Clairmont Crest is situated at 710 Sand Hill Rd, Asheville, NC 28806, USA. This address places the community in West Asheville, an area known for its unique blend of historic charm, artistic vibe, and increasing popularity. For North Carolina residents, particularly those in the Western part of the state, this location offers significant advantages in terms of accessibility to both urban amenities and natural attractions.
Being located in Asheville means residents of Clairmont Crest have convenient access to a wide array of services and facilities. This includes proximity to major roadways such as Interstate 40, making commutes to other parts of Asheville or nearby towns relatively straightforward. Essential amenities like grocery stores, pharmacies, banking services, and various retail outlets are typically just a short drive away, catering to daily needs. West Asheville itself boasts a vibrant scene with local businesses, restaurants, and breweries, offering unique community experiences.
Furthermore, the location provides reasonable access to Asheville's bustling downtown area, with its diverse cultural attractions, dining establishments, and entertainment venues. For those who enjoy the outdoors, the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains and numerous parks are within easy reach, offering opportunities for hiking, biking, and enjoying nature's tranquility. The area on Sand Hill Road is generally well-connected, making it a practical base for individuals and families who desire to live within the Asheville area without being in the immediate urban core. While resident feedback mentions "displaced by the flood," indicating vulnerability to natural events, the general geographic placement offers broad accessibility to the region's resources and opportunities.
As a mobile home park, Clairmont Crest primarily provides residential lots for manufactured homes, and in some cases, may offer park-owned homes for rent. The core service revolves around the leasing of these individual plots or units to residents. Based on the nature of mobile home parks and the provided feedback, here’s an overview of the services typically offered, alongside insights into aspects that have been noted by past and current residents regarding maintenance and management:
- Residential Lot Leasing: The fundamental service is providing individual spaces, or lots, within the park where residents can place their mobile or manufactured homes. Residents typically own their homes and pay a monthly or annual rent for the land lease.
- Park-Owned Home Rentals (Implied): Resident feedback mentions an "elderly women that rented a home that the park owned." This indicates that, at least historically, the park offered rental units in addition to lot leases, providing more flexibility for potential residents.
- Basic Utility Hook-ups: Each lot is generally equipped with essential utility connections, including water, sewer, and electrical hook-ups, necessary for a habitable manufactured home. Residents are usually responsible for connecting to these utilities and paying for their consumption.
- Internal Road Maintenance: The park management is typically responsible for maintaining the internal roads within the community. While not explicitly detailed, the overall "clean and well-kept" nature expected of a residential community suggests general maintenance.
- Community Management and Communication (with noted concerns): The park has management, but resident feedback highlights significant issues with communication, especially after ownership changes and natural disasters. Comments like "zero communication from the new owners" and "just told nothing available from the site manager" indicate a potential lack of transparent or empathetic communication, particularly concerning displaced residents.
- Home Sales/Upgrades (Implied by reviews): Reviews suggest the park might be bringing in "new trailers for you to buy," indicating a business model that includes selling new manufactured homes or upgrading existing inventory within the park. This would be a service for prospective homeowners.
- Flood Management/Recovery (Critical Area): The direct mention of residents being "displaced by the flood" and having "lost our place" implies that flood management and post-flood recovery support are critical, though areas of concern based on resident experience regarding communication and rehousing efforts.
Prospective residents should conduct thorough due diligence, including visiting the park and, if possible, speaking with current residents, to assess the current state of these services and the overall management approach, particularly concerning communication, maintenance, and resident support.
Drawing from the provided resident feedback and the general characteristics of mobile home parks, here are some features and potential highlights of Clairmont Crest, with important considerations:
- Designated "Family Friendly Community": The park's name itself, "Clairmont Crest, A Family Friendly Community," suggests an environment welcoming to families with children, potentially offering amenities or a community atmosphere geared towards diverse age groups. This is a significant highlight for families seeking an inclusive neighborhood.
- Long-Term Residency Possible: One reviewer mentioned "Been there since 08," indicating that the park supports long-term residency. This allows individuals and families to establish roots and call it home for extended periods, which can be a desirable feature for stability in housing.
- Location in West Asheville: The park's address on Sand Hill Road in West Asheville offers residents access to a popular and vibrant part of the city. This provides convenient proximity to essential services, retail, and broader city amenities, including local shops, breweries, and restaurants unique to West Asheville.
- Affordable Housing Option (Implied, with caveats): Mobile home parks typically offer a more budget-friendly housing solution compared to purchasing a traditional stick-built home in desirable markets like Asheville. However, the feedback mentions "Lot fees went up every year (just a little) but when the park got new owners it shot up almost double," suggesting that affordability can be subject to significant changes and should be carefully investigated.
- Community Structure: For those who prefer a neighborhood setting with individual lots as opposed to apartment living, mobile home parks provide a distinct community structure. This can offer a sense of personal space and a more traditional neighborhood feel.
It is crucial, however, to acknowledge the significant concerns raised by residents regarding ownership changes, communication issues, sudden increases in lot fees, and management's handling of residents, particularly the elderly, after natural disasters like floods. These are critical factors that directly impact the quality of life and financial stability within the community and should be thoroughly investigated by anyone considering moving to Clairmont Crest.
