Services Offered

Little Lick Campground is primarily focused on providing a serene, primitive camping experience, which means its services are geared towards facilitating a comfortable and undisturbed natural retreat. While not a resort with extensive amenities, the campground offers essential features that enhance the rustic appeal.

  • Primitive Campsites: The core offering at Little Lick Campground is its primitive campsites. This means campers should be prepared to be self-sufficient, as there are no direct hookups for water, electricity, or sewer at individual sites. This fosters a true wilderness experience, encouraging a deeper connection with nature.
  • Well-Maintained Grounds: Despite its primitive nature, the campground is "well maintained," ensuring that the camping areas and surrounding environment are clean and pleasant for visitors.
  • Good Cell Signal (Verizon): A unique and often appreciated service for a remote campground is the availability of good cell signal, particularly for Verizon users. This allows campers to stay connected if needed, offering a blend of wilderness immersion and modern convenience.
  • Quiet Environment: The campground's location at the end of a dead-end, one-lane road ensures "no traffic" and a consistently "quiet at night" atmosphere. This is a key service in itself for those seeking peace and relaxation.
  • Natural Water Source Access: While not a developed water tap, visitors have noted a "very small shallow stream to the left of the trail about 1-2 miles down" that can serve as a natural water source. Campers should be prepared to filter or treat any water gathered from natural sources.
  • Security and Patrol: Although not explicitly stated as a dedicated security team, reviews mention "drones in the air on any given day or evening. Not Civilian." This suggests a form of official oversight or monitoring that contributes to the safety and order of the campground, providing an implicit service of reassurance for campers.

These services, though minimal, are precisely what make Little Lick Campground an ideal destination for those who appreciate the simplicity and tranquility of true primitive camping, with just enough modern connectivity to ease the mind.

Despite what you may hear/read the only water source us and the other campers know of is a very small shallow stream to the left of the trail about 1-2 miles down. If it was not for my bloodhound we would have missed it completely. Otherwise it is the perfect Serene getaway and we were able to meet some very lovely people from around the country.

Toilets were not set up as of last weekend, perhaps because it was early in the season. Five miles down a well-maintained gravel road, easy access even with a sports car. Access to hiking trails. It was pleasant after the RV turned off its generator but I used earplugs before that. Good distance between sites but that noise carried. Just a couple bugs and not bothersome. Set up at the end to get a view of sunset. Was nearly full even on a Sunday night.

This is a very quiet and secluded campground. Though it is designated as a horse camp, there were no horses in the five days I was there. There is no running water. They did have two port-a-potties next to the beginning of the trail. Make sure to take your bug repellent.

Enjoyed a night of silence besides the crickets. Out of the way on a well maintained gravel road. Close to some trailheads, but far from everything else. Can't beat a FREE campground.
