For those in North Carolina who embrace the freedom of the open road and the comfort of their recreational vehicle, finding the perfect RV park is key to a memorable adventure. Nestled along the scenic French Broad River in the vibrant city of Asheville, Wilson's Riverfront RV Park offers a convenient and appealing base for exploring all that Western North Carolina has to offer. This article will delve into what makes Wilson's Riverfront RV Park a suitable choice for RV enthusiasts, from its prime location to its useful amenities.
Wilson's Riverfront RV Park provides a unique blend of urban accessibility and natural beauty. It's designed for travelers who appreciate the convenience of being close to city attractions while still enjoying the tranquility of a riverside setting. Whether you’re planning a weekend getaway, a longer stay to immerse yourself in Asheville's culture, or just passing through, this RV park aims to provide a functional and welcoming environment for your RV. The park's layout and amenities are geared towards making your stay as comfortable as possible, allowing you to focus on the adventures that await you in Asheville and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains.
Many North Carolina residents enjoy the RV lifestyle for its flexibility and the ability to explore various regions at their own pace. Wilson's Riverfront RV Park caters to this demand by offering a practical solution for those looking to experience Asheville from the comfort of their own RV. It's a place where you can park your home-on-wheels and easily venture out to discover local breweries, art galleries, hiking trails, or historical sites, returning to a convenient and familiar space at the end of the day.
The strategic location of Wilson's Riverfront RV Park is arguably one of its most significant advantages for RV travelers in North Carolina. Situated at 225 Amboy Rd, Asheville, NC 28806, USA, the park boasts exceptional proximity to downtown Asheville, a hub of culture, cuisine, and entertainment. This means that within minutes, visitors can be exploring the eclectic shops, renowned restaurants, and vibrant arts scene that Asheville is famous for. The ease of access to the city’s highlights is a major draw for many.
One of the standout features of its location is the direct access to the French Broad River Greenway. This popular paved trail runs right through the RV park, offering residents and visitors immediate opportunities for walking, jogging, and biking along the picturesque river. This is a huge benefit for those who enjoy outdoor activities and want to stay active during their stay. The greenway connects to various parks and natural areas, providing a seamless way to experience Asheville’s natural beauty without needing to drive.
While the park is conveniently located next to a highway, offering easy ingress and egress, some visitors note the presence of road noise. However, many find that the convenience of the location and the river views outweigh this aspect, and with modern RV insulation, it often becomes a non-issue. GPS navigation can sometimes be a bit tricky for the exact entrance, so it's always a good idea to pay close attention to signs or check for specific arrival instructions before your visit. Despite this minor navigational note, the park’s position makes it an ideal launchpad for exploring not only Asheville but also the wider Western North Carolina region, including the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway and countless hiking and outdoor recreation spots. Its central location also makes it a prime spot for visiting iconic attractions like the Biltmore Estate, which is just a short drive away.
Wilson's Riverfront RV Park aims to provide a straightforward and convenient experience for its guests. While not a resort-style park with extensive amenities, it focuses on delivering the core services essential for comfortable RV living.
Wilson's Riverfront RV Park, while focusing on practicality, offers several key features and highlights that make it an attractive option for RVers in North Carolina.

We stayed here for 3 nights with our small camper. Some things we liked about this campground: the proximity to Asheville, the concrete pads underneath the campers, the river view, the trash pick-up each morning, the easy online check-in process, the access to the bike path, the small-ish size, and the price. Honestly, the noise level was not bad. It's next to a highway, so I'm not sure what kind of silent evening miracle people were expecting in previous reviews? We slept through it with no problem! However, we were really disappointed with the bathroom situation. The first day, someone was actively cleaning it. But, judging by the same pieces of trash/hair clumps/bugs being in the same place on my 3rd day there, it's safe to say it isn't cleaned very often. The toilets were new and the showers were hot, but the bathrooms smelled badly for most of the time. The only other issue is that a lot of transient folks were making their way into the campground; one guy even asking if he could tie his tarps to our vehicle. He spent the rest of the evening talking to himself and fidgeting with his site about a foot from our camper windows. It's not necessarily Wilson's fault, as homelessness is an issue in this area, but maybe some security measures can be put into effect? Overall, I would probably recommend this campground, as it is a decent value for the money.
Jul 07, 2024 · Dana BonarrigoWe stayed for three nights. The spaces are all back in, it’s very cramped & hard to find.. gps brings you way down the road. I couldn’t get anyone on the phone days before or day of to help figure out where they were located or to help with anything for that matter. It’s literally NEXT to the interstate so it’s quite noisy day & night. There is a bike/park path that runs from a park down the street right through the RV park so there are people and animals just walking, jogging and riding through nonstop all day long! It IS close to town and everything you want to go see, and that’s its ONLY saving grace! The sewage is so gross we couldn’t leave the black water open without strong orders & bugs invading our camper! I did finally reach someone through email for a question about our reservation but it was not very helpful. It wasn’t the worst place but far from the best! Definitely overpriced for what it is. I had read some other reviews saying how disgusting the bathrooms were so I didn’t bother exploring those areas.
Jul 25, 2024 · Julie RiggsI enjoyed 4 nights at the Wilson's Riverfront RV Park. All the other reviews are correct. Yes, the turn is to sharp for a RV. Yes, you will have runners, bikers, and walkers going through the middle of the campground. Yes, the spots are close together. Yes, you will be next to an interstate. With that being said, I did enjoy staying at the campground. I wasn't hopeful about fishing after seeing the 7 ft. drop to the water and all the trees. Tried anyways to fish and had one good day. Caught small mouth, catfish and bluegills. Just expect your line to get stuck a lot on rocks.
Aug 29, 2024 · Shelby RobertsThis was a great RV park! Vicki was very kind and helpful! The nearby highway was a non issue. We never saw any threatening people. There is a path right down the middle that is busy with bikers, walkers, runners! We exercised twice and went different directions! There was a food truck and beer truck one way that was super fun to watch people tubing on the river! Quick Uber or Lyft ride to center of town ranging from $8 to $11.
Aug 04, 2024 · Ann DicksonWe stayed here for a few nights during the Thanksgiving holiday. The campsite is conveniently located for those who are interested in exploring Asheville. Yes, it is near the highway, which means there is noise - you are in the city. It was not a surprise to us that there would be some noise. The campground itself is clean, quiet and has cement pads which was a huge plus. We also enjoyed the easy and convenient access to the walking trail as we had our two dogs with us. We would definitely stay again!