Information regarding specific promotions or special offers for Clairmont Crest is not available within the provided customer reviews or general public data. Mobile home parks primarily operate by leasing residential lots for manufactured homes, and their pricing structure typically revolves around consistent monthly lot rent. They generally do not advertise short-term promotions in the same way retail businesses or vacation rentals might.
However, for individuals interested in Clairmont Crest, it is always recommended to directly contact the park management to inquire about current pricing, available lots, and any specific terms that might be offered. While not "promotions" in the traditional sense, they would be able to provide information on:
- Current Lot Rental Rates: This is the most important financial detail. Given the feedback about "lot fees went up... almost double" with new owners, it is critical to get current and future projected rates in writing.
- Lease Terms: Information on the duration of lease agreements (e.g., month-to-month, annual) and any associated benefits or requirements.
- Availability: Details on which specific lots or park-owned homes are currently available for lease/rent and if there's a waiting list.
- Fees: A breakdown of any additional fees, such as utility hook-up fees, trash collection fees, or maintenance fees, beyond the base lot rent.
- Home Purchase Options: If the park is bringing in "new trailers for you to buy," inquire about terms for purchasing a home within the community.
Given the significant concerns raised in the reviews about sudden lot fee increases and communication issues, prospective residents should use this direct contact opportunity to ask probing questions about the stability of pricing, long-term rate increase policies, and how management communicates changes or addresses resident concerns. This will be crucial for a comprehensive understanding.

For North Carolina residents considering long-term residential options in the Asheville area, Clairmont Crest presents a specific set of characteristics that may align with certain needs. Its fundamental suitability for locals primarily revolves around its geographic placement and its stated aim to be a "family-friendly community."
Firstly, the park's location on Sand Hill Road in West Asheville provides residents with access to the broader amenities and opportunities of one of North Carolina's most vibrant cities. This means convenience for shopping, healthcare, cultural events, and employment, all within a reasonable commute. For individuals and families seeking a residential setting that is well-connected to a major urban hub, this location offers practical advantages. West Asheville's unique charm, with its local businesses and community feel, can also be a significant draw for residents.
Secondly, the designation as a "family friendly community" suggests an environment designed to welcome and support households with children, potentially offering a more inclusive and diverse neighborhood atmosphere compared to age-restricted communities. This can be appealing to North Carolina families looking for an affordable entry point into the Asheville housing market. Mobile home parks generally offer a more budget-friendly housing solution compared to traditional stick-built homes or apartment rentals in desirable markets like Asheville. The ability to own a home (a manufactured home) while leasing the land, or in some cases, rent a park-owned home, can provide a sense of stability and personal investment. The park's history of accommodating long-term residents also indicates a potential for stability for those looking to establish roots.
However, it is critical for prospective North Carolina locals to acknowledge and thoroughly investigate the significant concerns highlighted in resident reviews. These include issues with communication following ownership changes, substantial increases in lot rent, and challenges related to flood displacement, particularly affecting elderly residents. While Clairmont Crest offers an accessible entry point into the Asheville housing market and a family-friendly environment, its suitability ultimately depends on a prospective resident's tolerance for these stated challenges and their ability to verify current conditions, management responsiveness, and long-term financial stability directly. For those who prioritize location and a family-friendly community and are prepared to engage proactively with management to understand current policies, it remains an option in Western North Carolina.
Customer Reviews
Used to a decent place but it's changed hands a lot. Sure miss the Bowers.Been there since 08 and got displaced by the flood. Lost our place and yet have had any communication from the new owners. Just told nothing available from the site manager. But yet plenty of livable places getting hauled out to bring in new trailers for you to buy and pay a 850+ lot rent so they don't have to keep up with the trailers. It seems they welcomed the flood so they can get rid of the people that have been there for a long time. Gearing for a 55+ community? So displacing a elderly women at 70 with zero communication that lost mostly all the things is okay for these new property owners. ** Since I am unable to comment on the reply below. All that rambling on about help and aid from Florida doesn't mean a thing when you ignore the real issue. A fixed income elderly women that rented a home that the park owned is now homeless with zero regard on placing her in another unit. As I said prior. Plenty of trailers that are livable being moved out which could house some of the displaced people that you so much care about. Still ignoring the issue of a displaced elderly lady that rented a place from the park that they owned. It's not that we feel, it's a fact. It's simple black and white.
I lived here for over 3 years. Management sucked, and property owners sucked. Lot fees went up every year (just a little) but when the park got new owners it shot up almost double. There are better MH parks out there...keep looking.
Have lived here for 2 years and I love it. Nice, quiet neighborhood, good friendly neighbors, and the property manager, Don, is incredibly knowledgeable and easy to deal with.
I called and asked if he had any rentals available and I explained that I had two small dogs and two cats and all he said was I'm sorry sir and then hung up. Real professional sir real professional. Didn't even give me a chance to explain myself or ask any information about myself. It was really rude and get if you don't allow pets but all you have to do is maybe give me a recommendation for somewhere else that does instead of just hanging up on me. I wouldn't want to live in your park anyway. Keep up the good work !
We rented an rv space there because my husband has to travel for work, it was pricy but a nice, quite location. However, the job told us on the 3rd day of the month we had to move to South Carolina by the 5th. We just paid $850 lot rent on the first. I’ve tried calling every number I can find to see if they would pro-rate the lot rent since we were only there 4 days. I’ve left multiple messages and no one will call me back. Seems to have poor customer service.
