Introduction / Overview
For Minnesota residents eager to explore the unparalleled beauty of the North Star State's top tier of wilderness, Voyageurs RV Campground and Cabins in International Falls offers a strategically located basecamp. Situated conveniently in the gateway city to Voyageurs National Park, this campground aims to provide essential amenities for both RV enthusiasts and traditional tent campers. Its primary appeal lies in its geographic advantage, placing guests within easy reach of the region’s key attractions—the vast, water-based National Park and the nearby Canadian border.
Voyageurs RV Campground and Cabins provides various site types, including full hookup RV spots, dedicated tent areas, and cabin rentals, catering to a diverse range of outdoor adventurers. The facility is designed to offer a practical place to stay when exploring this remote corner of Minnesota. However, to provide a complete and factual picture for our local audience, it is important to address the nuances of the guest experience. While the location is consistently praised, some recent customer feedback indicates inconsistencies in on-site maintenance, particularly concerning the cleanliness of communal facilities like restrooms and the upkeep of specific campsites and amenities such as fire pits. Additionally, the location's proximity to a main thoroughfare means visitors should anticipate some level of highway noise, which may affect the tranquility of their stay.
Prospective guests should view this campground as a highly convenient and functional place to rest and recharge between adventures, rather than a secluded, luxury resort. Its value is firmly rooted in its location, offering quick access to Rainy Lake and the surrounding wilderness areas that define the International Falls experience. The facility operates with a focus on ease of access, offering 24-hour check-in options, often managed without a permanently manned office, which suits late arrivals but requires guests to be largely self-sufficient during their stay.
Location and Accessibility
Voyageurs RV Campground and Cabins is located at 2031 2nd Ave, International Falls, MN 56649, USA. This address places it directly in International Falls, the county seat of Koochiching County, a community known as "The Icebox of the Nation." The campground’s strategic position offers truly excellent accessibility for regional and international travelers alike.
The location is just minutes from the Rainy Lake Visitor Center, one of the three main access points to Voyageurs National Park. This makes it an ideal spot for Minnesotans looking to rent a boat, take a park tour, or simply spend a day hiking the nearby trails like the Oberholtzer Trail. Furthermore, the campground's proximity to the international border crossing to Fort Frances, Ontario, makes it a convenient stop for those planning to combine their Minnesota vacation with a trip into Canada. The campground sits very close to a major highway (US 53), which ensures easy access for large RVs and quick navigation to local services like fuel, groceries, and dining in downtown International Falls. However, this same convenience contributes to the reported issue of highway noise, a trade-off for the excellent connectivity. The general accessibility for big-rig RVs, with pull-thru sites and generally level gravel pads, is a major benefit for those traveling with larger vehicles.
Services Offered
The campground offers a practical array of services designed to meet the needs of modern campers, particularly those traveling by RV. While the self-check-in nature means the office may not always be staffed, the core utility and connectivity services remain available.
Features / Highlights
The true value proposition of Voyageurs RV Campground and Cabins lies in its location and the opportunities it unlocks for a Minnesota wilderness vacation.

Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals
Voyageurs RV Campground and Cabins is highly suitable for Minnesota locals who prioritize location and connectivity above all else for their Northwoods trip. For the seasoned Minnesota RVer or adventurous family whose goal is simply to have a secure place to park their rig or pitch a tent while maximizing their time on the water or in Voyageurs National Park, this campground serves its core purpose effectively.
The minutes-long drive to the Rainy Lake Visitor Center and the straightforward access to the US-Canada border are unbeatable logistical advantages. For locals planning a multi-day fishing charter or a packed schedule of park tours, the convenience outweighs the trade-offs of highway noise and sometimes-lacking site maintenance. It is an affordable and practical launchpad for exploring the state's rugged northern frontier.
However, local users should set realistic expectations: the experience here is pragmatic, not luxurious. Travelers looking for a perfectly manicured, silent, or resort-style experience might prefer a different location. Those who understand that camping in the Northwoods is an inherently rustic endeavor, and who are willing to overlook minor maintenance issues for the sake of unparalleled access to the region’s natural treasures, will find Voyageurs RV Campground and Cabins to be a perfectly functional and well-positioned home base. Preparing for a rustic, self-reliant stay—perhaps bringing your own portable fire pit and extra cleaning supplies—will ensure that the convenient location becomes the focus of your memorable Minnesota adventure.

Great location for easy access to Voyageurs National Park or the Canadian border. Wifi is available near the office. The camp office is not manned. Being next to the highway can be noisy. While there are showers and at a comfortable temperature, they are by no means "clean" as advertised. The trash in the bathrooms had not been emptied in the three days we were there and leaves were accumulating on the floor.
Sep 16, 2025 · Eric GravesThis was by far the worst campground I’ve ever stayed at. We stayed in a tent site right next to someone’s private fence who had a barking dog. The site was so small we were practically on top of the person next door. We showed up and our “fire pit” had partially burned trash and food and was covered in flies. The ring itself had only 1 of 3 legs so it was laying on its side. The bottom was rusted out. It was completely unusable. One would think that the staff or owners would walk around and inspect the sites and their supposed provided amenities to make sure they are in working order before paying guests arrive. We were absolutely not impressed at all. We ended up showing up late the first night after setting up our tent and then visiting with family. Was awoken at 6 am by all the other campers and their dogs. The next morning we packed up our tent and got out of there to go rent a room because it was so bad. We paid $50 to spend one nights worth of sleep, if you could call it that, and feel our money was completely wasted. The only plus was the convenience of the location. Do not recommend.
Aug 25, 2025 · Stacie GiuntaI would recommend your campground based on location and a nice layout. However, since I booked four sites, I was very confused as far as your reservation process. I got texts from four different numbers and no one responded other than very short and ambiguous text, except for the last one. As far as the premises is concerned, the seat in the women’s bathroom was disconnected, and there was no toilet paper for the first day. The Restroom and shower facilities we’re definitely in need of substantial repair and updating. The driveway was in need of some grading due to very large potholes, especially on the entrance and exit. Lastly, there was no signage as to where to place garbage and/or recyclables.
Sep 25, 2025 · Lynn ZibellWe stayed in the campground -- convenient to town, nice shaded site with full hookups, convenient access to bathroom-showers. Shower was clean but rather weathered with no hot water, but when I contacted Josh he immediately replaced gas tank and, yippee, nice hot shower! We would stay there again.
Jul 19, 2025 · Sans PWe stayed four nights in site 6. The campground was kept mowed and clean, and it was easy to drive into and park with our small rig. The restrooms needed some attention and restocking. There was quite a bit of noise from the highway, and sites are pretty close together, but it was a good base for us to explore Voyageurs National Park.
