**Introduction / Overview: Resort-Style Camping in the Heart of Central Massachusetts**
For Massachusetts residents and visitors seeking a high-end, amenity-rich vacation experience that blends the appeal of the great outdoors with resort-style comforts, Pine Lake RV Resort & Cottages in Sturbridge, MA, is a premier destination. Located on a sizable 76-acre property that includes a beautiful eight-acre private pond, Pine Lake has positioned itself as more than just a place to park an RV. It functions as a full-service resort, offering a variety of accommodations including over 200 full hookup RV sites and numerous charming, handcrafted cottages.
The philosophy here leans toward an active, convenient, and social vacation. While it retains the rustic element of being situated near a lake with fishing and boating, the resort provides extensive modern amenities suchable a sparkling pool, a hot tub, and a dedicated fitness center, which sets it apart from more traditional, rustic campgrounds in New England. The park is characterized by well-kept grounds, modern facilities—including notably clean and spacious bathhouses—and a lively calendar of planned activities, making it an ideal choice for families, couples, and social groups looking for a comprehensive vacation package in Central Massachusetts.
The resort’s unique offering caters to those who appreciate the sense of community that often accompanies a well-managed park, with friendly and helpful staff who strive to enhance the guest experience, assisting with everything from firewood to recreational equipment like kayaks. While some visitors note the higher-density layout and occasional background noise due to its accessibility, others celebrate the efficiency, cleanliness, and sheer abundance of activities and amenities that create a vibrant, engaging atmosphere.
**Location and Accessibility: Sturbridge Charm and Highway Convenience**
Pine Lake RV Resort & Cottages is strategically located at 30 River Road, Sturbridge, MA 01566. This campground is amazing! The staff is so friendly and incredibly helpful. Zack was so much help with our firewood and kayaks. We met some wonderful new friends here as well! We have an RV so I’m not sure how the cabins are but our friends told us they were pretty clean and everything you could need. The bathrooms were so clean and spacious! There was a cute playground, and a nice pond! We will definitely be back.
May 27, 2025 · Kylie DelgadoWe recently stayed here and unfortunately it wasn’t the experience we had hoped for. The location is right by the highway, so there is a constant background of traffic noise. The park itself feels more like a trailer park than a campground, with paved roads, astro turf, and more cabins than actual campsites. The sites are extremely small and very close together, with campers facing each other, which doesn’t allow for much privacy. I can not express enough how very, very small the sites are. Street lights stay on all night, so it doesn’t have the natural, dark campground feel. There were also unpleasant odors from the sewer in much of the campground. The rules are quite strict, which made the atmosphere feel more rigid than relaxing. Activities we booked were changed the night before our stay, and the refund policy is not very flexible, which left us disappointed. On top of that, events and activities felt overpriced compared to what was offered. The wifi was nearly unusable. Also worth mentioning, if you're into walking the grounds be prepared for very steep hills. Overall, it came across as a bit of a bait-and-switch from the advertising. Erin was great and super kind!! If you’re looking for a traditional camping experience, this may not be the best fit.

The staff is friendly and efficient, the sites are spacious, the amenities are awesome (I wish I had the grandson, he would love it here!), huge open kitchen in the common area with Saturday night dinners, firepit, and comfy furniture. DIY activities like Paint n Sip, soap making, etc., water play hayride and a cornhole tournament. The first weekend was a wellness weekend with morning yoga, vendors and a smoothie bar! Pool area was clean/well kept, laundry/showers in each section. Laundry was spotless and the shower rooms are not only spotless but private! No community shower house with tiny stalls. Very quiet as well. I’m always intrigued by people who leave negative reviews…come on! If you cannot give this place five stars I’m thinking you need to give up the RV life and stay home.
Sep 14, 2025 · Debi WilderThis place was stunning in July. We had visited in the offseason to book our site, but pulling in this place this past weekend, it looked like a different park. The grounds are well kept, the facilities were clean, bathrooms were really nice and the staff were great. Our site was spacious and level. The hook up all worked as they should. We were with in seconds of a bath house and laundry room, and only a couple minute walk to the pool. The pool was very nice and not overly crowded surprisingly. I will say the chlorine was a little overwhelming and the kids that were there each day were little terrors at times with the splashing. But it's to be expected. The store has what you need, they offer the essentials. Wood can be delivered to your site. They had an onsite bar, snack shack, billiards room, fitness center, event room, and they had a live band on Saturday. And if that wasnt enough bang for your buck, each night they hosted a movie night on a huge projector screen on the courtyard. They had nice fire pits to sit at and picnic tables too. But it's a resort, and for the cost, I think it was worth every penny we spent. We will be definitely re booking here for next season.
Jul 14, 2025 · Kyle PhillipsI visited Pine Lake this past week for the first time. This campground is absolutely amazing, it went way beyond my expectations. I rented a dog friendly cabin and was able to take my dog with me. I love that I was able to go online and choose my location, it was absolutely perfect. The cabin was really well kept, super clean and came with everything we needed. I liked that there was an updated air-conditioning system, a stove top, microwave and toaster, along with utensils. I was happy to see that we had our own deck with a picnic table and a firepit on our cabin site. Our site was next to a hiking trail that was a bit overgrown and we couldn't find the path but there's countless hiking trails really close by, some even within walking distance. The location is remote enough to feel like you're in the middle of nowhere feel but there's plenty of resturants and grocery stores nearby. The pool was wonderful, really clean and well-kept, not overly chlorinated and there were plenty of lounge chairs and tables and a hot tub which was really nice. There's bathsuites around the campground which are really convenient and I was impressed with how clean they were. We also rented a kayak and had a lot of fun! The staff was so friendly and helpful which I really appreciated, they answered any questions I had and the woman who checked me in was really nice. The check-in area/store had a good variety of items and fair prices. I appreciated that there's a gate code you have to use if you leave and come back after hours, it made me feel safer. Walking my dog around I met so many friendly people, everyone was so nice, happy and relaxed. The campground is really well kept and beautiful, it's taken care of very well. Before a friend had recommended Pine Lake to me I was about to spend nearly 3x as much at another campground, I couldn't believe how fair the prices were! It's very affordable, especially for all the amenities and comfort that you're getting. I needed some time away and some peace and I absolutely found that at Pine Lake. I've been recommending this place to any and everyone and this campground is my family's new place that we plan on visiting at least once a year, hopefully more, as often as we can! Highly recommended!
