A great place for you and your family to bring your RV and or tents when traveling through West Virginia and intending to stay for a while. Conveniently located right on the shores of the jewel of West Virginia Summersville Lake. It gets pretty packed in the summer so you may want to get ahold of Summersville Lake US Army corps of engineers head office to make reservations and prepay your spot. Always safe, with the Nicholas County sheriff's department generally readily close by. It is situated just across from Summersville Lake Beach in an area known as Battle Run. While you are here you are with inside of the dam and a few other famous Summersville Lake chain of islands. This area of Summersville Lake has been denoted by many as the Bahamas of the East Coast. I believe that's appropriately fitting due to the beautiful clear pristine Waters and ready availability of snorkeling. There is no limit on outboard motor power here, so we bring your cigar boats Although I will mention there is a large portion of the lake that is a no wake zone and it would behoove you to pay attention to where these zones are. They have showers, bathrooms, and even a host family that stays here during the season to adequately prepare the grounds for your visit. There is a trail system that goes through the area, feel free to bring your bicycles, scooters, and electric ride-ons. If you are looking for more food options, it is available on the road leading to the campground. There is a large truck stop out by US route 19 that will allow you to purchase gas, ice, and any other needs you may have. Located right beside the gas station is a family Dollar which carries many of the other products you will need daily.

This is a great campground with lake access. Not all sites have a water view but if you book in advance you can get one. There are many sites with a water view. The rates are great. We kayaked from our site and absolutely enjoyed all it had to offer!

We were planning to stay at the free campground a few miles back but little did we know we were arriving at the start of Gauley season so the water in the lake went down a bit each day (they release the water for the rafting). We lucked out and got an amazing spot right on the lake with an almost 360 water view. The park was busy on the weekends and about 1/3 full during the week. We stayed in September 2017 and would stay again, for as long as the park allows. Water and electric at the site, nice dump station. Great cell service (AT&T and verizon) and nice interior roads. Some trees need trimmed and they have pull thrus that are more parallel parking, not exactly big rig friendly.

Awesome place for family. Can't recommend any campground higher..perfect for kids. Scenery is amazing. Volleyball, basketball, playground. Bike riding. Fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming. Need I say more. Vending machines on site, wash and shower and restrooms. Security and town police patrol a lot. Staff r friendly and place kept immaculate. Rv and tent camping. Drawbacks. No pets unless they have service tags. No water or sewage hookups at any sites. Because of terrain and rock. Can't install. Still out of 50 campgrounds in my life. My family loves this place the most. Even has a beach for swimming. Pic nic shelters. Multiple boat launch sites and kayak launch sites, plus fishing pier with shade.

Very convenient to lake access for swimming, kayaking, or boating. The campsite was very nice and would be 5 stars if the campground had someone to contact after hours for some roudy teens running wild at 1am. Some of them even climbed a wall and got on the roof of the bath house. Sucks when someone can take something nice and ruin it for you.
