Customer Reviews
This was our second time in Holly Bay Campground. This time was as good as the first time. The bathrooms are very clean as well as the campsite. The campsites are very spacious and there is plenty of space between them.
Had a wonderful and relaxing time here. At times we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. Sites were clean and spacious and the trails around the lake were nice. The hike down to the lake was steep but loved being able to leave kayaks and such on the water for the duration of the stay. Our campground host Gino met us at arrival and shared some local tips. Thank the lord he told us how amazing the cliffs were back in Craig’s Creek otherwise we would not have found or made the journey all the way back there. Thanks so much Gino!
This was our first time here. We absolutely loved it. We were in H6 and H7. Kind of a steep walk to the lake but worth it. We just had bathrooms on our loop, but we could drive or hike the trail to the showers in another loop. Our camp host (Gino) was AMAZING!!! There was a cat that came around our site, and we found out that he has been there for around 4 months. He took to us right away, so we ended up bringing him home to NC. So, if this is your cat let me know. Definitely our favorite campground so far. We will be back!!!
Beautiful campground. Well maintained. Laurel Lake is so clean and clear. We had a site with a private path to the lake which was wonderful. Our site was a double site with plenty of room for us to spread out and not feel on top of each other. It is a 5 minute drive to a clean, sand beach. We will definitely be back.
We stayed here for 5 nights and wished it was longer. We were in A9 which was on the main road through the park but set back enough traffic didn't bother us. The site was down hill but then flattened out. We were worried as we backed in the fifth wheel as it was was squashing down on the top of the tailgate due to the downward slope but it quickly flattened out. Be aware some sites are uphill some downhill, very few are flat. We had a 3" tilt side to side so needed Andersons. Power was more to the front of the site and as we had to push the rv right to the back to get level we had to use an extension. The sites are nestled in the forest which provided great shade as yhe temperatures were 90+ each day. Due to the trees coverage we could not use the Starlink but cell service was good. The bathrooms were close to our site which was good but we noted a lot of sites around the park would have to bike, walk or drive to them and there are some big hills. H17, H18 and H19 would be the worst for this. Driving a 40ft fifth wheel around the park was good though access into the dump was a squeeze due to trees. Note there is only 1 dump. There is no beach here and water is only accessible at the boat ramp for boaters. If you want a beach and to swim head along to the dam, park at the big lot just before the spillway and walk down to the beach. If you head to the far end you can get some shade from the cliffs though note the restrooms are at the other end. We were there mid week and it was quiet but I can see it being very busy on a weekend or holiday. There are 2 hikes around the park but due to the heat we didn't go on them preferring to wait until the evening and walk up and down the park roads. This was quite a workout with the hills. We would definitely return here.
