Location and Accessibility

Blue Bluff Recreation Area is beautifully situated at 20051 Blue Bluff Rd, Aberdeen, MS 39730, USA. This prime location is just north of Aberdeen, Mississippi, positioning it along the picturesque Aberdeen Lake section of the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway. This waterway is not just a commercial shipping route but also a significant recreational asset, stretching across Mississippi and into Alabama.

The campground derives its name from the stunning natural features that define the area – beautiful clay and limestone cliffs that border the park on its eastern side. These bluffs rise approximately 80 feet above the water, offering breathtaking, lofty views of Aberdeen Lake and the nearby lock and dam. This natural backdrop provides a serene and visually appealing environment for campers and day-use visitors alike.

Accessibility to Blue Bluff Recreation Area is generally straightforward for Mississippi residents. While it offers a feeling of being immersed in nature, it's not entirely isolated. Directions often involve traveling to the intersection of Commerce and Meridian Streets in downtown Aberdeen, then turning north on Meridian, crossing a railroad track and a bridge. The recreation area is typically the first right turn after this bridge. This makes it easily reachable from various parts of Mississippi for a weekend trip or a longer stay. Local amenities in the town of Aberdeen, such as a grocery store, are also within a short drive, providing convenience for restocking supplies during your visit. The presence of a nearby lock and dam offers a unique opportunity to observe barges and other recreational boats navigating the waterway, adding an interesting dimension to your stay.

We stayed three nights at spot 62. The scenery is pretty and the swimming area is alright, a definite plus. However, the lady that you check in with is rude and the showers, while moderately clean, are cold. The gate locks at ten so no one is allowed in so if you have an event that is going to run you later then I would not recommend this campground... otherwise it is a good place to spend a weekend.

Wanting to get away from it all and enjoy family time? This is not the place to go. Well, it could be if the lady at the guard shack would do herself and everyone else a favor and find another job that would make her a little happier. She has no bed side manner or tact and really does the campground an injustice. She is rude over the phone, too, and acts like people in general are beneath her. Things happen out of our control and emergencies arise from time to time. I understand rules and policies but this is the South, and we pride ourselves in hospitality and going the extra mile for others, especially in their times of need. Blue Bluff deserves hosts that will make guests feel welcome and wanted. Not people that are determined not to lift a finger or be understanding when life happens.

Horrible experience. The park host is constantly finding something to gripe about. This is not the place to go if you are wanting a laid back getaway. If it's not one thing, it's another.
