The cost-free nature of the campsites, combined with the provision of basic amenities like picnic tables, fire rings, and grills, represents a significant value proposition in itself. This allows campers to save on accommodation costs, freeing up their budget for other aspects of their trip, such as gear, food, or exploring nearby attractions.
While there aren't traditional "promotions" in the sense of discounts or special packages typically found at commercial campgrounds, the free registration and access to a secluded, naturally beautiful area are the core offerings. Customer Reviews
Great secluded location off the beaten path. Free camping with online registration. The registration was quick and easy. Four campsites total. Each campsite had a Pavillion covered tent area, picnic table, fire ring and grill provided free of charge. The only downside, in my opinion, is it was a bit difficult to find for us non locals, as there aren't signs to guide you back to the camping area. I would say be observant and mindful of pets and leaving food in the open, as there are alligators in the area. Saw one the morning I was packing up, swimming across the lake right behind where my tent was set up.
Camped here for free! Just sign in online. The site was simple, secluded, and sandy. Swam in the Escambia in the morning.
Nice place, but the reservations system for all these free campgrounds managed by nwfl water doesn't work. They should get rid of it altogether or charge $10/night or so because people eat up the slots in advance and don't show up making it so others miss out because they think it's full. The people in charge don't seem aware of this. No one is keeping track.
Nice Primitive campsites with fire ring and a grill and has a Boyette toilet outside of campground ,boat launches, trash cans ,can swim at another boat ramp around lake but be mindful of alligators cause we saw one right at waters edge at camp site a small one .Pretty Kool😉stayed 5 days ,would stay longer if it was possible .But I will be Back.Alittle bit of traffic on weekends and evenings on road coming in and out .But mostly just friendly locals 🙂
Nice campground but it could be better. Do not go if it's going to rain alot or you may not get back out
