A friend and I stayed at Black Bear Resort and did some section hiking. The owners Linda and Travis were so hospitable and informative as well as the staff. We had to make an unexpected call to ask for pick up due to weather a night we were planning to tent on the trail and Linda immediately came and found our pick up location and took us back for the night. The accommodations were very comfortable and peaceful. Sounds of the streams and the ambient lights at night, fireside with the staff, adequate bathrooms and shower and laundry area all made this a wonderful experience. Highly recommend this place to stay.
May 18, 2025 · Melinda YoderThe drive up to the resort has some great views and the resort itself was beautiful and secluded. We had the upper tent area all to ourselves most of the stay. There was a small stream behind our tent so you could constantly hear the water, it was so peaceful. The bigger stream behind the office area had more butterflies than we've ever seen in one spot. We really appreciated Linda, the owner, coming up and checking on us each day and her staff we're so kind. We will definitely visit again and we highly recommend Black Bear.
May 26, 2025 · Crystal RiggsDelighted to discover Black Bear Resort! My friend and I were on a spontaneous road trip near Cherokee National Forest, TN and needed a place to camp for the night. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and have an array of tiny cabins, cottages, hammock camping, RV camping, and tent camping. There's even a seasonally-open cafe on site and we enjoyed chatting with chef Chuck while enjoying breakfast sitting outside by the small creek. A beautiful waterfall hike is less than 1/2 mile away. We only stayed one night, and would be happy to return and recommend!
Mar 17, 2025 · Lee PanelaA warm and friendly welcome awaits Appalachian Trail hikers. Less than half a mile from the trail 👣, the resort offers a mixture of private cabins, bunkhouse, and camping. Hot showers, kitchen, laundry, and shop offer everything required for one night's respite from the trail. I was invited to pitch under the pagoda in order to shelter from the advancing storm. Well recommended 👌
May 28, 2025 · Neil ParmenterI visited Black Bear Resort recently on a work trip and cannot recommend them enough. I'm an archaeologist, which means I do a lot of digging and labor when I'm in the field, so I need a good night's rest. The only motel in the area did not have great reviews, so I decided to stay at Black Bear instead, and I am so happy I did! The location is beautiful, and the owners and staff are friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with whatever you might need. I stayed in the Creekside Cottage, which was very clean and comfortable (and shockingly affordable!) for one person and would make a lovely get-away spot for a couple or small family as there is a futon in addition to the one bed. It was quiet in the evenings, and I fell asleep to the sound of the creek right outside. I was only able to make it to the cafe for breakfast on my last day, but I'll definitely make sure to go more next time. Chef Chuck is wonderful and makes delicious eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. I usually don't eat a ton for breakfast, but I cleared that whole plate. I already told my spouse we have to come back for an actual vacation!
