To our own spot after we decided to purchase our own." This level of personal service highlights the dedication to ensuring every guest has a smooth and enjoyable experience. Whether you’re looking to unwind amidst nature, explore local attractions, or provide a fun-filled adventure for the kids, Banning RV Park & Campground is designed to be your ideal home away from home in Minnesota.

For Minnesotans traveling from the Twin Cities metropolitan area, the drive to Finlayson is straightforward and manageable, offering a convenient escape to nature without an excessively long journey. What truly enhances Banning RV Park & Campground’s location is its proximity to Banning State Park. A reviewer explicitly stated, "State park camping couldn't possibly own up the amenities here, book here if you're thinking of visiting the local State Park!" This suggests that while not directly inside the state park, it serves as an excellent, amenity-rich alternative or complementary base for exploring its unique geological features, including the Kettle River and its rapids. This strategic location offers the best of both worlds: a peaceful campground setting with easy access to one of Minnesota's natural treasures.
Banning RV Park & Campground is committed to providing a comfortable and convenient stay for all its guests, offering a range of services designed to enhance your camping experience.
- Full Hookup RV Sites: Most sites are equipped with essential hookups including 20, 30, and 50 amp electric service, potable water connections, and sewer hookups, providing all the comforts of home.
- Camper Rentals: Uniquely, the park offers camper rentals, such as the "Wolf Pup rental," making camping accessible even for those without their own RV. This allows newcomers to experience RV life without the initial investment.

- Restroom Facilities: Bathrooms are provided, though a review mentions they can be "a bit old and cold," suggesting guests should be prepared for more rustic facilities in this area.
- Internet Access: Wi-Fi is generally available, though a review mentioned it was "barely functional" at one point, indicating that internet connectivity might be inconsistent and should not be relied upon for critical tasks.

- Kid-Friendly Amenities: Beyond playgrounds, the park offers a variety of engaging activities for children, such as soccer, bouncy balls, and even bowling pins inside the laundry area, demonstrating a clear focus on keeping young campers entertained.
- Abundant Trees: The presence of numerous trees contributes to a shaded, natural, and aesthetically pleasing environment, offering privacy and a true camping feel.
- Accommodating Site Selection: Owners are adept at recommending suitable spots based on guest preferences, ensuring a personalized experience.

Customer Reviews
Overall OK. Great people, quiet, trees. First day of season so things were still a bit disorganized. Bathrooms bit old and cold. Internet was barely functional.
Owner Tim and Traci(?)are great, very accommodating! They helped me change my reservation from the camper Wolf Pup rental (yes, they can rent out a camper!) To our own spot after we decided to purchase our own. They recommended a good spot based on our preferences too. Had an issue finding water when we got in after hours but Tim helped me out through texts and we got squared away. Also had an issue with the washing machine once during the stay and They took care of the issue right away as well. Family enjoyed the many kid friendly amenities (though the main playground had seen better days and had a loose railing..see photo on the right side...careful!) - soccer, bouncy balls, bowling pins inside the laundry area, many playgrounds, swings. Who cares if there isn't a pool...lots to do for fun! State park camping couldn't possibly own up the amenities here, book here if you're thinking of visiting the local State Park!
Pros: -General store -Two dump stations -Multiple indoor bathroom & shower locations (pavilion family bathroom/ shower are nice and remodeled. Other bathroom/showers get the job done) -Multiple playgrounds -Basketball & volleyball courts -Dog gated park with equipment -Pretty quiet and people respected quiet hours -Close to 35 and Banning State Park -Each campsite had a table & firestone ring -Spot 902 had lots of mature trees allowing for extra shade -Staff were super nice -Ran into multiple cleaning people in the bathrooms throughout the long weekend which was awesome. Felt they were cleaned well. Note, it was raining hence the mud on the floor in the bathrooms. Cons: -Camping spots are close in proximity to each other but pretty standard for weekend spots. We really enjoyed our time and recommend it.
Cute campground for quiet simple stay. Bathrooms are old but the pavilion has two nice family bathrooms with showers. There are two playgrounds, a dog play area, balls to play on volley field and basketball court. Also had a little old school arcade with picnic area and washer and dryers. Was not busy. Staff was helpful and kind when I wanted to move lots for a little more privacy. Cute little store with basic needs and trinkets. Super close to banning State Park and a gas station. Not the most in the woods feeling but not the perfect cut grass and gravel RV campground either. Nice in between. Great star gazing ✨
We were really hoping to enjoy our experience this time, as we did in 2021. So we brought a huge group of 20+ people, and we camped around the same areas so we can hang out. Here were some issues we encountered: 1. The site 909 was not indicated as unavailable online, so we assumed this was empty. However there was an empty camper sitting there so it divided our group. 2. We all got sites close to the bathroom area, because we had children and pregnant women in our group. However, when we arrived the bathroom was out of order and we had to walk to the pavilion. The staff promised they will fix it, but from the time we arrived to the time we left the plumbing issue was never fixed. 3. The staff were constantly out of the office, so whenever we went there we couldn't get a hold of anyone. 4. On the day we arrived, the staff also said they were gonna blow up the bouncy house since we had a lot of kids in our group. So we told the rest of our group, which created anticipation. But this did not happen at all, and no explanation was offered. The only pros about this place is that we had the proximity to Banning State Park, and that we got to see the northern lights from here. But the reasons we chose this campground -- the close proximity to amenities like bathroom, activities for kids, and having staff nearby -- were duds in this trip. Next time we'll just camp at the State Park.
