior roads are gravel/dirt and in reasonable condition. We chose this park mostly for it’s historic significance. Duncan’s original store was located on the property. It is where the city of Duncan was founded. It is right along side Cow Creek and the actual Chisholm Trail went through the property. Cattle herders probably rested the animals right here. Our site, G2, was a pull through that was plenty long enough for our Coach and Towed. Services (30 amp and water only) were to the left side. Distancing is good for a rural park. There is NO table or fire pit. Our site was sloped front to back but was even side to side. Leveling our coach was easily managed. The park owner explained that if he were to grade the land to level the sites, history would be destroyed as the actual Chisholm Trail ran through the property. Overall the park was bare of any attempted landscaping at all. If you have a dog that is sensitive to sand burrs be aware, this place is loaded with them. There are permanent folks living here. Some of their units are very cluttered and dumpy. Everyone was very friendly and some even offered to help us get set up. That being said, they must also let their dogs run free when there are no transients around as we cleaned up a lot of dog $hit around our site. While we were here, all dogs were tied up but we could tell they weren’t happy. There is NO park included wifi or cable TV. We did find a good number of OTA channels. Satellite will not be a problem.. We did not use the washrooms or showers but we checked and found them clean. There are no restaurants or stores within easy walking distance but just a short drive away you can find food, shopping and convenience stores. We found this park to be an okay base to use while checking out the history of Duncan and it’s Chisholm Trail history as well as Lawton and Fort Sill. . We paid $25.00 per night and we feel we received poor value. Sadly, we would probably choose a different park if we were in the area again. There has been no attempt to promote the history of the land and really, that is all it has going for it. This is a poor excuse for an RV Park but probably a great place to stay as a permanent cheaply. (December 28 2023 Just reviewed my rating. It was given two stars in error.)
The amenities aren’t 5 star but if you’re looking for a slow down time with beautiful views of the moon, stars, & the open cattle fields overlooking the old Chisholm Trail, this RV park is quiet. Minimal amenities with no park wide WiFi, but that is reflected in rates. This ain’t the big city & you might hear coyotes howl in the middle of the night or see open views of the full moon if you time your stay just right. There is a minimalist bath/shower house & laundry facility if needed but not other on site amenities. Come here if you want to escape the grind & hustle & bustle of the busy life. Welcome to the Grove, the slow down life.
I love this place. The price is cheap. Owners are always available. The view morning or night is amazing. It's so peaceful and quite. Nice large sites and shower house available. A must if in the area.
I stayed here while completing a cross country move. Almost 8 months in total, while I found, and bought a house. Don is awesome! Very friendly, respectful, reasonable. The place is kept very clean all the time! Mail service is available. Bathrooms and Laundry too. I cannot recommend this place enough! It's a great home away from home. It stays quiet most of the time. It's a little out of the way, but that's why it's so peaceful. I'm giving Don 5 Stars only because I can't give him 10. He's Aces! Long term, or overnight, this is the place to go in Duncan Oklahoma!!!
Too far out of town not any good Patty to park your RV not very well kept would recommend it
