Location and Accessibility
Allegheny River Campground is strategically situated for accessing the best of the PA Wilds region, sitting on Historic Route 6 West, a famous and scenic drive that traverses northern Pennsylvania. The physical address is 1737 US-6, Roulette, PA 16746, USA.
Its location is highly accessible for Pennsylvania residents traveling from both the east and west, positioned approximately six miles west of the town of Coudersport. Allegheny River Campground is highly suitable for Pennsylvania locals because it blends the state's rugged 'PA Wilds' appeal with the comfort and entertainment of a modern family resort. It provides an accessible, amenity-rich 'staycation' option that requires minimal travel time from much of Western and Central Pennsylvania, yet delivers a truly remote, Northwoods feel.
For a local family that enjoys traditional Pennsylvania camping—river fishing, campfires, and wide-open spaces—this campground is perfect. Its dual focus on river recreation and organized, on-site activities ensures that every member of the family, from the youngest child to the RV enthusiast, has an engaging experience. Critically, its location acts as a reliable and high-quality base camp for those pursuing two of Pennsylvania's most unique natural assets: the world-class dark skies of Cherry Springs State Park and the expansive beauty of the Allegheny River headwaters. Supporting this family-run operation allows Pennsylvania residents to enjoy a clean, well-maintained, and consistently excellent outdoor experience right here in their home state.

Beautiful, medium-sized, family run campground near the head-waters of the Allegheny River. We take the family every summer. Beautiful views and one of the best star-watching sites in Pennsylvania! The amenities are nice and clean. They also offer activities for the kids. Full hookup RV sites through primitive tent camping, and everything in between.
Jul 30, 2025 · Mike ChalmersBeautiful campground. The premium sites are gorgeous. The sights are level, comes with two chairs, table, picnic bench, Fire pit,and a concrete pad. The bathrooms are very clean and well maintained.
Jul 27, 2025 · Yann JonesWe spent a wonderful weekend at this campground with our extended family. We rented 2 cabins and 1 cottage. The cabins had bathrooms and slept all 4 of us comfortably. I must say the beds are very uncomfortable, very thin mattress. But all in all, understandable. The cottage had the same types of mattresses but a larger fridge, 2 burner cooktop as well as all of the plates and cooking utensils. You do need to provide your own linens. The campground has a phenomenal pool, mini golf, little peddle cart and really tasty ice cream. We are regular campers and were very impressed with this campground. We did notice full hookup sites which if we came back we would definitely take advantage of. My kids purchased tubes from the shop and did a mini float down the river. Overall this was a very clean, fun place. The staff we encountered was also very friendly and helpful. Recommend a visit to this location.
Jun 28, 2024 · Juli AnneThe campground is nice, but our experience was not. We stayed at site T7 (tent only) on a holiday weekend. The campground had a special display of fireworks, and we had fun tubing in the creek. Their pool is very nice. We had hoped for a quiet getaway, but this was not the case. Other campers enjoyed playing loud music in the creek, and we were awoken one night at 1 am from loud music within the campground. Be aware that if you stay at site T7, there is a house directly across the creek that was also quite noisy while we were there. We did have a noise issue at 7 am in the morning (quiet hours are supposedly 10 pm to 8 am), but the camp admin responded to my email about that and said they would take care of it. Other mornings were quieter for us. I wish the nighttime quiet hours had been enforced just as quickly. The campground does not have an alcohol policy or guidelines, so I’m quite sure that some of the loud music was a result of the partying that happened at all hours. Not the family environment I was expecting. We also had multiple people walk across our tent site during our stay. They were pulling tubes out of the creek (our site had direct access to the creek) and also to gain access to the house across the creek. Very disrespectful to our space. As much as we enjoyed the creek access, tubing, and pool, the noise disturbances and constant intrusions on our campsite are enough to say that we will not return to this campground. I did email about my experience to the campground, but only received an apology in response. There was no indication that they would follow up with my complaints to reinforce their rules in the future.
Jul 11, 2024 · Shelley MathiasI really loved staying at Allegheny River Campground. It was easy to get to and the sites were good sized. We were on #27 and had a beautiful spot right on the river, complete with a beautiful sound. Our site was partially shaded with some beautiful trees. Campground was very neat and restrooms were clean. We are going back in September. I don't have kids, but there was alot for them to do; pool, splash pad, playground, games. I would highly recommend Allegheny River Campground.
