Thousand Trails Sturbridge is ideally suited for Massachusetts residents for several compelling reasons. Firstly, its prime location near major routes (I-84 and I-90) makes it an incredibly accessible, close-to-home escape. For locals, minimizing travel time is a major benefit, allowing for more time to enjoy the vacation itself, even for just a quick weekend trip. The ability to drive a short distance and feel completely immersed in 200 acres of picturesque New England woodlands is an invaluable opportunity for stress relief and reconnection with nature.
Secondly, the resort offers a fantastic blend of amenities and local attractions. You don't have to choose between a rustic outdoor experience and modern convenience; here, you can have both. Furthermore, the extensive on-site activities, including the playground, lakeside recreation, and planned events, mean there is always something to keep families entertained without having to leave the premises.
Finally, its close proximity to historic and recreational landmarks, especially Old Sturbridge Village, allows locals to easily pair their outdoor adventure with a rich cultural experience. The option for seasonal or annual sites further cements its value as a "second place"—a dedicated, personalized retreat that is always ready for a quick visit. Thousand Trails Sturbridge truly provides a complete, convenient, and high-quality local New England camping experience for residents of Massachusetts.

Overall experience was good, staff were great. The cottage I booked though was just okay, hot water seemed very limited which is whatever I didn’t expect a 5 star hotel bathroom, however it did have a very big ant problem. The pool building was completely closed off too which was a big bummer because the “beach area” water did not look clean at all so we could not swim.
Jul 25, 2025 · Jacob BubblesSmaller campground. It was very well kept. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a playground here that is very nice and maintained. There are amenities close by that offer an array of opportunities to guests. We can't wait to be in the area so that we can stay here again. Definitely enjoyed our stay.
May 25, 2025 · John SochorOur interactions with the staff at the Sturbridge location were very positive for the short amount of time we spent there (1.5hrs). We recently became Thousand Trail members with the purchase of our camper. This is only the second Thousand Trails campground we have stayed at and unfortunately we will not be back. We drove just over an hour to get there and the sites are very small and on top of each other. We have a 30 ft trailer and didn't feel comfortable parking in any of the sites. First site we were given was in a gravel parking lot, the same width as our trailer, not including our slide out. The next sites we tried were on the edge of a cliff and impossible to get into. The road to those sites is a dead end and very challenging to turn around in. The 1.5 hours we were there were spent trying to get out from the dead end road. The staff came out to us and tried to find us another site. Christina was very accommodating and tried her best to help us but it wasn't worth it for us to stay. We will not be going back.
Jun 01, 2025 · Adrienne RichardsonI love all of the activities they hold. So many improvements have positively impacted the resort. I love camping here with my family and we always have the best time. The new dj and music bingo they held was fantastic and I hope to see more new activities like this.
May 26, 2025 · Kylie HoytWe are full time travelers and (almost) exclusively use Thousand Trails (we are members). The campground itself is lovely and the surrounding area is very nice. Up until now we have had a smooth stay. However, my husband went down around noon to use the showers and bathrooms today and waited 45/50 minutes before finally leaving. Chrystal (forgive me if her name is misspelled) blocked off both bathrooms and closed down the store during this time, which meant that none of the facilities were available. My husband is a very patient person- but when two of Chrystal’s friends walked up and asked if she could open the store for them because they were making chili…and she said yes…he was flabbergasted. She proceeded to walk over and happily open up the store just for them, all the while my husband was still waiting. All three of them were aware that he had been waiting with no regard. One of the friends said, after looking directly at my husband, “Chrystal I’ll lock up the store for you.” After almost an hour and unnecessary nonsense my husband had to come back up the hill, unshowered and without use of a restroom, because he was out of time and needed to leave.
